I visited this shop earlier this week and was quoted a price for resoling a pair of shoes. He specifically told me they would be $45 per shoe. Today I went back after deciding to have the work done and he gave me a quote that was closer to $55 per shoe. When I told him that he quoted me $45 per shoe earlier in the week he denied it. He doesn't seem to have the same work ethic as the original Tony and didn't seem to care that I wouldn't be back. He actually thanked me sarcastically. Needed repair on SAS sandals that were high mileage. Tony fixed the torn leather, fastened the damaged part to the sole, replaced footbed on both sandals, must have polished them ;) totally went over them, and did a great job. They were finished a day ahead of time, too. Very satisfied with his work and attention to detail. Good to know,Winchester has a reliable shoe and leather goods repair place. As an equestrian, I am frequently blowing out zippers on tall boots. It is hard to fine a place to repair tall riding boots, and even harder to find business that does quality work and charges a fair price. Tony's is just this! I have not used a shoe repair service before and I was nervous because I know I had an annoyingly short turn around. I walked in the shop and they took the time to fix my shoe right there. I was missing just the plastic on a pair of heels that was near and dear to me and they knocked it it out super quick. I'm very thankful. read more

I used to rely on the former Tony for putting raises on the heel of one of my shoes to counter a limp. He used to charge $10 but always had them ready when I returned from shopping in Winchester. I was pleased that the store had reopened because I hadn't been by for some time. The new Tony wanted $45 to add a raise to the small sandal heel, and said he didn't care what I had been charged in the past. I won't be back. read more

I took a pair of boots in for new soles a couple of months ago. I have put many miles on these boots since the work was done, in some very rough, rocky terrain. They took everything I could throw at them with flying colors. They really know their shoes. After the repair my boots remained waterproof, and they look like they were never worked on. Tony's shoe repair is amazing and worthy of more than 5 stars!! I went in there with my favorite Lucchesse boot after my dog chewed the boot strap and part of the top of the boot. I wasn't even sure if it could be repaired, but he did it and I was beyond pleased with the result. You can't even tell that it was chewed or damaged at all. I was also pleased with the price of the repair which was more than reasonable. I highly recommend going there for any boot or leather repairs. read more

I took in an old Rockport that needed just a bit of stitching on the back. He took one look and said he needed to put whole new lining in it and it would cost $25. He also said the other shoe was probably just as bad so it would be $50 for both. I then asked again if I could just have them sewn. He huffed $50 for both. I was referred to this repair shop by a local Doctors wife who raved about the service, and she was correct in doing so. I have had belts that were too big altered so well you couldn't tell anything had been done, an expensive purse strap repaired so well you cannot detect the repair and my husbands favorite shoes re-soled (we'd thought they were a lost cause and now they are just like new again, with soles actually better than the original ones). No problem, Tony said -- they'll be ready in an hour. I was speechless. An hour later, they're ready, of course. I think the attitude of the owner to the Birkenstock person is due to Birkenstock persons bad attitude. If you don't want to pay the cost the store wants to charge, then simply take your business elsewhere. I had a pair of pumps with damaged heel tips. I came across his shop by accident and decided to stop in. He took my shoes, walked away for about 5 minutes, and came back with not only new tips but they were buffed to look like new! The charge? $10.00. I will definitely use him for shoe repair. read more

My opinion is that the owner of this store is a total jerk. He does not want new business or care about customers. He was impersonal on the telephone a few years ago when he opened. Took my work then to Martinsburg, WV. to the person who bought the old Bartley's shoe repair shop in Winchester, VA. Service there was offered with a spirit of appreciation and sense of humor. Now that place is unfortunately closed. This morning this Tony person was rude and insulting. He wants $45.00 each pair to replace soles on Birkenstock sandals that have almost perfect cork footbeds. Only inexperienced buyers of Birkenstocks pay $110 each pair for them new these days. Birkenstocks cost between $60 and $80 brand new all day every day on the internet now. Sellers on E-bay might be even less if you are fortunate. My voicing a desire to not pay more than $40 each pair for new soles due to this fact and having multiple other pairs already illicited the following response. "I do not know what you are looking for but it is not me. I do not want to see you anymore". Weeks ago two pairs of worn out Naot sandals were left at his store to use for parts if only the buckles. Due to his revolting business attitude these were asked for back and taken away from him. My advice is to find some else to do your shoe repair work even if it means driving some distance and / or paying more. read more
