One of my favorite places to get breakfast. I love all the kosher options and as a vegetarian, there's plenty available for me as well. The only reason I'm hesitant to give the full five stars is because sometimes, thankfully not very often, but sometimes, the quality of the food is inconsistent. For example, I'll get big portions one week and small the next. They've also messed up my orders before but they always fix it. I had originally given TooJay's a 5 for their corned beef sandwiches. However, since then I have had three that have had huge pieces of fat in the sandwich. Not just a little fat. Two inch long pieces of fat that I had to pull out. Not just one but several pieces in the same sandwich. I was loyal to them because their corned beef was so good, but now I won't go back. I concur with the earlier review that said the service was great-- I went an hour before close and the dining room was not crowded and I got great service. I'll likely go back even though I only gave 3 stars, but I just didn't think what I ordered was very good. I had a small amount of chicken salad on a bed of lettuce, but it was garnish lettuce, not for eating, and I was really hungry. There was nowhere near enough food for me, especially considering I paid $9 for what I ordered. The chicken dijon salad tasted good, but nowhere near an appropriate portion. If the lettuce had nto been those single, gigantic leaves and was served on a bed of salad, it may have been enough. read more

Gourmet is not exactly the experience I had on my visit despite the other high Yelp ratings and recommendation of a trusted friend. I made the trip specifically in search of a good Reuben and when my plate arrived there was a generous amount of corned beef and sauerkraut along with a swipe of dressing and it looked delicious. Then I picked up my sandwich and the bread on the bottom was completely soggy yet the top was crispy as if toasted. Yuck! I still wanted a taste so I went ahead but the flavors of the sauerkraut and dressing were missing somehow. The sandwich was obviously a disappointment so it should not have surprised me that the french fries were a frozen brand that was poorly prepared too - limp and mushy. The service staff is very friendly but for the $$ I would hesitate to give a thumbs up to anyone asking about my experience here today. read more

I've been going to this TooJay's for years but it is going down the tubes. The last three times that I have been here have been extremely disappointing. Twice the chicken tenders were so overcooked that they had a slight burnt taste and were very dry. The burger that I order last week (medium rare) came out so well done that I could barely choke down half of it. It was this pathetic little excuse of a burger that reminded me of a really bad diner in upstate New York but they only charged $3 for their train wrecks. Luncheon companion ordered the stuffed cabbage but was also clearly disappointed. The cooks in the kitchen are not doing this establishment any favors. read more

The staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating. There are so many selections and old world specialties, we had to try them all! We had the cabbage roll, the blintzes with blueberries and some amazing potato pancakes with creme fraiche and smoked salmon. Everything was delicious. There was some sort of amazing Thanksgiving dinner sandwich served with mashed potatoes and my brother said it was the best he ever had! My niece had fresh fruit. My mom had the Shrimp Salad platter. And I decided to go a little lighter and tried the strawberry orange salad. It was so good, but I could not finish it. Love this place everything that they sent was packed beautifully and was yummy. The only thing I would not recommend is the potato salad and coleslaw. I wanted beef tongue and they were out of it. Got the corned beef. Substituted the tongue for liverwurst. Also very delicious and packed really nice. Got Ryebread and it was still warm when it got here. Highly recommend this place. Great food preceded by great service! I found out my wife was little under the weather and needed some chicken soup. I headed right to Toojay's. To speed things up, I phoned in my order. I was greeted by a very friendly server. I could tell the restaurant was busy, but she quickly took my order and had it waiting for me when I hit the door. This is the kind of service that will keep me coming back! When I got home the soup was outstanding. Hot, full of noodles, chicken and all the things that make chicken soup the amazing curative. The black & white cookies were a delightful finish. You can't go wrong with Toojay's. It was a little pricey, but the quality and service more than make up for that small added expense! read more

Recommended to me by a lovely Jewish woman from Brooklyn as being the closest I'll get to an authentic New York Jewish deli in FL, I visited TooJay's today with well managed expectations. Got a bagel with nova lox, cream cheese, ...the works, potato pancakes and matzoh ball soup. The bagel had a great review from my fiancé-he enjoyed it very much. The potato pancakes were yummy. Nicely fried, not too oily. The soup was very oily and unfortunately not the best I've had. Additionally, I paid $7 per serving of soup (purchased two) and received A ridiculously small serving. In speaking with the nice lady who attended to me, I learned that "they don't wear masks" with the sentiment being she was thrilled to not be in the Northeast where there are so many Covid regulations, etc. I appreciate everyone's opinion on this, but really find it inappropriate to be sharing viewpoints on a controversial topic to a complete stranger, let alone your customer (who was wearing a mask). I pulled my mask down to breathe a little but immediately pulled it back up following. Given the number of restaurants having to close because of entire staff being sick with Covid right now, and the number of folks who've suffered real loss, I just thought expressing this was in poor taste. Toojays, you have lost my business forever. I have catered from you for the last time. You messed up my last order and offered some coupons as a make-up. I go to your Ocoee location for lunch to use said coupons and wait at the seating station for 15 minutes. No hostess ever appears. Servers wander around sometimes glancing at me but none make a move. Line is growing behind me. Finally I ask a guy behind the deli counter if there is a Hostess working today, and he apologizes and seats me immediately and brings me some water. Then wait for 20 more minutes while no server ever attempt to contact me and ask me for an order. 35 minutes to sit and wait for somebody to pay attention to you is inexcusable, and sorry but you just aren't worth my business if this is the level of attention you pay. read more

