We used Alert Driving School for my daughter's drivers test. We knew families that had used this…read moretesting service and had good experiences with Keith and Andy as instructors. The person performing the test for my daughter was Dan (a Teenager which was a bit surprising) and was very unclear with his instructions to her.(and later to me.) The directions he gave to her and later myself in regard to how often you are allowed to readjust position during the parking portion were incredibly confusing and also misleading. He said several times that "the driver is allowed to pull forward as many times as they want, to readjust." And it wasn't until the third time he was explaining that I stopped and said you keep saying it's allowed, then why did she get points? He said "Oh you're allowed but you get points every time you do it." So he told her she was allowed to adjust as much as she wanted but did not make it clear she would be marked for each time. He also told her several times she could ask any questions she wanted and as many questions as she wanted but then said in response to her questions "The State doesn't allow me to answer that question."

The owner fired his teacher 1/2 way through class, then canceled all of the already scheduled drive times. (A location inconvenient to us and our family's schedule ) I notified him that we are unable to get to the second location and the times that he was offering for driving were ridiculous - 10:00 at night and even times during school hours! When I tried to communicate that with him, he was rude and unwilling to schedule times that would work for my family. After I requested a refund, because she would be unable to complete the class at the location and time we originally signed up for- He then began calling and harassing my 15-year-old daughter While SHE WAS IN SCHOOL , going behind my back trying to arrange times with her and complaining to her that I requested a refund!! This is the most unprofessional company I've ever dealt with! Spend the few extra dollars and go to one of their competitors.

Last week was the first time I went to an OCC campus apart from the Auburn Hills campus. It's…read moredefinitely resembles a university campus like MSU more so than the Auburn Hills location. Waterford Township is more rural and the campus is all under one area but spaced out greatly like a university. Lots of hills and open areas. I have class in High Oaks Hall but the whole campus is beautiful. Makes a more urban campus like Auburn Hills look really small and optimized given the density of the population and businesses nearby there. I haven't gone around much. High Oaks has a ton of labs even though not all the computers are standardized and such. The advantage of Auburn Hills is that the buildings are all connected on the inside so that's really convenient in the Winter especially. But if you want that university-like campus, Highland Lakes might be for you particularly if you live closer to that campus. I'll definitely take the coming weeks exploring it but it's a large campus near a bunch of lakes. Very scenic campus!

The time spent behind-the-wheel as well as the closed course sessions were definitely very good with patient and good teachers and driving instructors. They taught her the rules of driving well. However, trying to schedule the Plus 10 hours portion of her contract has been tedious and quite unpleasant. The person who schedules these sessions at the Novi location has been offering times during the week when my sophomore is in school and it's difficult to find any availability immediately after school. At one point, I was even told to not call them and that they would contact me with availability as and when slots opened up. That's not what I would expect of a driving school that needs to have a better system in place for these private drives, especially when they're already paid for. Moreover, the majority of their clients are high schoolers who they clearly know can't book driving sessions during school hours. I truly hope they can modify their scheduling and get a system that's more conducive to helping high schoolers book their private lessons more easily.

One dad was turning red in the face . Then the guy mentioned how there are a bunch of cameras in the cars and kids bad attitudes won't be accepted and they will have video... ok what about your driving instructors bad attitudes? Lord! The instructor my son had the first 2 days was new, unprepared, confusing, late and boring. I did ask for a new teacher as the reviews reflected that this school was different than others and a little more fun...a new teacher was assigned....thank you. As for the driving teachers you have a couple dudes there that are complete old jerks and make the kids feel on egg shells. I reported Dennis as my son was like OMG that guys the biggest jerk. One driver teacher boasted about making good money and working OT doing this, but he was an ass and gave a kid a panic attack. I made sure my son didn't have either of these men again. Kids are nervous enough and these guys just yelled. Why do they do this for a living is it just about money? So before you threaten the kids about being good in the car look at these teachers and how they are. I'm still puzzled on how this is a top driving school. Oh well. He's not going back .
