The 35 day dry ages split bone ribeye was melt in your mouth amazing! The garlic mashed potatoes were mouth watering, bursting with flavor! The asparagus was cooked to perfection, with that crisp first bite and seasoned to perfection! The onion rings were superb and the baked beans... they were the best I have ever tasted! The New York Cheesecake with the blueberry sauce and peanut butter pie were the absolute best I have ever tasted!! I give Bama Bucks a 10/10 for the food! The presentation of the food was breathtakingly beautiful! The service was a little slow seating (Valentine's Day so that's expected) but so well worth the wait! Tables set nicely with a single rose at every table! Very well decorated inside and out! Even though they were slam packed our waitress was very attentive to our table, made sure we had everything we needed and was not overbearing but so kind and courteous! The service was terrible. I wish I could say that we had a great dining experience but we did not. The food was overly salty and it could've been overlooked if our server wasn't bad as well. We had to get condiments ourselves, we're not checked on until we were completely finished. They got one of our orders wrong and not even an apology, I'm thankful they took care of it check-wise (sort of) but it just wasn't great. Oh, wait, cheese curds was the best part of our meal. The only people who are worth mentioning that were welcoming was the hostess and the person in the gift shop when we purchased our entry to see the animals. Bama Bucks in Boaz, AL is a destination! Located about an hour outside of Birmingham, Bama Bucks is a wildlife and wild game outdoor zoo with a restaurant featuring wild game, as well as the usual fare (steak, chicken, and beef). If you're into funny taxidermy, bison burgers, and seeing a lot of animals you hope to never encounter face to face, this is your place. It's really a nice, clean, well-done facility. There's a gift shop with some crazy items, a bourbon bar, fire pit, and beautiful grounds and landscaping. Worth the trip on a lovely fall day. I especially think kids would love to spend some time here. The food service was slow, but the quality, ambiance, and service were actually fantastic. They routinely bring out a baby raccoon (collective "aww"). Wood-burning fireplaces add to the charm. read more

This review is just for the food and restaurant. We didn't go into the animal park because we'd just come from Tigers for Tomorrow and had our fill of wildlife viewing, lol. Came here for lunch Friday last week with a large group after aforementioned TFT visit. Reading how popular this place is, I was worried it would be a struggle to seat us all (party of 12), but we only had to wait a few minutes while they pulled some tables together. Walking up to the restaurant there are a few little pockets to look at stuff for sale, much of it hunting/wildlife/wild game themed. There were some really funny taxidermy animals and plenty of souvenirs. There's a larger indoor gift shop that also houses a resident live sloth. The sloth was sleeping, of course, but fun to look at and you're allowed to shop while you wait for your meal, so we took turns poking around. The decor really is fun and to me it's almost worth a trip based on the novelty of it all alone. Our waitress was fine. We had a lot of questions about the menu but she mostly just said everything was good, which I guess is a fine opinion to have but didn't help us make a decision, lol. Food was a little slow to come out but they got the modifications for the kids right and no mistakes on our food either. On to the food -- I actually think I was the happiest with what I got out of everyone. A rarity. And if anyone else had written this review, it might've only been a 3 star. But I was happy! I got the fiesta chicken (grilled chicken with queso, peppers and onions, and tortilla strips) with broccoli and sweet potato fries. I also ate a couple of the complimentary rolls -- they were yummy yeast rolls and freshly baked! My chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked and I enjoyed the myriad flavors of the toppings. The broccoli was plain but tender and plentiful. The sweet potato fries were extra sweet but I prefer them that way. They were nice and crispy too. My fellow diners got a bunch of stuff -- burgers, several French dips, a couple of wild game steaks and beef steaks for the kids, etc. the French dip didn't look that good to me and no one who ordered it finished it; they said it was weirdly sweet. The elk steak was tough and dry but the bison ribeye was better received. I didn't try either because I'm a wuss, lmao. The food is good enough and the staff is good enough but not good enough to compensate for the hour plus wait for a table (caused by the literal one hour wait between the time food is ordered and arrives). 