So now that he goes I guess I'm really confused how there is 5 stars for this driving academy. 1st on parents night the fella ripped on the parents the whole time. Not knowing us he pretty much told the kids not to listen to us parents when it comes to driving because it's been so long since we've been in drivers Ed..: then he turns and tells the kids respect your parents driving as they are the ones that have kept you in one piece . One dad was turning red in the face . Then the guy mentioned how there are a bunch of cameras in the cars and kids bad attitudes won't be accepted and they will have video... ok what about your driving instructors bad attitudes? Lord! The instructor my son had the first 2 days was new, unprepared, confusing, late and boring. I did ask for a new teacher as the reviews reflected that this school was different than others and a little more fun...a new teacher was assigned....thank you. As for the driving teachers you have a couple dudes there that are complete old jerks and make the kids feel on egg shells. I reported Dennis as my son was like OMG that guys the biggest jerk. One driver teacher boasted about making good money and working OT doing this, but he was an ass and gave a kid a panic attack. I made sure my son didn't have either of these men again. Kids are nervous enough and these guys just yelled. Why do they do this for a living is it just about money? So before you threaten the kids about being good in the car look at these teachers and how they are. I'm still puzzled on how this is a top driving school. Oh well. He's not going back .

The time spent behind-the-wheel as well as the closed course sessions were definitely very good with patient and good teachers and driving instructors. They taught her the rules of driving well. However, trying to schedule the Plus 10 hours portion of her contract has been tedious and quite unpleasant. The person who schedules these sessions at the Novi location has been offering times during the week when my sophomore is in school and it's difficult to find any availability immediately after school. At one point, I was even told to not call them and that they would contact me with availability as and when slots opened up. That's not what I would expect of a driving school that needs to have a better system in place for these private drives, especially when they're already paid for. Moreover, the majority of their clients are high schoolers who they clearly know can't book driving sessions during school hours. I truly hope they can modify their scheduling and get a system that's more conducive to helping high schoolers book their private lessons more easily.

I arrived on time and it was 20 mins later that we started. When she explained something, she won't let me ask her any question and she is just plain rude. There are so many things that I could point out that she is desperate for a second test to earn more money off me that it is not worth while. Her vehicle is old rusty junk, an indication that she is desperate for money. So she tries to be vague on the rules and only after you failed, she will rudely explain everything.

The instructor then proceeded--despite the instruction to accelerate--to tell me to slow down. The instructor herself is very misleading, and not in the moment. She was emotionally devoid to a point of social sequestration. Furthermore, she also was quite irresponsible. She doesn't care about the wellbeing of her customers, and even went on to disrespect both me and my mother by managing problems with her other customers during our paid time. Where more irresponsibility took manifestation on her behalf was when she was very obscure about where to meet. When asking questions--because inevitably every customer would have to--she would indirectly refuse to answer. Ultimately, the customer is left in a state of obscurity just as the instructor.

We used All-Star here in Traverse City for my niece, Amy's, driving lessons. She then took the test…read morewith All-Star and passed with flying colors! Amy's instructor, Erica, was a wonderful teacher. She put Amy, a nervous driver, who had twice failed the test in the past, at ease. Erica calmly and meticulously taught Amy how to drive safely and with confidence. We were both so impressed with Erica and I highly recommend her to families with nervous teens! I saw a night and day difference in Amy's driving and in her confidence level on the road. Erica is a gifted teacher! Amy then took her test with Mike who like Erica was low key and also able to put young drivers at ease. Mike obviously knew his stuff but had such a lovely personality that Amy was not nervous at all. I am unsure if Mike teaches but he seemed to be gifted with young people just like Erica. All-Star has clearly done their due diligence in hiring great staff. Plus when Amy passed with flying colors, Mike seemed almost as proud of her as I was! All-Star was a great help to me. I'm not sure that I would have been able to get Amy comfortable on the road myself because she was so nervous after her previous failures that I didn't feel it was safe to practice with her without help. All-Star was easy to deal with on the phone and provided excellent customer service. They made driving lessons safe, comfortable and easy for Amy giving her the needed information, practice and confidence. For the peace of mind and safety it was well worth the money for private lessons -- especially with such an excellent staff! We are so grateful to the staff at All-Star and recommend them highly!

My son was crushed and cried his way to school this morning because he found out that he was…read moredismissed from the 'School of Rock Farmington' by the new owner Chris, for nothing that my son did. Chris, without any notice or discussion with us, decided to dismiss my son from the school this morning, because I responded to a SoR customer survey that he didn't like. My concern and issue was mainly with the new ownership who I believe has changed the 'School of Rock Farmington' from a music loving family culture to a money focused operation that takes advantage of the love we have for our kids. Shortly after Chris took over the Farmington location, my first conversation with him consisted with him telling me how poorly the school used to be run by the prior management and how he was going to make everything bigger and better. Soon after the ownership change, Eric, the former GM, along with many other staff members that we loved, were gone. While I really didn't like the changes that I was seeing, I eventually decided to ignore it because my son was so in love with drumming. And most recently, I had an "interaction" with Chris over paying cover for two young kids that we had in our group from this past Sunday's mid-season concert. When I asked him why our 6 yr old daughter and her 6 yr old cousin needed to pay for cover (because little kids didn't need to pay before), Chris immediately got defensive and angrily told me that since he became the owner at Farmington everyone needed to pay no matter how young. Then he went onto tell me how expensive it was for him to run the shows and called me "petty" for even bringing this up. My son really loved the school and all of his teachers and friends he made so far at SoR Farmington. He really fell in love with drumming and really fell in love with music, which I credit the prior SoR management, and all former and current teachers and staff members for. My son and my family loved the program and would like to thank everyone at 'School of Rock Farmington' that looked after him. He's currently heart broken, but I'm hopeful that he will find a better school that looks out more for the kids than their own ego and bottom line. P.S. My brother-in-law emailed Chris this morning (without me knowing) because our whole family is heartbroken right now. Chris responded back saying that he will have my son back in his school as long as I changed my review score to an 8. I have no intentions of making any compromises and don't need to have my son back at his money/review hungry institution. I hope Chris well too and wish him luck as he tries to make a ton of money off the kids that just wants to love music.
