Friendly people. This place came recommended to me by my father in law. Friendly, dog lovers and they got me an appointment quickly. When I picked up my dog, I stated that I wish the ears were cut a bit shorter for next time. The woman (who did not even cut my dogs hair) offered to trim them with no hesitation or annoyance. I had high hopes for this place and we ended having a bad experience. Having an appt means nothing. Its silly to even call it an appt. Expect to leave your doggie there for the day. After calling to check on my pup, they continued to push out the pick up time, which added up to 6 hours. Once I picked him up, his cut looked horrible even though I explained what I wanted beforehand. Looked like they just buzzed him and called me. I thought it was an isolated experience so I held off writing a bad review but a friend of mine went there today and had the same issues. read more

My wife and got the sense that other generic pet-store groomers were too rough on the dog and we noticed the dog was fearful of going there. In comparison, now that we've been coming to this groomer regularly, the dog is excited to go and extremely happy when we pick her up. I took my 1 y/o mastiff there the other day for the first time. I felt like most people when dropping their 4 legged baby off anywhere for the first time: nervous, scared, hoping she would behave. When I went back to pick her up she looked great and better yet smelled great! They took care of her ridiculous undercoat and days later she is still looking and smelling good! Wow! One of best grooming salons ever! My husband and I have Standard Poodles and the doggies go in about every 5 weeks. Since we started going to Top Notch Pet Spa, both the dogs and I have been totally thrilled! Top Notch is the only grooming establishment that all the dogs have endorsed as well. We make the turn off Glenwood onto Country Trail and they know where we're going and put up the rousing chorus of delight which is only otherwise used for the turn onto our agility trainer's road! I seriously would have taken before and after pics if I'd known the results would be this good. Thanks Andrew! My dog is a huge Alaskan Malamute/ German Shepherd and for whatever reason his undercoat just would not come out this year, like it was stuck. He's 13 and arthritic, being that he's never been formally groomed before I was really concerned about how this would go down. I called several different places and decided on Top Notch after I spoke to a couple of different people who were all very patient and took the time to explain to me how a proper groom worked (I just assumed if I wanted him shaved it would be an hour with an electric razor sort of deal). Anyway, they talked me out of shaving him because they said he could sunburn and I'm so glad they did. I just wasn't convinced they would be able to remove that amount of fur! I know people talk about "how their dogs shed so much!" but you've never seen anything like this. I didn't get the opportunity to meet Andrew, who groomed my dog but I would have hugged him and I'll definitely ask for him next time. My dad picked up my dog from Top Notch and now wants to bring his dog (full Alaskan Malamute) back next week. read more

I can't believe some of the ignorance I'm seeing. From the review from Kristin H. They cared more for your animal than you did, obviously. If a professional felt I was SAFER to offer limited services or for her to be closely monitored during a groom by a vet, then they obviously cared more for the well being of your animal than you. That seriously speaks volumes about how much they do care for pets under their care. I don't work here or know any of the employees but I groomed for 10 years and couldn't stand seeing them get a bad review for honestly CARING more for someone's pet than the money they'd make off the groom. All the quotes were consistent in showing they were concerned for your animal and I'd be more thankful than anything for the concern than come on here and trash an establishment that did what was best for the pet in question. We're new to the area and have a rescue pup who can be difficult at times so we were nervous about finding a groomer we trusted. Paige (hope I'm spelling it right!!) was wonderful! She came out to meet Joey and communicate with me about his behaviors and how I'd like him groomed and he came out looking even better than I expected! Nails were clipped nicely and his haircuts looked great. I can't say enough nice things about her and her work!! Would've given 5 stars but the woman at the front desk was awful. Since it was my first time I was unsure of what to expect and she didn't even explain anything aside from handing me a paper and rolling her eyes if I asked a question. When I handed my paperwork in she simply stared at me and said "anything else?" And I had to ask what the protocol was for knowing when To come get Joey. I was unhappy leaving initially but once I saw how he came out and how great Paige was, she absolutely made up for my initial encounter. read more

Terrible terrible terrible. My dogs and I are still traumatized from our experience. First of all, I called twice before going to confirm they could handle big dogs and that we didn't need an appointment for nail grinds. I could just walk in at 7:30am. Everyone was SOOO rude to us, no one greeted us, I was literally backed in a corner waiting because no one was helping us... then the nail grinds hands down the worst I've ever paid for. She was mean to both dogs my youngest dog is crying and she could have cared less. I told her before she started he has a sensitive toe due to surgery. She left hangers on almost every nail, and barely even trimmed them down. It's only been a week, and I have to have them done AGAIN! Then she was fussing at me to fill out the form I asked three times if I could just pay and leave because I wouldn't be coming back she said I still had to fill out the paperwork.... I was still in the corner holding my dog as they kept helping others, no one offering to help us or make our experience better. She took them back again to re do their nails after I said that, and they weren't any better. I get it you're a small busy place used to handling small dogs, but how you treat people makes all the difference........ read more