2025 Father's Day FAIL! It was my idea to have my family take me here for Father's Day and I feel I robbed my kids out of $230.00. It was our first and last time. Don't believe the hype. We arrived 30 min early because they don't take reservations, but people were already being served by the time we got in. The appetizers, sausages and duck blinds were good. It took over AN HOUR for entrees to come out. No updates from the server. None of the entrees were worth the price. Shrimp and grits were more like a microwave meal in regard to taste. The quail was charred to finch sized pieces of bone and the biscuits and gravy were just nasty. Hardee's is better. The biggest disappointment was the elk steak my son and I got. It was overcooked, tough, the sauce was not a good pairing and the blackberry chunks stuck all in my teeth. Applebees has a much better steak. I tried to play it off but they know when I don't eat a steak, something is majorly wrong. It actually caused tension within the family because I was trying my best to hide my frustration over the whole experience. The food is great. Wonderful wait staff. I took my German relatives here. The only issue we had was with the exotic animal part. The deer, gnu's, elk had quite a large area to roam, but the donkey had a smaller dirt pen and black bears had a small cement pen with shelter and a small pol but nothing natural...no trees. Really wanted to love it, I'd heard so much good stuff about it. Our server, Brailyn, was rude to us and she would attempt to run away every single time I opened my mouth to try and ask for anything. Told her to come back in 2 minutes and we would be ready to order, she sat at the bar talking with other servers for 20 minutes and ignored us. Appetizers took a little long to come out, food was pretty okay, I got the pheasant breast with macaroni and cheese and a baked potato. Another new server came over with shoulder-length blonde hair and a white bow. I was confused about her bringing a random drink over. Understood after a few seconds it was my friend's refill (she didn't ask for one and her drink was still pretty full, that's why I got confused). Tried to ease the tension because she seemed annoyed so I complimented her hair. She rolled her eyes at me. Almost didn't have time to ask for a box because Brailyn set down the check and sprinted away like she was on fire (they were not busy, she had like two or three tables at the time including us). Animal cages were outrageous. The black bear cages were awful. Why are you putting such intelligent animals in small, concrete cages? No grass, no trees, no nothing. Couldn't even get any sunlight. Barely even had room to pace. The raccoon and lemur cages were pretty small, and there was a rabbit by himself off to the side that didn't get that much traffic. They had a single male and female tortoise, and the male was chasing and getting on top of the female the entire time. She was much smaller and so clearly stressed because she's the only female, meaning she's the only one that faces his wrath. Ostriches plucked their feathers out from stress, barely had room to run because there's dead trees everywhere in the way. Gave the bison and deer so much space but seemed to not care about the other animals. Go somewhere else. Not good, and overpriced. read more

Today was our first time there. It was a really interesting place, our daughter & grands took us for our birthdays. They paid for us to see the animals, that was good (sad to see my favorite black bears in a pen) that said, the animals did look cared for and healthy. I saw some animals I had never seen before! Now to eat...they were packed but our wait time wasn't too long, enough stuff to look at to keep your mind off the time waiting. We had a friendly server that was working hard. The food was great, my bison lasagna was delicious, not a complaint on our table! My tell all is the salad in any restaurant, theirs was great! I had heard about Bama Bucks from friends who drove in from Birmingham, who said it was worth the trip. I enjoyed myself so much, I have to agree. We arrived for dinner around 7:30 on Saturday night. The hostess advised there was a 30 minute wait but we were seated in ten minutes. In that short time, we milled about outside by the fire and tried to guess what animals were behind the fence that had signs admonishing us to keep our hands to ourselves because animals bite. Because we couldn't see anything, we agreed to come back one day for lunch and a walk around to see their critters. Perusing the menu is a pleasure - in particular, I'm looking forward to lunching on the "Bite a Pig in the Butt" sandwich soon. Because we were starving for steaks, that's what we got. We stared with macaroni and cheese bites - which had great cheese but no macaroni that we could discern. We then progressed to salads - I upgraded mine to a wedge and it was quite good. I did find ranch