We love the specials and happy hours they have during the week. Normally have good service and good food, but not the best experience Friday night with Asia. I've never seen her before so maybe she is new, but my husband orders wings and I get the pulled pork nachos every time we come here. I usually ask for the barbecue pulled pork nachos to not have scallions on them and extra sour cream. The barbecue pulled pork nachos came out with no barbecue sauce on them and I kindly asked the server, after not having been checked on for about 15 minutes, for a side of barbecue sauce after questioning if it was supposed to come with Barbecue sauce. She stated that she thought I ordered the "Kicked Up Nachos" which are buffalo chicken I believe, and otherwise completely different nachos as to what was in front of me. Basically I felt like she was lying to me, which I didn't appreciate. If she didn't know, she should have said so. Anyway, we will try again, but bet on we never sit with her again. In addition, we can't stand the two booths that face each other. They always try to seat these booths first, but it's awkward when my husband and I are trying to enjoy dinner, and they seat a family with kids bouncing on the seats directly across from us, in the same booth. If there was a negative 5 I would give this fake burger place. I was a bit suspicious when our orders arrived in just 3 minutes after ordering. When I bit into my burger the truth was known. It was a precooked Patty then microwaved to order. There is no other way for food to be so hot all the way thru like that unless it was microwaved. I have cooked for many years and it is a crime to call this food. The worse place on earth. To say the food sucks would be a compliment. The Place is very nice and staff is OK. This evening I went to Top Dawg Tavern as I do a few times a week. For the last few years I have felt that the staff works hard to keep clients happy. Today I was in the restaurant and went to the restroom to find that the floor had been cleaned with either greasy water or the wrong solution. I found myself stuck in the restroom with my legs spreading because I couldn't get traction on the floor. I could feel the pain in my legs. I got my way slowly out of the restroom and went let Mike, the acting manager to let him know that that I had slipped in the restroom and someone could get seriously injured. Mike proceeded to tell me that he could fix the issue if I let him do his job and leave him alone. I have never in my life been talked to so rude from a acting manager as I was tonight. I was never asked if I was okay, or if I needed and care. Once I went back into the lobby to go home, many others were finding the same issue. I hope that nobody gets hurt more that I feel I have.. Some people can't handle stress, or they shouldn't work with the public. read more

We come here often and last night came for my husband's birthday. We had a group of 16 which we called ahead and they had a large table set up for us. More people showed up and they graciously added more tables without a problem (it was a Wednesday night, so not busy). Service was great especially for as many people as we had. Everyone enjoyed their food and it came in a good time span for when we ordered. I see people gripe about the food here, but we've always enjoyed it. Needless to say, we stick to the bar food or the make your own salad, but we enjoy Top Dawg Tavern and they did a great job to make my husband's birthday a fun time for all of us. read more

One of my new favorite spots. I considering trying this place years ago but the reviews weren't that great so I went elsewhere. What a mistake. They may have had there issues in the past but this place now has corporate backing and is under new management. I had a long conversation with the bartender Hillary (bonded over having the same name) and she was very knowledgeable not only about the changes throughout this chain but great bar and menu knowledge. I am on a strict diet and she was able to help guide me to healthy choices. The people I was with got wings and burgers. They said they were delicious and since this is a tavern I was not too surprised. However, I was shocked by their salad options. I got the build your own salad and all of the toppings and lettuce were very fresh. I love going out to eat but because I have to eat very healthy I've been forced to eat a lot of salads. This place by far has the best salad quality and options I've ever seen. Midway through my salad the manager came over to check on our experience. Previously being a manager, I really respected this. I continued to watch her do table touches throughout the restaurant, which shows the people here actually care and are going to put in the work in order to make sure you have an enjoyable experience. The wings have been undercooked my last two visits. Not only are the flavors not very good, but the wing sauces and salad dressings taste like they are straight out of a plastic jug. Listen up Mr. Owner, you better make some changes now or you will be wondering why you didn't make in in the food business. $1 per small wing? $5 for a burger with a 3 oz. patty on it? $3.00 for a .99 Quik Trip hot dog? $2 per chicken finger. And another $2 for fries? These are just examples of food that is either