Rating: 4.4 Decided…read moreto visit on the past day before going back home. We intentionally planned so that this will be last so that we can take the day to relax and rest our body to go back home to our daily lives after busy day in NYC. We did some research and made sure to come on weekday earlier in the morning so that it's not too congested. We got there at 10:00am on Monday morning as which was perfect time. They have valet parking but it cost additional money so we just used their free parking lot which is located a block away from the main building on the same side. Once we got there we checked in and were guided through with instruction on what to expect and rules. Once you check in your bag gets checked. Be aware that you cannot bring any outside food or drink. You can bring empty water bottle/container which is highly recommended. After the bag check you take your shoes off and drop them off at the shoe locker which is guided by the staff. After that you enter the inner zone. It's recommended to start at floor 4 so that you can go to the main locker to drop off your other luggage and change into swimwear if not already. It's also recommended to take a quick shower before going into the pools and baths which you may want to do once you go to the bathroom. Once you are settled you can put your robe and go on your way to the amenities. We started our experience on the 4th floor at the outdoor bath. Started on foot bath with stones, silk bath, carbon bath, and hinoki bath which were nice and relaxing. We then went to Dry sauna and ganbanyoku which is hot stone sauna. Hot stone sauce had few different type of stone you can lay on so we decided to try all of them. Once we were done we went into the cold bath with waterfall to cool ourselves and went to try the bath with water jets/hydrotherapy. There were few different types that target your back, neck, foot, ...etc. we basically tried them all. They feel pretty nice and some are pretty strong almost like S massage. Once we were done with 4th floor we registered for volcanic sand bath which is an extra charge $20 experience per person. We scheduled a time and went up to 6th floor for our session. Once they are ready they go over some information and precautions and get you changed to yukata. They do recommend to go naked under for full experience and i do recommend it as well. Once you are ready the staff will take you to a spot and have you lay down and start to cover you in volcanic sand from Japan. Once you are covered you lay there and enjoy the experience. It's like you are laying in the sand at the beach that are hot and heavy. Its feels very nice and relaxing. They will leave you about 10 minutes and will give you some cold towel on your head which feels great. You will start to feel some sweat dripping from your body and your face. Once it's about 15minutes the staff will come and direct you to get up and give you some water to hydrate. They will make sure you feel ok before directing you to go to the shower to wash yourself up before changing back to your Swimsuit. It's a good idea to go full naked under because sand will get under everywhere and you can clean them off during the shower. Once you are cleaned up we took a quick break and had lunch at the food court which is directly next to the volcanic sand bath on 6th floor. We got bulgogi with rice and fries to share which was ok. Bit expensive but to be expected with facility of this kind. Once we were done eating we went down to 5th floor to enjoy the saunas. We tried pretty much all of the saunas including salt, charcoal, red brick, infrared, stone, and clay. We took a quick break in ice room and once we finished the sauna we took a quick break at the relaxation area and lay down for a bit. Once we were relaxed we went up to the 7th floor and enjoyed the infinity pool. You can see the skyline of NYC across the hudson river. Took some photos of the gorgeous view. We lay down for a bit to relax and went back down to finish the day with foot bath as we were cold coming out of the pool. We went back to the 4th floor to change and check out. Got our shoes and walked back to the parking lot yo head out. Overall i liked the experience that was offered at sojo spa club. I can see that our experience may have been different if it was on weekends and or if the weather was not good but we planned well and was also lucky with the weather so we were able to enjoy the facility to its full extent and i liked it. Service was good and a lot of the process was stream lined so that our time waiting was minimized. Would come back again.

There are a variety of different sauna rooms some smaller than the others, rest areas and an area to play chess and go. What I love about this place is the 400 degree sauna that really cooks you. We stayed here for about 5 hours and went to all their saunas, we ended up getting a little hungry and ordered a meal to share plus a large bingsoo which was really refreshing and cooling to your body. There are no hot tubs in the general area and only separated inside the women and male area Great spot to come here to spend the day to relax.

