Being at downtown Christiansted, its a little hard to find parking here. So better to come in earlier than your reservation to find a place to park. It took a while for the hostess to come over to attend our reservation and help us get seated. Its a large and lively space with inside, outside and courtyard seating. Once seated inside, the server too took a while to attend to us. We ordered Mussels for appetizer and it was absolutely great. The broth was tasty and the mussels were delicious. I had the love potion and it was a very delicious drink. My husband didnt enjoy his old fashioned as much and mentioned it didnt have the required sweetness. For dinner we ordered salmon that came with mashed potatoes, cheese burger and plate of ribs. My son thought the burger was one of his favorite gourmet burgers ever. The salmon was well cooked and had a good crust but could have had a little more flavor to it. Feedback on ribs was that it was just okay. We had to be somewhere for an appointment after the dinner and thought that 90 mins was enough to finish dinner but the service was going a bit slow...we ordered few desserts to carry out and they were out of an item, which meant the process took a bit. It seemed like the server was trying to keep up but it was very busy and the space being so large meant she had to go a longer distance, so I sympathize with the time taken, but made us anxious. They also seem to have one restroom for that giant space and that was causing a lot of people to just wait in the hallway for what seemed forever, to use the restroom. Overall food is good but pricey, service could be improved and another restroom should definitely be figured out. read more

This had to be my favorite meal while visiting St. Croix. The baked brie with crostini was phenomenal. I found myself wanting more. My main dish was the pasta and it was fine; nothing to write home about. But the five stars is really for the cheesecake. I will be dreaming about that from here on out. It was the fluffiest cheesecake I've ever eaten. It wasn't too sweet. The strawberries added a nice bit of tartness and I loved the cherry drizzle that they put on the side. Our server was nice though service was a bit slow, but maybe things were running on island time. The ambience is very nice for dinner. It's a bit dimly lit with candles, and the music wasn't too loud so I was able to hear the other folks at the table pretty well. I would definitely recommend this place for celebrating a special occasion, a date, or any sort of small gathering. I went to this spot to hang out with friends. The drinks were good, and dinner was enjoyable. When it came time for dessert, we ordered the chocolate mousse with three spoons. After my first bite, I noticed something grainy in my mouth. I spit it out and used my phone's flashlight to check--my friends thought it was just a piece of chocolate. But when I turned on the light, it was a roach! We immediately called the waiter and the manager. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the manager had an attitude, as if it was my fault for eating a roach. Her demeanor was incredibly off-putting. Excellent restaurant. The food is great, service is friendly and was surprisingly fast. Management is accommodating. While appetizers sounded good, we opted for only main courses and desserts. The shrimp saltimbocca was excellent. My wife's tuna was well prepared with a delicious ginger relish. We shared two desserts. The key lime pie was the best I have ever had. The chocolate mousse was good, but it was more of a milk chocolate and I prefer dark, so the pie eclipsed it. The ambiance was very nice, yet casual. It's delightful to see that have reopened for seated dining. They still have excellent food, service and cocktails. It is nice to see the French 75 on the menu. A pretty good selection of wines by the glass. The summer salad with pears is terrific. Plenty of fresh greens, feta, and a nice vinaigrette. The filet au poivre is delicious. Also, tasty seafood choices and various daily specials. An ice cream sundae is on the dessert menu. I don't understand why more restaurants in STX don't have ice cream. The inside air conditioned space is beautiful. They also have outside bar and patio dining. A wonderful place for dinner. I came for a solo dinner on a Saturday evening and sat in the darling little courtyard right next to a fountain l, which provided some soothing white noise that mingled with the music and nearby conversations. Lovely ambience. The grilled shrimp starter is an absolute must. That glaze is so wonderful, sweet with a little more of a kick than you might be expecting, and the jicama slaw gives some great textural variety to the whole dish. The filet au poivre was pretty good as well. Nothing life-altering, but still a very solid steak. There was a small but good wine list with a number of different options for various palates and price points. The staff were all very attentive without being overbearing. The decor was amazing. My fiancé and I arrived when it opened because we didn't notice they took reservations until an hour before. They had options for outside or AC, we opted AC. For most of our meal we had the section to ourselves. For appetizer we had the Mac n cheese, great choice. Creamy and loved the breadcrumbs on top. I made my meal with the sweet chili shrimp from the appetizer menu and added rice and broccoli. The shrimp had a nice kick. My fiancé had the crusted chicken and said it was pretty good, just didn't like the raisins. The service was top tier since our waiter and hostess were attentive and asked how everything was, often. I had the filet special with the berry Demi glacé... steak was well made, but the berry was a little too ambitious. Service was prompt and attentive. A little strange to be hit with a 20% gratuity for two people without explanation. We spent the entire week in St Croix tipping 25-30% so adding gratuity without an explanation was quite off putting. If this is restaurant policy, explain that. If our server from Indiana was making her own determination, very insulting. The place looks very unassuming from the outside when you walk up... get behind the initial facade and a really cool and eclectic place emerges. Honestly I could have made a meal with my salad and the Mac & cheese. It was the best Mac & cheese ever. The mixed green salad with champagne vinaigrette was fresh and perfectly tossed. For the main course I went with the fresh mahi piccata special- the mahi was melt in your mouth fresh. My husband got the wahoo special and my son got the mahi scampi. All were amazing! It's my second night in one week at Too Chez. YES- it's that phenomenal! And this is coming from someone who works in the food industry with well versed chefs. There are ribs you will dream about (I did), steak that is drool worthy, cocktails that bring a sweet smile to anyone's face and dessert that is so dirty good you will feel like you've sinned. Best place I have stumbled upon for a dinner in a long time. Cool location, great host and wait staff (you know who you are). The Kendrick family legacy continues making waves in St. Croix by opening this little gem. I only wish I had shaken the hand of the culinary genius behind this tasty menu. Oh and if it's a sangria night, don't be foolish...get a glass. It's refreshing (not over the top tart or too sweet). My only critique- esthetically speaking, solid white table clothes would allow the eye to catch the beauty of the dishes more while gently complimenting the teal and orange color scheme throughout the uniquely charming outdoor location. Farm to table delicious appetizers and meals. In a new beautiful setting, a must, while in St Croix!