Stuck at a Universal resort for a week, were desperate for some real food. Long time fan of TooJays from the Stuart area. As always, food is generous, high-quality and tasty. I very neutral with this restaurant. Now I have visited several different locations. I have visited the restaurant and had it catered and the food is always either good or bad. No in between. When dining in the staff seemed like they did not want to be there and they were forced. The food was mediocre. Ive placed a few catering orders and most of the food was dry. I will say there dessert gave them the extra stars. The chocolate dream and chocolate cheese cake are absolutely amazing. I do dislike the fact that most items are from the Jewish delicacy but the restaurant is not kosher. I wish they were kosher it would just make things better. Went for my first time because I heard positive things and wanted a good pastrami sandwich. Service wasn't great. Super slow and the waitress was not attentive and rude during the few visits. As for the food, We ordered our sandwiches hot and they were room temp. Requested mayo which didn't come till I asked multiple times, and the sandwiches lacked substantially on the meat for both of us. Probably half what they promote on the pictures. I've had mixed experiences here with the service, but usually the food is pretty great! The beef cabbage soup is so amazing! I've also had the Dijon Chicken Salad sandwich and that was wonderful. I like how you can have a light lunch with a soup and sandwich or a soup and a salad or a sandwich and a salad. Well I finally made it here. Always thought it was a quick service place for some reason. You can order food to-go. But they also have table service. We chose to sit down and eat. I loved the menu. So many things I wasn't sure what to choose. Ended up getting the brisket dip sandwich which was quite good. Waitress was great. Only major complaint was that the food took forever at 2 in the afternoon. Waitress did say she was having a manager check on the food to see what was up. About 15 minutes later our food finally showed up. Kind of shocked no manager bothered to stop by and apologize or anything. Typically if that happens the manager will either bring the food out personally or stop by shortly after its delivered to check in and apologize for waiting an hour for 2 sandwiches. Never happened. It was all up to the waitress herself to get the food out to us. Also the fries were pretty crummy. Very brown and tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours and not tasty at all. Had to cover mine in salt, pepper, and ketchup just to make them appetizing. This place could have had more stars but lack of good management and crummy sides haulted that. Food is pretty good. Tonight I got the Philly Cheese steak with no Onions or Peppers. So pretty much just meat and cheese. It was full of meat but barely any cheese. Two slices for the full sandwich. I ended up asking for Mayo because it was too dry. The coleslaw was also suppose to be fruit salad as well. But we waited long enough I didn't feel like another order. Its no wonder that folks like the sandwiches because the meat, pastrami etc, comes from a vendor so its hard to mess those up. But I find the other things that I have had at TooJays unimpressive. The Dijon chicken salad is watery and doesn't taste that good. The French fries are never good; they need to replace the supplier or the cut of the potatoes. I have been coming to TooJays for a long time and about a year ago they changed their brown mushroom gravy which is now too salty and isn't that good tasting. I commented that I thought the gravy was different and the manager denied that it was. Today, my potato pancake tasted like it was cooked in old oil. I will stick with what I do like; the brisket, the matzoh ball soup, the lox, and the rugalach. I have no interest in ordering anything else on the menu because I don't trust that it will be good. I love the food at TooJay's but the service leaves a lot to be desired. I tried to go twice in the past week and walked out both times. The first day I waited with my party for more than 10 minutes at the hostess stand and never saw a hostess. Today I decided to just order take out. I waited at the counter and received no service. There was a lady at the counter weighing food but she never acknowledged me. I could see people in the kitchen but no one ever came out to assist. I believe this TooJays is understaffed. In the past I have received both good and terrible service at this location, but I think I am done. I believe they really don't care about the service they provide. In the past, I have been offered a slice of cake (which I refused) as compensation for a bad experience. I wish they would simply acknowledge and value their customer's time and patronage. We have been to this location on several occasions with just my wife and I and for office lunch. Today I visited to pick up my office lunch. We love the food at TooJay's and at this location the service is phenomenal. The staff is so friendly-it goes a long way when they seem genuinely happy to be there and happy to have you as their guest. Every time you call in an order as we did for instance, they always repeat it back to us, and when you arrive they open the boxes to ensure they got everything correct. True they don't have to, but it goes a long way that they care that much to ensure you have a great experience. It doesn't hurt that the food is great as well! The menus are massive, which can be overwhelming but they are sure to have something for everyone! The portions are large, it's a great value for what you are paying and I would say is well worth it. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone! read more
