I've been here several times and was always insulted by the staff, especially by the head person, whom I take to be the owner. On my last visit I purchased an oversized riveting kit, which looked beat-up and shop-worn, but I needed it for a special my son and I were trying to do inside the driver's door of my Expedition--a window regulator job in a difficult place. It was about $70 for the rivet kit. Upon further review, we decided that this particular job would be too hard to effect for us and that we'd have to take it to some pros. The kit now being without purpose, I took it back to Tool Zone along with my recent receipt, and asked the head man if they would consider giving me either a cash refund or some credit in the store, as It turned out I ended up not using the tool. This arrogant guy read me out and told me I had undoubtedly gotten my job in, used the tool once and wanted to return it now, and what the Hell did I think--was this some kind of goddamn rental center or something? He was unnecessarily loud in all this, apparently getting a kick out of berating me before the other customers. That not one of the rivets supplied in the kit had been used was a fact of little interest to him. I gave him a few parting shots of my own, but had schooled myself in advance, resolving not to get too upset if he wouldn't honor a return, as I had suspected from previous visits what kind of a person and business I was dealing with. And I realize that this being a small business independent business as opposed to a box store, the owner had the right to set his own parameters and restrictions, Then too, I could after all survive a $70 hit. I sold the tool for $10 at a garage sale. A store like this can be handy, and more specialized than say, a Lowes or Home Depot-San, but on the other hand, the quality of their products varies greatly, like a Harbor Tools on the import side of things. It's really not worth dropping in. We do need a high-end tool center in Denver. The magnificent one we had, Tool World I think it was, closed its doors a few years back. I've just learned lately to do without--or to shop on the internet. Quel dommage, eh, mes amis? Mais en fin de comte, c'est la guerre! I recently bought a Bosch hammer drill. It was around $600 after tax. It was cheaper new than the one refurbished at Bosch's repair center on 8th. Doc was knowledgeable and patience with me as this was an expensive piece of machinery for me. I was never pressured and had a pleasurable experience although I was stressed trying to figure out exactly what I needed. Thanks Tool Zone! read more

I have been looking to get a track saw and was torn between either the Festool TS55 or TS75. I believe my Tool Zone sales rep's name was Mike and He knew these tools inside and out. He gave me a thoughtful rundown of both models, pros and cons for how I would be using them for the work that I described. It's rare to find a store these days where the sales person knows anything beyond what the box says about the product... I appreciated his insights which convinced me to go with the TS75. I have shopped at this place for years and love it! They always seem to have what I need, and more of what I want. As a commercial contractor most of the tools I use are pretty standard. There are times when I run into a situation that causes me to need a specialty tool, and I have never been let down by TOOL ZONE. Nice looking store and very friendly staff. Owner was there. Nice selection of tools. This place looked particuarly good if you're looking for the super large size of sockets, pipe wrenches, etc. Has SawStop products which are as good as it gets. If I was after a difficult to find tool this is where I'd go. I'm into woodwork but it looked like they had metalwork and automotive tools as well. This is the best tool store in the area and possibly in all of Denver. These guys have a very large selection of tools in a moderately sized place. When I needed a 26mm hex socket, not only did they have it, they had a 3/4" conversion so I could use it (motorcycle front axle uses a large hex). These guys don't carry home appliances, toiletries, or books. If you're missing wrenches, screwdrivers, or sockets, this is the place to be. If you need some obscure tool that you've only heard of once, they probably have it. This is what a tool store should be. Stop in and see. read more

I wasn't overly impressed. The prices seemed a little high. The power tool selection was mostly DeWalt and Makita which you can find at Home Depot or Lowe's. I told the employee that I was looking for sockets in the quality range above Craftsman but not in the price range of Mac or Snap-On. He pointed me toward a rack on off-brand stuff that was probably similar to Kobalt or Husky. They do have a decent selection of more specialized tools that the average kludger (like myself) never really needs. They also had some small torx and hex bits that I needed in a conveniently sized pack after not finding what I needed at Home Depot. read more

