The vibe is friendly and welcoming by any stylist as soon as you walk in the door. I've seen two stylists there and they are artists in their profession and their customer services is fantastic. The owners are wonderful, I have nothing but great things to say about them! They are friendly and make you feel like family from the start. Prices are comparable to other salons, but the service is bar none. They carry a great selection of products that I have switched to completely. I've been getting my hair done by Ciara for over 8 years now. I enjoy the energy in Top Knot and have followed her to every salon she's worked at in Morgan Hill and Gilroy. Top Knot is a cute space and everyone who works there seems very friendly and genuinely happy to be there. It feels like a close knit family between the stylists. All the girls here are super sweet, but this review is for Jess specifically. She is amazing at what she does!! Hands down. She's phenomenal with color, but I've been shocked at how her cuts make me love my hair (super thin and can be a little stringy) which isn't always the case. She can take a picture and give you something even better... (I'm a Pinterest addict and she's a great sport about it). The salon is a little bungalow that the owner converted. When I first started going to her she was doing a color correction on my hair and trying to get me back to blonde and now for the last few months she's been doing a wine/mahogany color on my hair. I have waited almost my entire life to find the right stylist. Jess, hands down, is the best! I have typically worn my hair short and it's been really difficult to find a stylist that can do edgy cuts with shorter hair. She is also great at consulting and giving you some creative ideas to cuts and styles that will best frame your face. Also, hair coloring is something she also has tremendous expertise in. I was able to get an awesome balayage that provides some dimension and character. After all said and done, she has shown me all different ways I can style my hair, all were simple for me and allowed me to go outside my box of just going straight. I have never received so many compliments on my hair. I feel like a whole new person! I got my hair done by Ciara today, and it was an awesome experience! We did a cut and color - balayage highlights and very light ombre because I wanted to darken my brassy ombre from before and keep it natural looking. She made sure to ask exactly what I wanted beforehand and pulled out a few swatches of color to show me what she was going to do. After 2 hours, I left with trimmed and beautiful, rich looking dark hair, which is exactly what I asked for. My friends all loved it and I loved it! Ciara knows what she's doing and is just so nice to chat with. She told me it was going to look very rich, and that's exactly the word my friend used later to describe my hair :) Her prices are also just unbeatable compared to the Bay Area. So, I got a recommendation on NextDoor for a different salon. When I went to yelp to read their reviews, they were awful, a lot of two and three star reviews. That scared me off and I started looking at other salons in Morgan Hill. That's how I ended up at Top Knot Salon. The reviews here on yelp are stellar...I couldn't find a bad one. So, I ended up at Top Knot, completely blind and taking a chance. I made an appointment with Melissa. She did not disappoint! I brought in pictures of what I wanted and asked her what she thought. I also asked whether she thought I should go bangs or no bangs. She talked me through everything and explained why and why not based on my face shape. I came here about 7 months or so ago and jess had fixed my HORRIBLE balayage done by somebody else at a different salon and she did such a great job! Recently about a week or 2 ago Loren has chopped my hair, SO CUTE. After being over the blonde Balayage for a few months, I wanted to go back to my natural hair color (dark DARK brown) and it's taken me a very long time to grow it out to where I can just cut it all off, my hair was stringy, long, and brassy but Loren's cut made me feel so confident after! As a licensed hair stylist I used to color my own hair but I don't anymore. Why? Because Melissa Herman makes me not only look amazing but makes the entire appointment fun. One day I was looking on yelp because I wanted to pamper myself and not color my hair. I found her reviews here and have never looked back. I get my hair colored and she rocks Hothead hair extensions. I never heard about these types of extensions before and she assured me that my hair wouldn't be damaged. I've had the clamp in type, the braid in type and gave up having long beautiful hair but these....these ones look and feel the best. No damage, no weight on my head and they look 100% mine. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them!!! She is a master colorist, a master stylist and all around wonderful person. I can't say enough great things about her. She's the only one I trust with my hair. read more

Ciara at Top Knot salon is a goddess! Many months ago I came to her with a hot mess of a blonde balayage that was several shades of gold, very brassy, and not well applied. I was extremely apprehensive about trying to correct it, as I've heard horror stories about over-processing and didn't want my hair to completely fry off. However, Ciara didn't bat an eye. She assured me that she could fix it without damage, and went right to work. A couple of hours later, I left with my hair looking better than I could have ever imagined. I am now a regular client and am always getting compliments and, "who does your hair?" questions everywhere I go. :) I recommend Ciara to everyone, but especially if you're in the market for a stylist who is highly skilled in the technique of balayage. *Worse customer service ever*** I called then when in to schedule an appointment for a color and a hair cut, the lady ask no questions about what I'm getting to see if she could even do it. All she said was that Friday at 9am would work. I go in on Friday at 9, she gets there at 9:30 just to tell me she had me down for tomorrow, and that she can't dye my hair because she only had a hair cut scheduled. So she can't even take me on the day of my "appointment" I had canceled work just so I could go. I'm a full time student and I work, this week was my only week available for a while. I decided to try someone new after about 15 years and made an appt with Melissa after seeing her work on IG and a friend post about her. I have been going to her for about 2-3 years now almost every 5-6 weeks and have loved her since my first appt! She has not disappointed me once. I found Michelle (through a friend) while seeking someone to do my bridal hair and make-up. We talked on the phone and I felt so comfortable that I booked her.