I love to spend an off day enjoying some healthy food and contrast bathing. KIng Spa was definitely a uniquely Korean experience. The overall vibe is a little old school and dusty, lots of 80s looking water features with piped in birdsong. The locker rooms need an update and the gendered pool area is quite small. I would imagine if you were a gender non-conforming person this kind of place would be highly stressful. There were dirty Q-tips just tossed in a box on the counter with wax on them, there were communal combs (gross), and a lot of the areas for lounging had very beat up looking furniture. There were several ladies really pushing hip baths, it had sort of a hectic, hustle-culture vibe upon entering that was not really relaxing. However the overall vibe is cozy and the saunas themselves were the real deal, especially the ultra hot one in the basement. The food was EXCELLENT especially compared to Sojo. Real deal Korean offerings, beverages and unique snacks like sauna eggs and plenty of ice cream. I would suggest to go early and eat lunch there, then spend the rest of the afternoon snoozing, baking in the sauna or getting a chair massage. They also have a salon their that offers perms and nail service, can't speak on that but fun that it's offered. There are plenty if chess tables and places to read and scroll if that is your spa style. My main big complaint: I booked a 30 minute scrub when I entered. I soaked before the scrub as instructed, when the scrub lady came to fetch me she was rude and dismissive from start to finish. I am not talking about the usual straightforward Korean spa attitude-she was downright nasty to me. She barked orders, yelled at me for having dyed hair that bled a little onto the wet towel pillow I had to use, she pinched my skin, rolled her eyes and sucked her teeth when I asked her to repeat herself. I understand there are some different cultural expectations but I have never been so poorly treated by a spa employee before. KIng Spa, you really have to do some customer service training!

The so-called professional, Pam, waxed and burned my armpit, leaving me in a terrible situation. I usually go to my trusted lady in NYC, but being in the Newark area visiting my siblings, I thought I'd give this Brazilian salon a try since I was desperate for a quick treatment. Little did I know, it would turn into a nightmare. From the beginning, I should have realized something was wrong when Pam didn't bother cleaning the area before applying the wax directly to my skin. It felt strange and too hot, but I didn't say anything, assuming she knew what she was doing. I paid, left, and thought that was it. The next day, my armpit started burning intensely, and I couldn't even put my arm down. It turned extremely red and painful. I thought it might be an allergic reaction, so I applied allergy cream and hoped it would get better. Instead, it got worse with each passing day. When I finally managed to get in touch with them and informed them about my horrible experience, they were apologetic and suggested I traveled to Newark and pick up from them another cream. However, being in NYC while they were in NJ made it challenging for me to visit them again. I sent them pictures of my injured armpit, and they assured me it wouldn't scar and offered to reimburse me if I chose to buy the cream myself around the area to use it. Despite applying the cream they suggested, there was no real improvement. I decided to seek help from someone I trusted, and they confirmed that my underarm was indeed burned due to the salon's lack of experience and complete disregard for proper procedures. Frustrated, I reached out to the salon, requesting at least a reimbursement for the waxing service, but they ignored my request. I persisted in contacting them, but they left me on read. Finally, the receptionist (not the owner) called to apologize and offer me my money back. This establishment's behavior is deplorable, showing a clear lack of respect for their customers. They view people as mere sources of income, not as individuals with feelings and concerns. I strongly advise staying away from this place. Even now, two weeks later, I am still dealing with the painful consequences of my burned underarm. It hurts, prevents me from working out due to sweating, and I can't wear sleeveless tops because it looks terrible. This has significantly impacted my enjoyment of the summer and the sun. Take this as a warning - avoid this salon at all costs. They are not worthy of your trust or your patronage.

The therapist didn't speak any English so with this language barrier, she did whatever she wanted and I just had to make the best of it. The massage tables were uncomfortable and the sheets and towels were old rough on my bare skin. The amount advertised for the 90 min or 120 min treatment is totally different from what you will be charged on your way out. I find it distasteful and rude to demand a tip greater than 18%. At one point I felt uneasy and disrespected after paying for the treatment in full and leaving a tip greater than 18%. I wasn't aware that it was mandatory to have to pay an additional amount on top of the fee and Tip that was already paid. I wasn't sure I was allowed to leave if I did not leave atleast 30% tip to satisfy the cashiers demand. Not sure if this is a regular practice, however I won't subject myself to this embarrassment and uneasy feeling of disrespect. 06-04-2026 - @approx. 1pm est I received a call from someone named Sophia, saying they are "the manager" . The first red flag was I was text thru an automated system from the business then I was called from someone calling from a Pakistan phone number +92 99 239080. Conversation started pleasant and immediately went left once I began to explain my issue with the service & treatment I received while patronizing this establishment. It almost seemed like a rehearsed script used for all complaints and issues. First I was told that "maybe there was a language barrier , that was misunderstood. 2nd she immediately informed me that she saw my review and began contesting "my experience at this spa". 3rd she then told me that she "reviewed camera footage" , and this is what didn't sit well with me. This wasn't a call to resolve or fix a situation with a customer, this was more confrontational. She also said I was free to leave at anytime due to the fact that I stated , I wasn't sure if I would be allowed to leave without increasing the tip. I wasn't sure also accused of leaving a false review of my experience and at that point I asked if it was possible to get an email contact for the owner. The last thing this "manager" said before I ended the call was "this is what I mean, I am trying to work with you" as if she was doing me a favor. No thank you. Have a pleasant day.