This is the tool store your dad and grandad talk about from "back in their day"!!! They don't sell sheet rock or ply wood....just tools! The staff knows their products and how they should be used. If you don't know what you need, just ask, they always have plenty off floor staff on hand. They sell specialty automotive tools, hand tools, power tools, large shop tools, wood and metal working tools (measuring and cutting), and everything in between. I have been shopping here for years and plan on handing the tools bought here down to my kids! Why wait for online ordering when you go to Tool Zone, put your hands on it, see if it works for you, and then take it home that day! read more

Was a bit concerned after reading the reviews, but I knew what I needed and the advertised price was really good. Called to make sure that they had the saw I wanted in stock. The guy I talked to on the phone was very helpful and made sure that they had what I wanted so that I did not waste a trip. Once in the store, everyone treated me very well and the saw I wanted was on sale as was the larger version. ended up with the bigger saw for the price I was willing to pay for the smaller saw and enjoyed my encounter with the three employees that I spoke to. Today I had the chance to experience the best customer service Tool Zone has to offer. Which is, to say the least, horrible. The worst I personally have ever been treated as a customer. Bear with me through this narrative and I think you will be as pleased as I now am to spend your hard earned dollars elsewhere. I started working as a "carpenter's helper" when I was in high school. A week before I turned 15 in fact. I remember this because for my birthday my parents bought me a nice leather tool belt, the weekend after my first week on the job. A tool belt that since that time has been a daily essential for me for over a decade. But alas, every good thing must come to an end. Last week the belt buckle broke, a true tragedy. I did some research, and as the true patriot that I am I wanted nothing but MADE IN AMERICA stamped on my tool belt. Occidental Leather makes everything in America. Perfect! Now to stick with the same theme I needed to find a local store to buy it from. As a builder I take pride in buying materials and tools from local stores as much as I can, rather than Home Depot or Lowes. I buy almost all of my materials from Front Range Lumber, who by the way has GREAT customer service. Check them out. So I searched for local tool stores and lumber yards that carried Occidental Leather products. That's when I ran across Tool Zone. Guess I should have taken the time to read some reviews before I ran to my truck and sped off to acquire my new pride and joy. Once I was there I marveled at the in stock selection, which allowed me to look past there slightly "higher than Amazon" prices. It's a locally run store after all. So I grabbed the one I wanted, threw my credit card at the cashier and gleefully ran out the door. This was Saturday. Today is Tuesday. Upon getting home I tried everything out. Put my tools in the pouches, careful not to scratch the fresh new leather. I didn't like it. It just didn't feel right. And for $350 it needs to be perfect. But this was one of the pre made sets. So I decided today that I would take it back and exchange it for my own custom set. Buy a belt and select the pouches individually. A little pricier but worth it. So I headed back to the store, tool belt and receipt in hand ready to exchange it. And this is where the fun begins. I told the cashier my intentions and he said sure, leave the belt here at the counter and collect all the new merchandise you want and we'll swap it all out. So I meandered my way over to the tool bags and started to peruse through the selection until I heard a commotion over by the counter. The apparent owner of the establishment picked up my old tool belt and asked if it was mine and I replied yes, I'm here to exchange it. And his response was, and I quote "there's no fucking way I'm taking this back, it's used." I asked him why he thought that because I had yet to use it and he rambled on about the leather looking "roughed up" and dust on one of the pouches. The dust, I explained, is from the bag sitting on your floor. As I calmly wiped it off. He then exploded calling me a "fucking liar" and accusing me of trying to rip him off. I tried to tell him that I never used the belt on a jobsite, there wasn't a hint of chalk dust or sawdust anywhere. This, for some reason just made him more angry and he yelled this time, at a customer, in front of other customers, that I was a "lying little fucker" and I needed to leave. So I did. Never to return. I hope this helps you decide where to not buy your tools in the future. Spare yourself the anguish and embarrassment of getting yelled at and never step foot in this place. read more