frozen, boxed, or canned. Nothing I have ordered here was fresh or worth the $$ they are charging. And, the waitresses do not have a clue about what is going on in the kitchen. Just ask them if the BBQ is smoked on the premises and see what I mean. I live a couple of miles away and the wife wanted to try it yesterday. The service was ok, the food.... It's 50/50. My wife liked hers just fine, but I went home and spent the next twelve hours hugging the toilet from food poisoning. It's the only food I ate that day so that pretty well clinches it. I was more than unimpressed with Top Dog Tavern. Wanted to visit here for several weeks after driving by, finally decided to give the place a try today. The only thing good about the place is the atmosphere. It is pretty decent and the place is clean, keep in mind it is a brand new establishment though. I ordered the black and bleu burger adding Jalapeno and mushrooms. We also got a side of chicken bites for my daughter who is two. I looked at their list of beer which was a very limited list of beverages on tap. The menu tells you to ask your waitress for what they have available for bottles. The waitress could not remember any of the list of ten or so bottled beers she then fans through her black book only to hand me a dirty piece of small paper with the less than quality bottled beers. The beer selection here is atrocious in my opinion. Now onto the food: the meat on my burger was tough and overcooked no doubt about it, very dry and tasteless. They gave me raw uncooked mushrooms on the side which I found mind blowing. It is a burger not a salad. No one that is sane or has any sort of pallet is going to want raw white mushrooms on a burger. The breading on the chicken bites I ordered for my daughter was so hard they were inedible. I had trouble chewing them without it causing pain so there was no way she was going to be able to eat them. You must have one of two things to be a good bar: good food or a great beverage selection. This place has neither. Let's take Taco mac for instance, they have TERRIBLE food but they have a great beverage list which is why they are able to get so many customers. If they did not have the great beverage list they would probably not still be in business. Service was mediocre at best, not very personable, young kids, very dry, and slow to boot. The best time to have a great business model is when a business opens. If you do not have a sound business model you will lose a large number of repeat customers and most definitely word of mouth customers. Would love to come into this place as a business adviser but am already busy enough advising 200 other companies. I know business inside and out, and this place is lacking a lot. My family and I have been to Top Dawg twice on Tuesday night for the 50 cent wings. We love wings and these are a good deal at 50 cents a piece. The wings are large, but they're cooked well so as to not be flabby. The lemon pepper wings lacked flavor and tasted as if there was no seasoning at all, but the hot wings were good. The service was good, but the wait time for the food was extremely long -about 45 minutes on each visit. The restaurant was not very crowded on either of our visits, so I think the wait time for the food was excessive, especially since it only takes 10-15 minutes to cook fresh wings. We will probably try it again, but if the wait time is excessive again, I doubt we will return. read more

We waited for about 10 minutes before someone even came to the front to bring us to a table. It took about 45 minutes for our food to come out even though there were only 3 other tables at the time. I ordered the Southern BLT with fries and it was completely tasteless. My friend ordered the Creamy Chicken Salad with "seasoned" rice and it was also completely tasteless. Her food however was also cold, and the rice remained tasteless even after adding COPIOUS amounts of salt. The only reason this isn't a 1 star is because the atmosphere was fine, but the service wasn't great and the food was complete garbage. read more

My family and I came in to Top Dawg a few days ago, and it was our first time. Within only around 30 seconds of being seated, we were greeted cordially by our server Kimberlee. She was awesome- very knowledgeable about the menu, had great suggestions, and always had a smile on her face. Our drinks were kept full and she checked on us periodically. The food was very good and filling, and came out in a timely manner. As expected of bar food, it was a little pricey for the amount of food given, but otherwise no complaints. Lets calls this review "NEVER AGAIN! Run don't walk away from this horrible restaurant!!!!!!!! My husband and I are new to the area, We moved here from Florida in March. We decided to stop in because we saw their ad on TV and we wanted to find a good restaurant in our area. The meal was slow and we had to ask the waitress to bring our salads since it was taking quite a while. Note: there were only 3 otther tables eating! Finally the salad and food came and we were disappointed, the food was flavorless and bland, not being complainers we tried to eat the meal anyway. Before we completed the meal the waitress brought the check. With my mouth full I stated isn't it a bit soon we haven't even finished our salad. She