Came here while visiting from California and was genuinely excited to try this small, hole-in-the-wall breakfast spot. We love local places and breakfast!! However, that excitement disappeared very quickly. Every seat was full when we walked in -- totally fine, we expected to wait. What we didn't expect was to stand there for 10-15 minutes without a single acknowledgment. No "welcome in," no "we'll be right with you," no explanation of whether we seat ourselves or wait. Literally nothing. Just... ignored. As tables opened up, still nothing. No guidance, no eye contact, no words. We're just standing there like ... wondering if we accidentally walked into a place where customers aren't supposed to exist. Then a woman who I assume is the owner (Sam) barges in already radiating this rude, egotistical energy. She walks straight past us and warmly greets another table. Whatever--maybe she knew them! She's clearly frazzled, so we take a few minutes before we politely ask if we can take two empty seats nearby. She looks up and goes, "What??" then looks back down and says, "I need five minutes. Can you just give me five minutes before I do anything?" Sighs. And goes back to whatever was more important than taking two seconds to kindly seat two customers. Like, ?? LOL At this point, we wait long enough for that table that she greeted nicely to pay, get up, and leave. Still not a single kind word from anyone. Since nobody bothered to tell us how this place works, we finally seat ourselves. From there, service is slow -- which honestly didn't bother us. Island time is island time. What did bother us was the nonstop condescending, rude tone from this woman the entire time. The way she spoke to everyone made it seem like she thought she was the center of the universe, and we were just... inconveniences. The food was good, though! Can't beat down on that tbh. That's why this review is 2 s instead of 1. To top it all off, when we're finished and ready to pay, she comes over and says, "You ready to go?" We smile and say yes. She drops the payment terminal on the table and walks away without another word. No "thank you," no "how was everything," no acknowledgment that we were even human beings. Like, not even a smile??? There was just no string of kindness anywhere... My suggestion: skip this place and skip the nasty attitude. I'm not sure what the base bread is, but it's so fluffy and tastes like eating air. The sausage was also really good. 4 of us went to Toast yesterday for brunch. They ran out of most food items due to no shipment the previous day. So no toast at Toast. No eggs, or most breakfast items either. Served us green tomatoes on our burger along with English muffin for the bun. After waiting almost an hour for the food the waitress came back to us and announced she had lost her order book so we would have to give her the order again. We should have left at that point but we were famished at this point. Not a bad diner, if you're looking for a quick and cheap breakfast. You have to arrive early because they don't have many tables and they fill up quickly. We showed up 5 mins past opening and the outside tables were already full. The inside is small with only 2 to 3 tables available. The bathroom is unisex and located directly next to the counter. The toilet is a step up, which is a little strange, and the bathroom itself wasn't super clean. I ordered scrambled eggs with toast and a side of fried plantains. The eggs and toast were as expected, but the plantains were fried perfectly. They had a crisp on the outside, but were still tender on the inside. My friend had a breakfast arepa. It came out piping hot and she said the bacon was crispy and the arepa itself wasn't too greasy. She suggested it as a really nice gluten free option. During my stay in St.Croix, I wanted to start my morning off with a nice breakfast. At the recommendation of the host at the boutique hotel where I was staying, I tried toast. It was a very good recommendation. I ordered grilled rum cake French toast. Although the server brought syrup to the table, none was needed. I am now addicted to grilled rum cake. I also had a side of scrambled eggs with it. On another visit later during my stay on the island, I had a proper Cruzian breakfast. This was stewed saltfish with wilted spinach, plantains, and eggs. I used the arepa that came with it to sop up any gravy. Totally won me over. This will be one of my "go to" restaurants when next I return to St. Croix for a visit. read more

