I just got a tattoo from Larry at top hat tattoo place. Great guy very talented marc is a nice guy too great prices. but only Reason I give them a 2 star is because when you walk in to shop looks so cluttered has a pool table in there that is covered and so much stuff you can't even walk by.all nice stuff but way too much He needs to clear out front room and have couches that people can sit at or wait. And wanted my coffee told me I have to stop getting tattoo and squeeze by 2 motorcycles that are in hall to get to back room to drink your coffee on a snack tray with moldy coffee on if ... update the owner marc was mad I wrote the truth about his place and Larry agreed with me and Marc got mad.. so Larry left as the result of my review but was happy because he said he lost a lot of customers because of the clutter at top hat. I went to see Marc at Top Hat Tattoo to have my dogs paw and nose print, along with his nickname tattooed on my forearm. I received many recommendations so I had to check this place out. The shop was adorable. Very personal touches and art everywhere. Loved the old musical instruments. The place was clean. The area I sat was as well. The needles were opened in front of me. Everything was professional and done correctly. My tattoo came out perfect. Exact replica of the prints I received when my pup passed away. Marc paid attention to every detail and it shows. How do you fuck up a straight line? I don't know, but somehow ben did. He positioned the tattoo too close to another one and modified the work he was doing to avoid a collision. But it was unwarranted because if he kept w the original stencil (even w the fucked up placement) it would have been fine, in my opinion...and lots of hours staring at the crooked line in the mirror. And he had a piss poor attitude. Among other things he said and did that didn't sit right w me, he said, verbatim "well I gaurantee you [if I give you a tattoo] it will be the best one on your body." Dude? Where's the professional respect. One of the guys that work under him did good work, I forget his name but I was pleased. Marc, the owner, is a good man that takes pride in his work and his business. He travels all around the the U.S going to tattoo shows to perfect his craft even more. I started getting tattoos from Marc (the owner) 5 years ago when I lived on Long Island. First and maybe most important, he's an incredible artist. Secondly, he is a thoughtful artist. There have been moments I asked for a tattoo somewhere and he's advised moving it or changing the size. Last night a friend and I came in to get our cartilage piercing done. Not only did he not have any studs, he gave me a hoop used mainly for septum rings. He had me sit down and point with my finger where I wanted the piercing to go. Now, he did not mark it with ink and double check with me to see if I liked the placement or to know for his own self. He just stuck the needle in and put the hoop in after. Its now the next day and the ball was too small for the hoop that it popped off and I had no way of getting it back on because the hoop itself was bent the whole time. I had 2 family members trying at once to put it back on to the point of taking it out and putting an ACTUAL stud in from my own collection. As much as I love getting new piercings I truly wish I went to Notorious in Centereach. The past experiences I've had between my tattoos and other piercings are a night and day difference compared to this place. read more