smiled and said " OH" ops no rush! My husband gave the waitress one of our credit cards even though we hadn't finished. She was gone forever, and finally came back and said OH! another couple paid your check for you because your card was declined. "I look at the waitress in disbelief" I asked her how did other diners know about the card situation, she stated I didn't know how to handle it I didn't want to upset you so I shared it with a table of friends and they agreed to pay your check and even gave me a tip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What!!!! I stated are you for real, the card provided had NEVER BEEN USED so where was the problem. More importantly why did she not share the situation with us instead of perfect strangers. We asked for the General Manager who smothed it over by stating she was new and was told never do it again (REALLY) Oh! did I mention we were the ONLY BLACK COUPLE IN THE RESTAURANT. The first time I went, I didn't care for the service. We had a woman server and she seemed so uninterested and had no personality. She just asked basic questions and didn't really make us feel welcome. But I decided to take my family there and I told them how I loved the open layout of the building and seats. We absolutely LOVED our server, Phyllip. My family is crazy and he was good with taking whatever crazy thing we said or did and just went with it, he laughed with us and had a great personality. He actually talked to us like people, not some random table could couldn't care less about. We even clapped for him because he brought us extra napkins before our food got there without us having to ask, and that hasn't ever happened before. The pulled pork was good, the toast not so much. Tonight was our third visit to Top Dog Tavern and we will not be back. The first two times we figured they were working on some of the kinks but tonight told me they are just not that good. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. The service is good. The food however is poor for the price that you pay. We ordered chicken wings tonight with fires. The fries were cold and the chicken wings were tiny for the price of a dollar a wing. They were also overcooked and dry. On previous visits we had a burger that was average, the fish and chips that were straight from a box, and the chicken pasta dish that was tasteless. Went in for my daughters birthday and I can promise you I will NEVER go back. The food was horrible, frozen, over cooked, and way over priced for what it is. When all was said and done we asked if they could sing happy birthday to my daughter who was turning 13 and our server couldn't get anyone to sing. When she went to the manager (owner) to see if he could get everyone to sing he told her "no, we've never done that before and we damn sure aren't starting now". I couldn't believe it, a place that considers itself a "family" restaurant sure doesn't treat the families that come in very well. I wouldn't recommend the hot dogs. (although I suspected these would have been their most prized dish, which unfortunately resulted in dissatisfaction) The buns of the hot dogs had a soggy consistency of wal-mart branded ones. The hot dog itself wasn't anything to be crazed over and wasn't long enough for the bun itself. To be honest, I could have made these hot dogs at home and probably for better and most definitely cheaper. When looking to order two hot dogs and four small portioned onion rings for around $8.50 I look for more top quality ingredients, not something I could easily make at home for less then a quarter of the price. A few of my companions who i ate dinner along with ordered the french fries and various other sides that had disappointingly laughable portions that are even more stingy and cheap then a middle school cafeteria. I was still hungry after eating my meal. Pretty disappointed with Top Dawg Tavern and their food and portions. They should probably stick to being only a bar because the food itself is very sad. Just finished a mediocre meal at Top Dawg Tavern. Less than 20 customers in the place including the bar. We were seated quickly, it was clean. Ashley was our server. Problem is, when I ordered a Swiss and bacon cheeseburger, that's what I expected. Okay, so when it comes out it's got cheddar on it. I let her know and she takes it back to the kitchen. 6 or 7 minutes pass and she brings me out the same (now cold) fries and bun and a burger that has been scraped of the cheddar cheese and gas a piece of Swiss melted over it. Problem. I ask her if this us normal and she tells me they make everything fresh. I point out the old cheese and she asks if I want them to remake the whole thing- at this point I'm not going to eat anything else out of the kitchen. I know what happens when you piss off the line cook. Not to mention the burger is AT MOST 1/4lb and looks like it was made at Steak and Shake. Tomato is still green. She's not concerned and comes back 10 minutes later to check on us. Pretty pathetic, all in all. It could have been a good experience, but I won't spend my money somewhere they screw up and expect me to eat half assed cold food at full price. No thanks, I'll go somewhere else. You should consider it too. The food at El Centinela in Winder is excellent. Go there instead. read more