My fiancé and I had the pleasure of dining at this new eatery in Christiansted. We were seated in the inner dining room versus the courtyard, a large room that oozed history in its brick walls and archways. The walls are covered in nostalgic artwork, from local painters to old movie photographs that were taken during filming on St Croix in the 1970's. Our server, Di, greeted us immediately and was very attentive to us throughout the meal. Saving the best for last...the food was outstanding. We started with the baked Brie, melty layered deliciousness, and a very inventive take on Brussel Sprouts in a dip served with grilled pita. Dinner for myself, a lacto ovo vegetarian, was two large zucchini feta fritters served with a spicy remoulade and locally sourced arugula. My dinner companion had, what he termed, "one of the best steaks of his life". A generous portion of filet topped with cognac cream sauce, dotted with large peppercorn pieces, and thinly sliced apples - an amalgam of flavors that layered very well with his perfectly cooked steak. Our dinner was washed down with a lovely French Bordeaux. Finally, with barely any room left, we nibbled on a delectable layered chocolate torte with caramel and a graham cracker crust, served with fresh berries and ice cream. Don't miss this gem when you are on St Croix. And don't leave without checking out the family photo in one of the inside lounges. Take note of the young boy with the big eyeglasses and with a knowing attitude that his future would be bright - he's the owner and head chef. read more

Not up to par. 170 bucks later I'm left wondering what just happened. To start, they have a good wine list, decent prices, looked like a decent bartender. Then, u notice the plastic tablecloths and the crappy service. Nice, but just not attentive, not good. Then, no kids menu. Ok. A hidden split fee, which thank god was mentioned on a 28 dollar entree for two kids. This isn't a very good place to bring kids. Fine, let's just establish that. Next, the two orders of ribs we had tasted like the ribs finished this morning at best, at worst, yesterday. I'm fine with all that, but they better be bomb for 30 bucks a plate. My wife got a plate of salmon. That was very good, but. Ok, 36 bucks for farm raised salmon with rice? U gotta do better guys. Asked for bread... wishy washy answer of - only if u order an appetizer with bread. Thanks. Just tell me no. But at "fine dining" I expect some damn bread when I'm dropping more than a Benjamin, especially if I ask. Most disappointing - every entree came with "roasted corn." Well. This corn was frozen cobbs. They probably microwaved them. I even asked - is this corn frozen? Answer, yes at some times, but not now. Well, the middle was super cold... blank stare. Just gross, obviously microwaved. Everything came with virtually the same sides, and there were like 6 options total. Feels like forced Christiansted pricing just cuz they are in a good location. Terrible. Go to 40 strand, go to the others that have more reviews. I tipped 20%. Enjoy the tip - you guys need to improve, it's not good.
