Top Out Cafe in North Mass Boulder is truly one of a kind! Nowhere else can you sip a latte, munch on avocado toast or a smoothie bowl and watch people having a great time bouldering! The vibes are chill and the coffee is hot. What else can you ask for? It's good to know ahead of time that you need to fill out a waiver even if you are just visiting the cafe because the cafe is located inside the gym. I filled mine out online and when I got to the front desk they looked up my name and I was good to go. Easy! The variety of seating is astounding and the Wi-Fi is good, making this the perfect place to get some work done or hang out with friends! The parking lot was almost full on a Sunday afternoon but we managed to snag a spot no problem. I also want to say major props to NMB for the no tipping policy and gender inclusive restrooms! A business that cares about the community is one I will always support. I highly recommend the gourmet grilled cheese (spicy!), the banana nut butter smoothie bowl, and a honey cinnamon latte. I had the bagel with smoked salmon. It was delicious! It came with a little salad on top as well. Everything was fresh and flavorful.

What a wonderful surprise introduction to a local business by Yelp, absolutely made our weekend (plus one with a guest and a pup!) First off, I didn't figure the location just cause I didn't see the cafe right off the bat when we drove in. Front desk was happy and courteous enough to explain the details. My take - cool location, where you can work, study, chill, workout, climb, do yoga, play basketball or simply put enjoy watching shows on the projector screen. I tried the no-caffeine hot chocolate and the maple cinnamon latte. Asked for extra hot, I could have taken hotter but flavors were nutty, not so sweet, slight kick of cinnamon, hint of maple with delicious oat milk. We also tried Impossible Burger and Vegan cheeseburger soup. We didn't want meat and we were WOWd with the options. Delicious, meaty, crunchy and so delicious! Most of all, they allow PETS! This place is great to go after bouldering since it's located inside north mass boulder. It's also a great place to do work as well since there are tables and outlets everywhere. I took a picture of the wings since they're amazing and so flavorful! It's also nice how they bring the food to your table! I wasn't too into the overnight oats since it wasn't as fresh. They did offer to make a fresh one but I didn't want to let food go to waste. Still, I should have taken their offer on getting a more fresh bowl lol. Decided to venture out and try a new coffee shop and regrettably tried the iced blueberry mint latte(which was about $7) and it was absolutely putrid. When I asked the lady at the counter about it she never offered to adjust anything or even change the drink. After I asked her if I could try something else she said yes but began to ring me up and said I do have to charge you for it....i said even though it's disgusting and I've only taken a small sip she said yes. My advice is if you enjoy trying new places and new drinks this is not the place to go because satisfaction is absolutely not guaranteed. Great place to grab a snack post workout/ climb, located on the second floor of Northmass climbing gym! The guy at the counter recommended Green Machine smoothie + honey, it tastes healthy and fresh. A little bit pricey, but worth it for the vibes here. There's a variety of people here, from large lively group hang outs, while also some tables with individuals studying. The long tables allow for you to sit in a social environment and meet new friends. Everyone is so friendly. Also located next to the yoga and conference room. read more

Top Out Café is an awesome place to grab a beer after a hard day's climb. The constantly rotating taps always have me discovering new local brews. The atmosphere is awesome, and they host some great events. I love hanging out there. Unfortunately, they seem to be slowly self-sabotaging with their food menu. They started out great - prices somewhat high, but totally understandable for a small, convenient café. They then decided to raise their prices fairly significantly, to the point where grabbing a bite after a climb was a financial decision to be made. Again, somewhat understandable given the state of things. But now I'm seeing chip portions so small you can count them on two hands, and sandwich content dwindling. It's become a joke among friends on how many chips will show up each time someone orders. Don't get me wrong - the staff is awesome, and I'm so happy to have them on-site and will continue to drink copiously during each visit. I just so wish the food situation (as delicious as it is!) would improve. read more

Absolutely love Top Out! I usually go to study and stay for a few hours. Their coffee is really good and they have unlimited drip, and the food also never disappoints (I've gotten avacado egg toast and chicken pesto panini--both delicious). Service is great and everyone who works there is so nice. I love the ambience of the place, there is a lot of seating and lighting and I feel like just the perfect amount of background/white noise to help focus. It does get pretty loud around 4 when the gym gets busier, but that's expected! All in all, wonderful place and I will be coming back often! read more

Top out café is a super unique café with a really appealing menu! It's on the top floor of North Mass Boulder gym. The area is really nice and quiet despite being in a gym and there's a large variety of seating types from couches to bars to long computer tables. The menu is very large for a cafe and has a really nice variety of food that feels appropriately fresh and nutritious for a gym cafe. We tried the gourmet grilled cheese and the banana nut smoothie bowl. I feel like a lot places have a "gourmet grilled cheese" and it's just a grilled cheese with like 3 types of cheese but this one actually felt worthy of the title. The capicola and soppressata meats with the arugula and zippy Sriracha aioli elevated this past a standard sandwich. The smoothie bowl was also delicious. The fruit tasted fresh and the portion was very generous. Both our lattes were great! I decided to just stick with a plain oat milk flat white and I thought the flavor of their espresso was fantastic. Sitting at the balcony it was also entertaining to watch people boulder down below. The hipster rock climber fashion show was a definite plus as well! Be aware you have to sign a waiver in order to enter but as long as you do that ahead of time it's really not an inconvenience as you just give your name to the front desk and you're good to go. What a brilliant business plan. This cafe truly makes the North Mass Boulder a community that you don't have to leave. You can climb, do yoga, workout, cowork/have a meeting, take one of their other classes then hit up the Top Out Cafe and replenish. The cafe offers juices, brews, booches, coffees, teas, sandwiches, salads, breakfast bites, and so many more things. It's always nice to have this as an option in case you're in need of a beverage/bite to eat in between activities at the campus. I've had their turmeric juice, which was tasty. It seems that they add some water or another filler as the juices aren't as strong/potent as they can be. I've also tried their ginger/turmeric tea, which was delightful. And, then I also tried their fall-themed iced latte with oat milk. Not my favorite, but it was still tasty. One word of caution: unless you're just getting a pre-made kombucha or beer, it takes some time. The environment is casual (which I love), which results in items (drinks and food) taking a bit of time. I love the seating! It's a big space for plenty of people to come hang out after a climb or like my husband to have a fun workspace for the day. Sometimes I feel I get so comfortable I need to go home or I'll fall asleep. The food is great! I've had the chicken pesto many time and it's always delicious. Today I tried the Buddha Salad. As I'm going through a lot of health issues gluten free has been my best match. Overall everything in it seemed as if it would be pretty balanced, but I thought it was extra sweet. There were chickpeas, beets, Brussels, sweet potato, quinoa and a few extras. To add a little spice or balance I used spicy brown mustard from the condiment bar. You can park in the North Mass Boulder parking lot and take a walk up there! Membership is not required! You do, however, need to sign a waiver even when going to the cafe.
