What can I say? This is a great barber located in Burbank on Olive Ave. Today I needed to cut my COVID hair and finally took the leap in going into a Barbershop finally for over six months due to the pandemic closures of businesses. Long story short, I met up with 'Big O' at the door and he called in one of his great barbers, Jason, in to cut my hair today. Overall, they were super cool barbers, clean, and had a solid procedure in place for COVID to keep everyone safe. They first take your temperature and require you to wear a mask when you walk in. Once you get in the chair, you can take your mask off, but they keep their masks on at all times and keep everything clean while cutting your hair, so it's not a problem. Thankfully, Jason cut my hair, who is a really good barber and a cool dude to talk to. Highly recommend him. Next to him was, Enzo, who also seemed really cool as well and of course 'Big O' the owner who was super cool as well. Overall, I got a great haircut and will return back to their shop again to get my next haircut. If you need a trim, call these guys up to get an appointment. You won't regret it. I was at Big Os barbarshop the first week it opened. Oscar cut my hair and it was about $25 at the time. I paid him $27 and he billed me $30. Great haircut, but dishonest and thief barber. Edit: Yes I agree you opened a few years ago. I cannot recall the exact year. This "rounding up", occured twice. I have learned my lesson checking my statements; granted I have never signed an agreement to pay 27 something and be billed a solid 30. I was younger then; I did not think of yelping it a the time but I got to say I roll with your original employer, Oscar's Barbarshop to begin with when I do happen to be in town. I go go school out of town now so I cannot come in person. My Venmo is Husbeats. With inflation that rate today is probably an $8 loss but if you want to voluntarily agree to a $10 penalty I would consider it ethical and I'll agree to give you receipt you here. No inconvenience fee, but I overall don't like being stolen from. Good ethics has no price.Thanks. read more

Ruben is amazing!!! I braid hair and my friend told me about this barber shop and a new barber named Ruben. I have been wanting to shave my head for awhile but was too scared. So many things could go wrong! He drops the clippers and cuts the rest of my hair, goes into my hair line, messes up the size of the portion I want. I booked with Ruben online which was super convenient. The place is nice and clean, it has a lot of character and great energy. The barbers are funny and hospitable. Ruben did an amazing job!!!! Start booking while you can, one of the best places to get a cut I followed my barber Angel from Van Nuys all the way out here. What was a 5min drive now takes about 30-40min. This alone should show the talent that this guy has. Super friendly, meticulous (and great) with his work, great conversationalist, and will not bullshit you. NEVER DISAPPOINTS!!! Called a few spots fairy late into the day hoping to get a beard line up. Only one other spot had availability, and they were charging $30 just for a beard line up. No trim, no nothing. I got lucky I called Big O's. The dude who picked up was able to squeeze me in and give me half the rate of the other place. He first clarified exactly what I want, and gave me a very fair price. 30 minutes later I arrived, got my temperature checked, and Jay (pardon the spelling if I got it wrong) absolutely killed it. If you're looking for a classic scissor cut, I wouldn't recommend Ruben. I could tell from the initial conversation that Ruben wasn't going to be comfortable doing a scissor job, but I decided to go along with it because the guy on the phone said any of the barbers at the shop could handle it. I even gave Ruben a visual reference on my phone, and told him that I am generally very happy with my hair as it is right now, and am looking for a cleanup more than anything. After doing a minute of scissor work, Ruben took out the clippers and hacked away at the sides of my head. I also gave him specific instructions to try to keep hair on the sides of my head looking flatter/straighter, as I have a very round head shape and I prefer a flatter look - this has never been a problem for experienced barbers elsewhere, but Ruben didn't take the direction well and I ended up with exactly what I didn't want - a round, bowl-shaped silhouette on my sides. Compared to my usual barber in Downtown LA (and another I like in Burbank), Ruben was not particularly adept with scissors and I could tell he was struggling to find a line and cut with experience/intuition. After a shampoo and style (an underwhelming style, mind you), I ended up with a disaster that I now have to deal with at a wedding this weekend, and grow out so that my regular barber can fix it next time I see him. Going to a new barber is always a crapshoot. The irony here is that Ruben and I were joking about how many barbers in LA don't know what they're doing - sorry Ruben, you're one of them. read more

Leaving this in behalf of Lawrence. Ruben the RAZOR is his barber and am glad we finally found a barber who we can go to. We've been to so many shops and either the barber stops listening to you because they get comfortable or they just get lazy, but Ruben has always been consistent with how he cuts my hair. He listens and makes sure we're happy with our cut. Big thing is he listens and cuts reallyyy well. Funny guy too. Everyone at the shop is super welcoming and make you feel at home.
