His work was great, though my beard wasn't too unruly. But he nevertheless took his time, used a comfortable hot towel treatment, and did a great job. Would highly recommend, especially for the locals.

I'm disappointed to say that the negative reviews about The Village Barber are true. If I had just…read moreone bad experience, I probably wouldn't have bothered writing this review. But after three bad experiences, I feel compelled to warn others. Six months ago, I called twice on different days and left voicemails to schedule an appointment--no response. Despite this, I decided to give Gareth a try, even though I had a bad taste in my mouth and had read multiple negative reviews. I booked an appointment online for 9:00 AM, received a confirmation, and even multiple reminders leading up to the appointment. I showed up promptly at 8:55 AM, but no one was there. Another barber arrived at 9:05 and said Gareth should be on his way. By 9:20, she informed me Gareth didn't have me on his calendar--despite all the reminders from his booking system. What makes this even worse is that it's the day before Thanksgiving, and I desperately needed a haircut since I'm seeing a lot of family after a very long time. Having my time wasted like this on such an important day is unacceptable. At the very least, be honest. If I'm getting multiple reminders from your booking system, I'm certain you are as well. This reflects poorly on your professionalism. Wasting a client's time is inexcusable. If this happens, Gareth, at the very least, offer a free haircut to make up for it. It wouldn't erase the frustration, but it would show some effort to make things right.

Since my regular hairstylist was out of town, I decided to go to Floyd's. Walked in yesterday around 4:45pm w/out an appointment and the guy at the front by the name of Robert checked me in and told me that it will be a 30 min. wait. I agreed and took a seat in the shop. I have had my ups and downs with this place. The last lady that I have seen here who did a marvelous job was Brit who no longer works there. Anyway, didn't wait that long, after 25 minutes of waiting, Nick welcomed me with a pleasant smile and I took a seat on the chair. He gave me an excellent wash/shampoo and did a good, clean job. He was also gentle with my hair. We had a small talk, and boom, job was done in less than 10 minutes!! The whole entire wall is covered with famous celebrities. They have been around for over 25 years and their expertise are: color, wash, cut, blow dry, beard trims, straight-razor shares & shoulder massage. The prices are a tad expensive, so that's why I only go for the wash. They have a lot of different types of products and don't try to sell anything to you unless you are interested to buy something. Nick earned his tip, I got my wash, only paid $6.00 and was out of there. Where else can you get a $6 wash?? Gender neutral restroom, very clean, shop was very clean, and few spots of parking spaces in the back & on the street. Thank you Floyd's, Robert, & Nick:-)) They also have other locations.

Absolutely unacceptable experience. My daughter has been going to Floyd's for years, but after her…read morelongtime stylist left, we trusted someone new--and that was a huge mistake. She walked in with beautiful, waist-length hair and asked for simple long layers with light face-framing. What she got was a butchered, uneven, lopsided mess that looks nothing like what she requested. The stylist kept cutting and cutting, clearly out of her depth, until the damage was beyond repair. We are now stuck spending thousands of dollars on extensions and corrective work just to make her hair presentable again. The stylist, Ally (with orange hair), should not be taking clients for services she clearly does not know how to perform. If she lacked the skill, she should have had the professionalism to hand the appointment off to someone who was capable. Instead, she chose to proceed and completely ruined my daughter's hair. We will never be returning. I live in Studio City, and many of my family and friends are Floyd's clients--I will absolutely be sharing this experience and strongly encouraging them to take their business elsewhere.

I just recently found out about Lisa's passing and I am so sad to hear this news. Myself and my…read moreboyfriend went to her for our haircuts. She did a great job at a decent price. Something that's hard to come by in this town. I'll miss our conversations because we had a lot in common. We've been going to her for almost 6 years. She had a good heart and was always so nice to us. We'll miss you Lisa. Rest in peace.

This review is long overdue…read more My son, who never used to care about his hair, turned thirteen and suddenly...he REALLY cared. We had tried everything -- high-end salons, driving all the way to the OC for a trusted family stylist, and everything in between. Nothing quite stuck. Then I searched "men's scissor haircut" on Yelp and found Lisa. Lisa cut my son's hair, and we never looked back. It genuinely changed his self-esteem. She was an artist -- no clipper cuts, just careful, thoughtful scissor work. She connected with him, gave him exactly the look he wanted, and somehow turned that teenage scowl into a smile. It was more than a haircut, it was confidence. Sadly, February was the last cut she would give him. We learned in March that Lisa was ill. We had only briefly met Rochelle before, and while she was lovely, we hadn't really seen her work. Still, we booked with her, hoping -- maybe unrealistically -- that lightning could strike twice. Somehow... it did. Honestly, more like an electrical storm. Rochelle told us she was "just following Lisa's lines," but it's clearly more than that. Especially considering she stepped in after losing her friend and business partner -- that alone is incredible. She gave my son an even cleaner, slightly shorter cut, still using only scissors, and somehow kept all the texture, fringe, and movement that kids his age care so much about right now. She also finishes with a close neck shave and offers a choice of Thayer's witch hazel or a creamy toner -- it's a full experience. The location is super convenient (right near the middle school), appointments are easy, parking is simple, and everything is clean and efficient. And for anyone wondering -- a 14-year-old boy's approval is not easy to earn. This age group knows their hair. They care. They have opinions. And as they'd say, Rochelle gives a "fire" cut -- at a price moms will appreciate. You'd easily pay three times as much elsewhere in L.A. for less. Highly recommend. P.S. Rest in peace, Lisa. You were deeply loved, and you made a lasting impact on my son. You were truly the best.
