So much variety, everything looked fresh, and the price was actually reasonable. Plot twist: the buffet won. I left full, happy, and pleasantly surprised. Will Never be back to this place. We came from Overland Park Ks for my Birthday dinner. Almost everything on the buffet was cold!!!! Both of us got dreadful sick on the way home, stopping at every truck stop for a bathroom. Was a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!! THE STAFF WAS VERY NICE. I've seen Toot-Toot on lists of Missouri's iconic restaurants, yet have never stopped in the multiple times I've driven past Bethany on my way between KC and Des Moines. Last Sunday morning at 9am, we stopped in for the breakfast buffet. It's very easy to give a mediocre review for most buffets, but this one stands out as the best breakfast buffet I've ever sampled. Tons of meats: large sausage links, thick slices of country ham, mountains of bacon, chicken fried steak and chicken filets.... Then add about 15 more side items that included eggs, gravy burritos, crepes, oatmeal, pancakes, fruit, sauces... For $12 it was not only priced right, but stocked well, fresh and hot and a friendly and professional waitress kept the coffee cup filled. I can't think of a single thing that would warrant anything less than 5 stars and a repeat visit when in the area next time. read more

The service here was fantastic! Waitress was super attentive and friendly, and although it took us a while to cash out, it was because the cashier was chatting with an older man who was a local she knew by name, so I thought that was sweet. The food in the buffet was meh. A few things were really good, but almost everything else was not. Fried chicken was overcooked and dry, baked chicken was chewy, fried catfish that I was SO excited to see in the buffet was also dry and could barely chew it. Salad and dessert bar were solid with great choices. I'm hoping it was an off day. We were traveling between Des Moines and Kansas City, and have passed by Bethany many times. But the last time we stopped at the Dairy Queen and had a better meal, and will probably do so next time too. read more

We were on a road trip back from MO & saw this sign for a restaurant named TOOT TOOT.. We laughed, didn't think twice & said we must stop! Having no idea what we were in for but very pleasantly surprised! The buffet seemed to be popular & looked delicious, although we were not that hungry, decided on hamburgers instead. The staff was very busy & it did take some time for drinks & placing an order, but it was a fun atmosphere! When the burgers arrived we were blown away with the size & portions. I ate here with a buddy on the way back to Des Moines, IA from Kansas City, MO. What a great time! The food was hot & always coming out fresh. The selection was perfect. The prime rib was really good, the fried fish fillets were delicious, the ham was juicy, the cheesy jalapeños were tasty, the fried and baked chicken were both excellent, and the ice cream from the soft serve machine was a nice way to end the feast. The price was very fair, and I highly recommend giving this classic spot a try. I will definitely be returning next time I'm passing through. read more

The good started out good then I got to the meatloaf and found white plastic string in it like a twister on bread. We traveled 4 hours to come up to this restaurant that we heard so good bout I just had 5 teeth extracted and the meatloaf was soft enough to eat .We will not be back all they could say was sorry the manager didn't know anything bout it the waitress took the plastic to the kitchen.they didn't make attempt to make it right .Very disappointed in a restaurant that was talked about that was good food. read more

So I scored in Bethany MO. I got a reasonable, well cheap but clean room and a heads up in a family style place down the road. No down the street here it's all 'down the road'. Toot Toots stick out like a true hometown roadside joint. Country music playing inside. I'm a fish outta water here but a lot of smiles came my way. Plenty of home town folks and what looks like a good buffet but I did that already today so I checked out their menu. A good selection of homemade home style meals. The server Cooper, was really cool, informative and friendly as are all her co-workers. I saw more smiles in this place in an hour that I've seen in the last 500 miles. She was super helpful on my choice of burger and side of homemade macaroni salad. Now the Swiss mushroom burger was righteous! Every bit a half pound. A real hand partied burger done nicely with fresh crisp veggies on top. The macaroni salad in definitely homemade and just as good. All very worth every penny! It would have cost me more at McDonald's for garbage. Please try this place! The decor is true rural MO style. No fake store bought dress up stuff the real deal here. Very clean and homey feeling. Comfortable tables and a huge parking lot. I can see how this place can get jamming on a weekend. They have a huge parking lot a big plus and something the city boy I am I'm just not used to. The server even convinced me to check out breakfast in the a.m. I'm looking forward to it! There really is a lot to say about this place. Real deal, great food, comfortable, friendly as hell and price points you can't beat. I ready for breakfast already so I'll see ya in the morning. Great place to eat! We didn't try the buffet, though it looked (and smelled) fantastic, but got the pork tenderloin and a chef salad instead. Generous portions, for sure! My husband stops here often on his way to Des Moines for business. Servers were friendly, food came out super fast, and the restaurant itself was very clean. I'm not sure I've ever seen such a shiny front door before! One thing of note: their menu has been updated and is now a single-page menu rather than the multi-page one shown in previous reviews. Had to check this place out as I was passing through this part of America. A name like Toot Toots...well you have to. Plenty of parking. Inside ... it's OK. Very friendly staff to help you out. Even though I was having the buffet, a couple of servers made sure I didn't need anything else. Even got corn bread at the table. Delicious. With cinnamon butter! THE BUFFET: I will say usually you don't expect a lot from buffet, but, this one is pretty darn good. I had a nice salad, and there are a bunch of side veggies and dressings and other stuff to throw on there. Bean salad. Potato salad. Big selection. Tasted fresh and very good. I went back for some fried catfish, fried chicken, mashed potatos, corn, and a little stuff. Really well made, not greasy, the rest of the sides... Delicious! It is a nice small town restaurant that is based mostly around their buffet. Over several visits here I have found the food on the buffet to be well stocked and freshened frequently. Nice salad bar with mixed lettuce, toppings and dressings, and several other cold salads. Bread choices Ann's then multiple hot dinner items. Usually fried chicken, a sliced meat, fish and typically a few other meat choices. Then veggies and potatoes. Finish up with a soft serve ice crème cone or a choice of 4 or so cobblers and bread pudding options. They have a full menu, but I have only ever orders from buffet. Stopped on vacation. Plenty of space inside. They offered a buffet but I ordered triple decker club. It was huge!! Fresh thinly sliced ham turkey with lettuce and tomato. Order a side salad that had tomatoes onions and cheese also very fresh. Husband ordered the tenderloin, 8oz but they also offer a 4oz. thick and flavorful. Iced tea was freshly brewed.