dressing an odd choice with blue cheese on the plate, but both were good so it was just different, not bad. The house salad was also generous and delicious. The time between appetizer and salad was perfect - we had time to finish before the salads came, and the appetizers were fast out of the kitchen. For the main meal, though, there was quite a wait. Several large parties had finished and were wrapping up, so we couldn't discern the reason for the delay. Fifteen minutes became twenty-five, and our server came to advise the kitchen was out of baked potatoes, and to ask what our preferred substitute was. We sadly requested mashed potatoes - the baked potatoes we had seen leaving the kitchen had whetted our appetites - they looked perfect and well-sized and steamy hot. But no matter. The mashed potatoes were fine. Steaks arrived and were ... just fine. They were well-marinated and seasoned. He had a 22 ounce ribeye, which was so thin but was perfectly cooked. I had a 6 ounce filet, with tomato butter, which was lovely. At this point, it was after 9:00 but we still ordered creme brûlée cheesecake and coffee. Both were perfect, delicious despite the late hour. The sugar on top of the cheesecake was nicely torched and yielded the pleasing crunch we hoped for. The tab for two without tip was $90, which was very fair. I will say, the food was enough - we were not hungry at the end of the meal, but not stuffed either. We will definitely be back - looking forward to the aforementioned lunch soon! Maybe we'll arrive earlier for dinner - so there won't be such a delay between salads and mains. We visited for the first time tonight and I have a few thoughts. Fantastic vibe and atmosphere...it feels so homey and cozy. The grounds are so lovely and well kept. I found myself just admiring some of the trees. Hostess was sweet, friendly and informative! When our waitress came up we all noticed how she seemed bothered. She wasn't friendly and honestly just seemed annoyed to be waiting on our table of 6. We thought that it might get better and she did improve a teeny tiny bit. She brought back refills and gave us Coke instead of our original Dr. Pepper. We had to stop a different waitress and ask for the correct drink because our server kept hanging out around the hostess stand. I wish we had gotten our "neighbor" waitress because she was so friendly and talkative with her tables! She was telling them all kinds of stuff about the food, checking on them, constantly coming around and just seemed so friendly and helpful! She immediately passed the wrong drink information along to our actual waitress and then she even came back later to check on us, which she didn't have to do since we weren't her table, to be sure we got it fixed! Ok, so fast forward to our food...we waited a while and the restaurant had mostly cleared out by this point! I kept seeing our waitress hanging out around the hostess stand and we were hoping our food wasn't back in the kitchen waiting on her. She finally brings our food out and we were right! The plates are super hot but our food is not. You could tell it had been sitting under the warmer lights or whatever they use. I don't wanna focus on the negatives bc it truly was just our server. A server plays a huge part in your experience at a restaurant...especially one like this. I wish I could've told the other waitress how I wish we would've had her instead! We made the trip to Bama Buck's from Fayetteville, TN, and it did not disappoint. It was a little strange getting to the restaurant because it is in a mostly residential area, but hard to miss when you get there. The lodge gives a very rustic cabin vibe, and delivers the perfect country setting for the dining and entertainment experience you are about to receive. The food is amazing, I enjoyed the bison ribeye and mashed potatoes with asparagus. My wife's sandwich was phenomenal as well; although I can't remember what it was called. The service was excellent and when you are done, you can walk through their outdoor pavilion and see all forms of wildlife. 10/10 would recommend and we will definitely be back! read more

They told us no reservations but we watched a prom group show up, walk in and have their food served immediately. So if you know someone you can get special treatment otherwise service sucked and they treat you like a burden. Not much exotic meats, just standard wild boar, elk, little venison. This is one of those go once to see why you will never go back. Again food was meh at best. The atmosphere sucked as well. No where to wait for 2 hours for your table. Just stand around the gift shop so you buy over priced garbage. You can also stand around outside. They offer no beverages and they DO NOT serve alcohol. The least they could do is offer some lemonade or water to the people waiting 2 hours to over pay them to eat the mediocre food. Do not recommend.