The staff is truly dog friendly, and understands that our furry babies are stressed out while under their care. They gave me a full report on how my dog's day had been, explaining her behavior and reactions and followed with a suggestion to minimize her discomfort for the next session. My shih-tzu came home clean, with all important spots trimmed and combed out perfectly - even her signature top knot was just right. I loved the pens they use to hold the dogs between stations. After having a really bad experience with a pet store that traumatized my poor fur baby with injuries, I decided to give Top Notch a try. Chantal was soooo super sweet with my Primo even though he gave her a hard time. She explained everything that happened and how she was able to woo him and gain his trust. I take my 15 year old Cocker Spaniel and 2.5 year old Cockapoo. The 15 year old sometimes needs a break and has lots of little moles, fatty tumors etc... They take very good care of her and that has not been the case everywhere else I've taken her. The 2.5 year old took a few times to get used to being groomed and needed a little extra patience from our groomer, but now she does a pretty good job. I appreciate the fact that they were consistent with her! Also - re: walkins - they do take walkins for face and nail trims and I believe that's what the sign was referring to. The sign is now gone and I understand why. They are far too busy to be able to do full service walk in grooming. Will continue to bring my babies her for grooming! read more

By far THE BEST groomers in the area! The first groomer that actually knew how to groom our Shih-Poo the right way! Wonderful talent! Our Benny was so soft and still smells fresh after 3 weeks! The dogs are in individual open pens, and not caged. The prices are pretty much the same as other area groomers. read more

I've had bad experiences with groomers in the past so my dog hasn't been groomed as often as she should be. The people at Top Notch were great. Took the time to explain what they'd do and why. While my dog was there for a long time and it required a lot of work, she looks great and wasn't traumatized as she has been in the past. Would recommend them to anyone. read more

Fantastic! Yesterday was the first time I have taken my dog to top notch pet spa and I will be taking her back many more times in the future. This pet spa is so cute! I know my dog is being well taken care of here. The pet areas are large and more spacious than any I've seen before. The staff was friendly and listened to how I wanted her cut even showed me pictures to make sure they understood. When I saw her after, she was groomed exactly how I described. Words don't do justice for the work the ladies over at Top Notch Pet Spa did for my 2nd in command (Dog) lol. I had been searching for at least a month for a groomer who i felt comfortable enough to live my Big ol' German Shepherd. After weeks of strenuous research i landed myself at Top Notch Pet Spa and i must say they were great! I dropped my dog off in the morning he was ready in hours, much faster then expected which was great. When i picked my dog up the ladies were more then friendly i felt as if i had been coming here for years lol. Not to mention how pleased i was when i finally laid eyes on my 4-legged friend he looked like a whole new dog and he smelled amazing. I brought my yellow lab, Jake, here for a bath and nail trim. He hates baths, and tends to be a little skiddish in new situations, so I expected him to be in the corner hiding when I got there. A bath is a bath, right? Wrong. He was happy, wearing a cute little bandanna (they give them out with every wash, or a bow for the girls) and wagging his tail when I got there. And HE LOOKED GREAT! I recently found this spa because of the groomer Kristina. She had groomed my Keeshond many times when she was with another business several years ago and always loved the job that she did. But due to the travel time to get to her last business...I quit taking Charm there. After bouncing around from groomer to groomer I decided to try and track Kristina down. We moved to North Carolina a little over two months ago. We were concerned about finding a new groomer for our dog, Shortstop, as he's...well, let's say difficult. He's 10 1/2, blind, and does not like hair cuts. He's always had only okay cuts. It's been too short, clumpy, had stray hairs lingering about, etc. I saw that Top Notch had great reviews and when you're new in town that's all you really have to go on to make a decision. They had an opening the day after I called. I took him in, we talked about what kind of cut he needed, I filled out a little paperwork, and off he went. The lady that checked us in and out was as sweet as can be. We always get nervous when a groomer calls to say Shortstop is done because he's not always a stellar customer. I picked him up and was so pleasantly surprised by his cut (just a smidge too long but not a big deal). The cut they did was in the top three he's had in all of his 10 years. If they can be kind and patient and give a good cut to OUR dog, anyone will be happy taking their dog here. We'll definitely be back! read more