On 10/13/12 at approx. 1600 hours I went into toolzone to purchase a crank shaft holder tool for a 98 Acura Integra. Immediately, when I walked into the store, I was met by an older male (40+) with glasses who asked what I was looking for. I explained the tool I needed and he seemed to be annoyed that he had to help me in the location of the tool. Once he showed me to the tool I saw the package said, "91 and later." I asked if this tool would fit a 98 Acura Integra. The employee responded, "I can't guarantee it will fit every car in the world." I respectfully told him that I was simply wondering if it would fit my specific car. Also, I asked if the tool would not fit, could I return it for my money back. The employee told me it was a non-returnable item and that I could not bring it back. I responded, "So if it does not fit I am going to eat $40." The employee responded, "Yes." I replied that I thought that was not very good customer service, which enraged the employee. He stated that it was the policy they held for years and if I did not like it I could not purchase the item. I then asked if I could return the item for something that did fit. The employee said that was the only tool if it's kind. I asked if there was a tool that would work but may not be titled as such. The employee responded, "Well there is probably a tool out there in the world that would work but I don't think it is in the store so no you can't return it." At this point I finally asked to speak with a manger about how I, as a customer, was being treated. The employee responded, "I am the manager." I replied, "You're the manager?" The employee replied, "I'm the owner!" I specifically needed the tool to complete the job at hand therefore I decided to purchase the item, even after the way I was treated. The employee began to enter the item into the register. While doing so, I saw there were business cards on the counter; however, no name was listed. I picked up the business card and a pen and asked, "What's your name sir." The employee responded, "I don't have a name. You can call me boss." I began to tell the employee how I have never been treated in such a manner in any business establishment in my whole life. I used phrases such as "this is ridicules" and " I can't believe this" but the employee continued with his rude attitude. Finally the employee threw back my credit card and snatched up the item stating, "That's it, you're out of here! Get out of here!" The employee kicked me out of Toolzone. That is the first time I have ever been kicked out of an establishment and the first time I have ever been treated with such disrespect by an employee. The employee was not even courteous enough to tell me his name, which shows his guilt. If this certain employee was in the right he would have gladly told me his name for follow up. This is a terrible business ran by terrible employees. I did not speak with every employee but this certain unnamed employee showed the integrity and classiness of the business, which was horrible. I will never set foot inside a Toolzone again and will tell everyone I know who needs a tool to look else ware, for Toolzone is a extremely bad company! read more

Just discovered tool zone and needed a special large socket for my dodge truck could not find it anywhere. Called dozen of places and most didn't even know what I was talking about. Finally called tool zone and they knew exactly what I needed. And THEY HAD IT IN STOCK!! they even had a great price on the socket. Highly recommended store. There selection is awesome and the prices seem more then fair for the quality of there products. What a great store for all the tools and specialty items you need!!!! read more

Very helpful staff and great service. I've been buying from them for years and have gotten some great deals on power tools like the Dewalt 12" sliding compound mitre saw I bough let a couple years ago. I find it funny how you can always find someone who has left a bad review on Yelp. I suspect many of these folks complain about everything in their life. ..take those with a grain of salt. read more

