Fourteen years and now in a house? Yes, time for an update…read more Four cats and a 70 pound dog go through a lot of food. Most of the time, we're buying it from Chewy who do a great job. Sometimes, they're spendier and so I am buying stuff from PetSmart. This one is closest to home and it's a good store. Organized, prices are clearly marked and there's almost always plenty of the specific food that my fur babies like. There's also usually a deal. The store is clean and bright. The staff here are kind and helpful. And you can bring your dog with you to shop. Not that I would - Phoebe is a handful outside the house! Before I could even walk past the register, I was told they were closed. I politely asked if I could quickly grab a bag of cat food while the other customers finished shopping and checked out, but Chelsea abruptly responded, "We're closed." I wasn't aware the store closed at 7:00 p.m., and since I had arrived before 7:00 while the store was still open and serving other customers, I was surprised that I wasn't allowed to purchase my single item. I would've been understanding if it was 7:00 or later, but it was not. It takes 30 seconds to grab cat food.

Looking for snakes ? Try this place !…read more The shop attendants were all extremely helpful and spent several hours letting us hold different snakes until we found the right one, taking the time to explain the differences and care routines. We went in on a Sunday and I have to say I'm used to animals and pet stores having worked at Petsmart for a year. If you have asthma please be careful because the smell is a bit strong/guffy. I liked the variety of items from live plants, tanks, bio actives, feeders, supplies, etc. so that was awesome. I was less impressed with the chaotic nature of the shop. Lots of animals everywhere, not sure which were store sold versus part of the rescue and rehab portion of the store. (Love that they do rescue) Not sure if they just don't have a back room to keep supplies but a lot of store use items were on the sales floor so it just seemed a bit chaotic and disorganized unfortunately especially with a lot of empty used tanks randomly stacked in some areas. The other really big down side for me was their prices. A rescue crested gecko was about $190 I believe and there were others cresties that lechies, or larger lizards but they seemed high. The other high price was dubia roaches, which were .50c each at $10 only getting me a 20 count for mediums (1inch ish). I support small stores like this but was bit of a disappointment.

The process is typical for Camp Bow Wow of requiring new-camper interview prior to board/day camp. The interview process requires the pawrent to stay at the facility approx. 30 minutes while your pups' temperament/socialization skills are evaluated. If given the green light, pup is required to stay for a few hours of play. Staff is very helpful and caring towards the pups. They are also very efficient with the check-in/out processes. The facility seems clean and well -organized. There is an adjacent parking lot. Reservations and sharing records is now very easy via the Camp Bow Wow app, which also allows you to view your pups while they are in the playrooms and establish reservations with any of the camp Bow Wow locations. This location is quite a drive for me, but I have yet to find any other place who I trust to care for my precious pups when I have to be away for several days!

Absolute Failure of Care: Unauthorized Injury and Mismanaged Play…read moreI am writing this review as a serious warning to other dog owners. My experience with Camp Bow Wow Matthews was unacceptable, resulting in injury to my 10-month-old puppy and a complete failure of service on a follow-up visit. Incident 1: Unauthorized Procedure Resulting in Injury On his first visit, my 10-month-old puppy was subjected to an unauthorized nail trim that I did not request or approve. When I picked him up, his toenails had been cut down below the quick on multiple toes and were bleeding profusely. This indicates a severe lack of care and training, compounded by performing a painful procedure without owner consent. I complained to the staff immediately about the pain and distress this caused my puppy. Incident 2: Mismanagement of Play and Unapproved Confinement Despite the initial injury, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and brought him back. I picked him up to find he had been isolated and crated for the final three hours of the day. The staff claimed this was because he was "targeting a puppy." I reviewed the video footage they provided and confirmed that the behavior they labeled as "targeting" was clearly rough, energetic play--not aggression. For a professional daycare facility, misinterpreting normal puppy play and confining him for three hours instead of actively managing the group or separating him into a smaller, supervised area shows a complete lack of necessary skill and accountability. The combination of causing a preventable, unauthorized injury and then failing to provide the core service (socialization and supervised play) demonstrates a serious lack of professional care and judgment. I requested a full refund for both failed services. I strongly advise other pet owners to find a different facility that prioritizes the safety, accurate behavior assessment, and well-being of your dog.
