Tony's Steak Barn... The short part of the review, do yourself a favor, stop what you're doing and go. Go now! Now the slightly longer version, arriving at about 7:00 on Valentine's Day, we had a short wait (less than 15 min). We were seated quickly and our waitress let us know she would be with us in just a minute. She ran a minute longer than planned and let us know again that she would be right with us. This was ok, gave us plenty of time to work out what we wanted. Starters we went with the Fried Green Beans that were served with a side of Ranch. Total score would be a 5 our of 5. Our meals came with 1 trip to the salad bar buffet. Now, I will have to admit this is the first salad bar I've ever eaten at that was made out of an old bathtub. We were a little disappointed with the salad bar in general, with the lack of stuff to put on your salad. From a distance we had made it out to be more than it actually was, which probably didn't help. That being said, the lettuce was fresh, they had cheese, tomatoes, onions, crutons (really good ones that weren't hard as bricks), and about half a dozen dressings selections. Total score 4 out of 5. Now for the main course. Mine was the rack of ribs $21 and my gf had the Cowboy Cut Rib Eye. First up the ribs, came with one extra side, a baked potato. If you want it loaded you can go to the salad bar and add toppings, like bacon bits and cheese. The ribs were really tasty with a hint of smoke flavor and nearly fall of the bones tender ... total score 5 out of 5. My gf ordered here rib eye medium, and it was medium rare. Granted we wanted it cooked more it was really flavorful and almost cut with a fork tender (except near the bones). She got the side of fried potatoes and they were really good as well, total score 5 out of 5. Totally stuffed we were done, paid for our meal, then saw dessert served t a table near us (well played Tony's)....now we had to ask our waitress f she could ring up another order and get us a cheese cake. Really glad we did that. Amazing cheesecake! total score 5 out of 5. Staff was friendly and responsive the entire evening, and they were crowded. Did a great job getting orders right and just providing an overall great dining experience. Atmosphere is very casual, with a rustic wood construction and Nascar memorabilia lining several of the walls. Perfect environment for wanting a great meal you would expect from an expensive steakhouse at a much more reasonable rate. Note, they don't take credit cards here, cash or checks only. So make sure to come prepared with some cash. Great place to eat! Should be on your list of places to try. read more

It's average, honestly, and packed out. Our server was harried but got everything right. She was running. Steaks were fine - not super but not bad. They ran out of baked potatoes when we were there. Went for dinner with the family and the whole table had the Rib-eyes with baked potatoes and salad bar. I'm a steak expert, and can say that these steaks were some of the best seasoned and prepared steaks I've had commercially, outside of the higher end steakhouses. The service was perfect! The hostess seated us right away and the waitress was attentive. They were really busy for a Friday night. Was going to give it four stars because the salad bar was really small (but very clean!), and the decor was outdated, and the tables were really too close together, but the steak overshadowed any reservations regarding anything else. read more

Tony's is a bit of a drive for us (45min) so we'd like for it to be consistently good, but lately (two of the last three visits), it's been very disappointing. We always get the 12oz/16oz ribeye (one medium and one medium rare), and they are about 50% fat and gristle. There's no way these can be choice grade steaks. I'm pretty sure we're getting steaks from Mexico (like at Winn Dixie's sale), that are highly marinated, and that's why we're often disappointed. We went for my husband's birthday last Thursday and the only one who ate good was the dog. Probably won't continue to make the drive. The fried potatoes and onions are amazing, though! read more

I was a bit concerned when we pulled into the gravel parking lot. We don't have those in Atlanta. But then I saw the façade and my hesitation turned to excitement. The charming barnwood exterior offered the perfect setting for a placed aptly named the Steak Barn. We arrived at 4:30pm, and there was already a 45 minute wait. My thought...it must be good. We joked that Morty Seinfeld and Jack Clompus must be present, and patiently waited for our names to be called. Our party of 14 was seated and were well taken care of by our server. We all enjoyed the salad bar. It's small, but the perfect salad. I ordered the 8oz filet, and it was absolutely perfect. The cut of meat was as good as you'd find at Bone's or Chops in ATL. The baked potato was cooked low and slow, just the way I like it. I give Tony 5 stars. I guess I am shocked, given the location. But bravo Tony. Bravo. read more