I went in to get new Klein 9" journeyman lineman's, a new safety vest, and a new hammer. The first guy that greeted me was super friendly and helpful. I shopped around for a while and didn't find the hammer I wanted (dewalt 14 oz mig welded framer) or the vest I wanted. Home Depot has better quality vests for 6 bucks, terrible selection. I finically found the lineman's I was looking for behind the counter. I waited for the older guy behind the counter (which after reading the other terrible reviews about him, I assume to be the owner/manager) to get off the phone to help me but he didn't seem to be in a hurry. I grabbed them off the shelf and heard him say something to employee 1 that greeted me about me just coming back behind the counter to grab them. I turned around to apologize and he got rude and I felt like he was calling me a thief as he asked me to leave them on the counter. I put them on the counter and said I'm just going to go to Home Depot. He said good. After I left, I was stewing on it so I called them to ask why he thought I was a thief. He didn't let me talk or explain myself. I was trying to tell him that we spend a considerable amount of money there and that I wouldn't steal. We just bought 4 new hole hawgs from them last week. I work for an electrical contractor with 70+ field employees and will be telling anyone who will listen to stay away from this place. I've been coming here for about two years, and they've always taken care of me very well. People know what they're talking about and they will definitely make recommendations to make sure you getting the right tools and not just wasting money. Some people may think you're trying to be up-sold, but as a Carpender myself I understand what it's like to buy a tool that's a little bit cheaper and then realizing that spending that extra 20% would've made all of the difference. A couple of weeks ago my father and I bought a new electric air compressor from here and our so called electrician was setting it up when he broke one of the parts on it we went back to the store and every single employee there was helpful and nice they even went as far as to stay after closing so we can return our compressor and switch it for a new one and not only that they also helped set it up and got it running for us before we took it to be sure that it is set up correctly and working they stayed well over an hour after closing just to make sure we were satisfied and they were happy to do it they were not obligated nor did we ask for them to do that they did it out of good heart and kindness we also tried giving them some cash for the help and they refused they said they just wanted to see w customer satisfied. We were definitely satisfied and will definitely be returning for any of our tool needs. read more

Bad service! I was going to buy a tool bag their and the cashier guy was a jerk, I left it there and walked out. I mentioned I liked the bag and I wasn't sure if it would fit my tools and I was going so I asked about the return policy while telling him I was going to measure it out with some tools: his reply was you better not even buy it if you going to put your tools in it and try to return it! I told him my tools are clean but he was still giving me a smart ass remark, I called the manger later and he didn't care. My intension was to keep it not waste anyone's time but they just didn't care about selling it. They also follow you around like your going to steal something, which you can pass but altogether makes the experience bad. These guys are prejudice is what I can conclude. read more

I have been buying tools from Tool Zone since right after they opened 18 years ago. Larry, Greg, Jeff and Phill have all become friends of mine. I have ALWAYS been treated with respect and have NEVER had a bad experience. There have been a few tools or accessories that they did not have in the store, but have been very good about ordering them and calling me when they arrived at the store. I have read a couple of poor reviews, mostly from people who didn't like the way they were treated. It's been my experience in life that you will never please everyone. Some people just can't be made happy. Another possible reason is that the people do not know what they want or aren't real clear on what they need to do. One person wrote that he wanted Tool Zone to guarantee the tool for the specific job. That's not their responsibility. It's the manufactirer's. Then there are the low lifes who buy the tool, do the work and then bring it back expecting to get their money back. They make all sorts of false claims. No tool store will stay in business long if they just loan tools. If you are an honest person looking to find a tool to use for a job, Tool Zone is the place to go. They are good people who sell quality tools at a reasonable price. They are knowledgeable and will explain the use of the tool, but I would never expect them to guarantee that the tool will do the job. read more

I made a payment with credit card which was then refused and a wire transfer was demanded. Was told after that paypal was acceptable in which I obliged and then told Paypal was not acceptable. This place has stuff in stock thats for sure but your going to pay for it!. Nearly every single thing in the store is 10% or more OVER full retail. They wanted $169 for a nail gun i got at lowes for $129. Avoid at all costs unless you like burning money. read more

The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and we always receive immediate service. My review is based off of many visits and encounters over a two year period. Most of the other reviews tell you all you need to know about this place. I've been here three times, each time thinking this will be the visit that changes my mind and every time I walk away more disappointed and frustrated than the time before. Third time was definitely not the charm. The staff here is a bunch of pretentious jerks that talk down to you like you've never seen tools before or don't have a clue about tools and what your looking for, essentially telling you what it is you need as opposed to listening to what you need. I assume this is because of the selection they don't carry. For a tool store their selection is at best mediocre offering nothing exceptional beyond their competitors and as everyone else has stated tools here are outrageously priced. How they even stay in business is beyond me. But the best or worse part of the whole experience is the theft prevention guy who stands around watching you like a coyote waiting to pounce, of course at these prices and with a terrible staff it's no wonder they have to watch you like a hawk.