We felt this was hotel style continental breakfast quality food. If you like very simple eggs on a griddle and white packaged bread toast, you'll be happy. Mango passion fruit juice was super sweet. The hash brown casserole has cream cheese and cheddar cheese in it, in addition to whatever you ask to add to it (not good for dairy free guests!) The arepa was super bland. After having found a table and sitting down, I witnessed a tall, slender, white man with a weird mustache (employee), yelling at a fellow employee, and 2 separate patron parties. I had to at this point decide that my desire to enjoy breakfast at your restaurant would need to succumb to my fundamental need to be treated with dignity and respect. Favourite brunch on st croix! Quick service to get an easy-to-eat and delicious arepa, as well as good for a casual sit down brunch. There is a small number of seats available for indoor dining, and a few tables outside, but then a whole boardwalk with benches if those are busy. Staff wasn't friendly, but that doesn't take away from the value and taste of the food here! I had the lox arepa for $10 and it was well loaded with all the toppings listed -- the arepa itself was great too: crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and gluten free. We LOVED the rum cake French toast -- strongly recommend this, we got it as a shared item as it is pretty sweet, but delicious, and a must-try. Someone at our table ordered the cruzian breakfast, and all that was listed was done well. There are also a number of other breakfast options, from açai, oatmeal, eggs and bacon, etc. as a testament to the variety available. Everything was reasonably priced and delicious! I tried to go to Toast the other day but it was closed due to Easter weekend, so I was happy they they were open this morning. This is the best breakfast I had on island. *Note: I am submitting this review about a week after visiting as I forgot to hit Submit!* I got the 3 Eggs Your Way with scrambled eggs, wheat toast, hash brown casserole, and turkey bacon. Everything was delicious! I don't eat pork and generally find turkey bacon to feel like plastic, but theirs was great. The toast was soft and the hash brown casserole was the bomb (I don't normally go for "casseroles" of any type). I realize the photo I took of my plate may not have you jumping out of your seat, but this was really a great meal. It's easy to appreciate the array of items on their menu as well--arepas, anyone? They also have a variety of fresh juices and other things, along with friendly service. While I was there, I noticed several locals who were clearly known entities to the staff. This is a great local breakfast/lunch place. I'm pretty sure it is family owned but all I know is the service was amazing and the drinks and food were even better. Our party visited this spot for breakfast around the early morning. We were seated outside and were told that large groups that arrive together must be seated together, so we all sat outside. We ordered water and the only option was bottled water. The waitress was a bit condescending as annoyed as she was taking our order and we tried to be understanding and efficient. The food was not flavorful, very bland and I ordered the crucian breakfast. The corn cakes were bland and they were advertised as the worlds most famous breakfast food, but they seemed to be frozen corn patties. The fish was salty and decently flavored but all the menu items we tried were very basic given the price paid. We understood the upcharge for food in this area but were disappointed with the quality. The workers seemed to be tired and not very accommodating. However, once we got near paying the bill, the waitress changed her attitude quickly(a bit strange). Tried Toast Diner today and enjoyed the food very much. Just a warning, it is a small venue; with small tables, limited bar area and limited outside dining. We had three people and that was about as many as they could fit at any seating area. The food was definitely delicious and not our normal breakfast. The hash brown casserole was delicious, but most definitely, take advantage of the additional toppings to make the flavor pop! We added tomatoes, onions and cheese to the hash browns...it was a nice touch. We had the Cuban bun, peanut butter and jealous pork sandwich and traditional Venezuelan breakfast. We were just there yesterday and the place looked amazing, we went inside and was taking in all the memorabilia the restaurant had to offer. There was a server, pale, tall behind the counter holding out two menus. I didn't see him and he did not speak up welcoming us into the restaurant, I said, "oh sorry, and thanked him fur the menus". ", his snarky reply was along the lines of, "didn't you see me?" I'm not one for disrespect, we got up and started to leave when the owner, I believe, small friendly grandma type asked why we were leaving, I told her we decided to get lunch. I then caught the disrespectful goofball outside and told him the reason we were leaving the establishment was because of him, I explained to him that you don't talk to people, especially customers that way.