Server was great but food was ABSOLUTELY terrible. How do you cook a steak and it taste like water? Spent $60.59 on food I mostly fed to my dog after a long day of not eating anything. Was already out of mashed potatoes by 7. Left with sucky shredded lettuce salad and steamed broccoli that honestly would have tasted better just left alone raw. Our 2 year old's chicken fingers tasted like it had been cooked in old burnt grease and he would not eat them at all. The fries are the same as the ones in my freezer at home. I know it sounds harsh but spending that much money on food then having to still pick up food on the way home after is so ridiculous!!! No problems, however, when we were sat at the table our drink order was taken immediately....4 waters...we also had two kids under the age of 2. Tony's Steak Barn is amazing. The wait staff are super friendly, attentive, and professional and the dining room(s) and restrooms are clean. I can't say enough good about the prime rib. My husband makes a mean prime rib, but even he is in awe at how Tony gets the perfect marinade flavor throughout every mouthwatering morsel of the meat. There are steaks, there are d@mn good steaks, and then there are steaks worth driving hours to eat. We make that 3-hr trip (one way) every chance we get to go to Tony's Steak Barn. read more

Three of us on a fishing trip ate at Tony's. The restaurant was packed with fishermen. The server said she was swamped and suggested we visit the salad bar then she would take our order. The salad bar was small with few items, but the few items were fresh and chilled. We brought the salads to the table and the waitress appeared to take our orders. We all had the small prime rib, two medium and one medium rare. The small prime ribs were 10 to 12 ounces, maybe bigger and prepared as ordered. The prime rib were delicious, marbled, but not fatty. For sides two baked potatoes and one baked sweet potatowere ordered. The potatoes were hot, well cooked and nice sized. The owner stopped by to check on us. He was very personable and wanted to know how we enjoyed our meals. Tony's will be visited each year on our fishing trip. Tony's is cash only, so bring some President pictures with you. read more

Service is really friendly. I would say the steaks are average...not thick like Longhorn or Outback. Depends on what you are used to. Prices are pretty high, and they only accept cash(no credit cards/debit cards.) The tuna steak I had was a little dry. The salad bar is limited. Drinks are served in Mason jars. read more

My husband and I went to Tony's for our Valentine's Day supper, it was only the second time we've ever been there. I was thinking we couldn't be remembering the food as being THAT good, and we weren't - it was even BETTER than we remembered. The price is comparable to what we paid at Longhorn, if I remember correctly, but the amount of food is at least twice what we got there - and the quality is 10 times better at Tony's. Lived in this rather rural area for only 1 year. Moved from the Gulf Coast of Florida and didn't really expect much in restaurant comparisons but was pleasantly surprised. The employees were very friendly and kept my sweetened tea filled which is important to me and so rarely found in most restaurants. The steak was excellent, cooked medium rare just as I ordered it. My wife commented it was excellent and she is far more critical than I because she really knows "cooking". I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

A place that prides itself on fresh cut daily beef, then serves whipped spread vs buttter. Please, real butter vs partially hydrogenated soybean oil. If you're going to praise the beef, do the whole cow right and serve real butter. Yes, go and experience Tony's Steak Barn. We walked away saying it was good, but nothing to rave about. Tony's hands down has the best steaks I've ever had. I won't eat a steak anywhere else after eating here. You can cut the prime rib with a fork, it just melts in your mouth. We live about 20 minutes away and come as often as we can. read more

tony's is the best steak i have ever had, the closest to tony's is the outback, no other steak house comes close. they now have a meat market that serves the same meat that tony cooks up, and i cannot drive by without stopping and getting some chopped steak or filets or t-bones! try it, you will be surprised by the servings and the prices! read more
