My last visit here was different from my normal habit. I generally go to this restaurant for the food. This time I wanted some relief from some of the stress I had been suffering. So I decided that something with Tequila was going to be imbibed. Recently my oldest son (yes he is of drinking age), who works in the spirit industry introduced me to the Paloma. I prefer mine with a reposado and that is how Las Margaritias makes theirs. As usual I was promptly served and always with a smile. The owner came by and said hello, even though the place was crowded. In case you are wandering, a medium sized Paloma, consumed with only a modicum of food, was enough to drag me out of the blues. I ordered lunch for 4 people and picked it up today. I will not go back here. They left the rice out of the 3 Taco lunch. If the Chimichanga was fried it was very little. It was limp and soggy. The tacos were mostly lettuce with very little meat. I ordered chicken nachos with no peppers. They put the peppers in anyway. The side of beans was 14 beans ( My nephew counted them) floating in water. The cheese dip looked and tasted like milk. There were only a few peppers in it. I ordered 2 large and 1 small cheese dips. After visiting a few times, over a few years ... The staff are friendly, the food basic, the location always clean ... The main issue is pricing - in the area there are well over 10 Mexican locations, some with better food, but almost all have better pricing. If you want good Mexican with a fair price, go elsewhere. read more

We usually go to this restaurant and it usually is pretty good. We would have good service and friendly people. But we went tonight and had Camelot as our server. He was terrible we ran out of chips and he didn't come around for like 15 minutes and then he took 20 minutes to make our 4 margaritas. And then my wife's food was cold. This was such a bad experience we will not be going back for a while. It normally is good but has been going downhill and this may have been the final draw. I was driving back to Gwinnett from Athens with my family and it was dinner time so I wanted to take my parents to a Mexican place and Las Margaritas in Winder was great! We got there before the dinner rush so we got seated right away. We got chips and salsa right away and the salsa was perfect. We got drinks right away too. The server was pretty quick. On fridays my parents are vegetarian so we got a couple things off the vegetarian menu! All were Good to Pretty Good but my favorite was their supreme taco with beans instead of beef. Their tostadas also hit the spot since my parents love Taco Bell and Taco Bell got rid of their tostadas. Of course Las Margaritas Bean Tostadas were a huge upgrade from Taco Bell's anyway. We got a veggie quesidilla too. I liked it, but my mom found it very broccoli-heavy. It had a good variety of vegetables in my opinion so if you like that, you'll like the veggie quesidilla plate. The bean burrito was also great. Rice and beans came with all our dishes and the price was really good too especially for the price of restaurants these days. The atmosphere could be better but the food is always delicious. The salsa is perfect with big chunks of onions and the cheese dip is the best around. I will caution you that the sides listed on the menu may vary from what they bring out so be specific when you order. I ordered the enchiladas verdes which is 3 enchiladas and rice on the menu but what I got was 5 enchiladas and no sides. I'm good with it so I ate my 3 enchiladas and took the rest home for the next day. But this isn't the first time my order has been different from the menu so make sure you let them know exactly what you want. I drive by this place everyday and finally decided to give it a try because getting home late and cooking dinner wasn't an option that evening. The service here is AMAZING from the moment we entered and left. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. You get free chips and salsa. We ordered the Carne Asada, steak tacos, kids chicken strips, Parrillada. Everything was delicious and all the portions were huge. We had take some home. 4 stars because my carne asada was kinda dry. My brief experience here was excellent! I came in right before closing time. I wanted to pay tribute to and remember Jimmy Buffett on the day of his passing by having a margarita. They seated me and served me promptly. I asked for a small frozen house margarita and my server had it and a bowl of chips and salsa out in seconds. The chips were good but the margarita was perfect! Frozen but not too thick and very flavorful with just the right amount of tequila. And the price was very reasonable. For a moment I thought I had been served the large instead of the small. First, let me start by saying I NEVER leave reviews for places. Las Margaritas was such a good experience for us, that I had to give this new place the review it deserved! I had the Chicken Zucchini and it was phenomenal - I was served an entire medium sized zucchini that was cut in half and filled with queso, chicken, and onions. I was more than excited to box up my leftovers for tomorrow and would recommend this dish to anyone! My boyfriend ordered the Texas Rice and raved about it and it's portion size as well. We also had esquites which is worth the order if you feel like spending another $3-$4. Finally, I had a peach margarita that was made so well - perfectly mixed with a solid amount of tequila! Next, let's talk about the service. We walked into Las Margaritas on a Friday at 8pm and were immediately greeted and sat to a booth. A waitress came by with chips and salsa before we met our server for the evening. When we met our server, he was very friendly and helpful when trying to decide what to order from the extensive menu! After ordering, it took LESS THAN 10 MINS to get our food. It was hot out of the kitchen and I was impressed with the quick service! Now, to compare to another local place in Winder. We tried Ranchi Viejo before COVID-19 and let me tell ya, Las Margaritas is much better! While the atmosphere isn't quite as fun, the food made up the difference! I can't get over how flavorful everything was and how big the portions were. We spent $50 before tip at Las Margs for two main entrees, a side of esquites, a small cheese dip, a peach margarita, and a soda - not bad compared to the $70 we spent at Rancho Viejo for the same amount of food with less than half the portions and taste. Food is delicious, I had the chicken Cancún perfectly cooked chicken and veggies on top and the sauce so tasty. Came with rice and beans and tortillas. Husband had the seafood poblano, also very delicious.
