Honestly, I don't know how I could have pulled off the event without her. There was nothing event related that she could not help with herself. Other Event Planners that I spoke to were merely prepared to coordinate (help me find a florist, a baloon person, decorator, etc) and were not really hands on or able to provide any real value themselves. To provide some color, my wedding was scheduled for October 5th, 2019 and I started searching for a day of coordinator around middle of August 2019. I did not have the luxury of time and I really appreciated Yosira's quick response. I reached out to her using her website. I received a response from her within 24 hours and she scheduled a call to discuss within a few days. After our call, I received an invoice. So, between the day I reached out and getting an invoice was probably 5 - 7 days max. It was very efficient process, which I really appreciated. Working with Yosira was a breeze! She was amazing to work with. She was very thorough, understood my vision and executed on my vision impeccably. She has a great eye for detail. She asked really great questions and thought about things I didn't even remember / consider. She helped me with finding food and drink vendors. The wedding was perfectly time managed. All my vendors knew where to be and what time to show up. She had a very structured timeline that she shared with me and communicated to the vendors. For the service and execution she rendered, I'd have happily paid 25% more than the quote because it was such an excellent service. Over several meetings she made comments about other people's weddings songs, and how she didn't want to do our wedding but was glad that our wedding included her "favorite songs." She continually alluded to this other wedding of whom we loosely knew who the other people were. It was very annoying. She continually sent us tasks to do that were due by the end of the day with both my bride and me having full time jobs. We were also told by another couple that they "accidentally" received our wedding day itinerary from Valerie. Which was extremely unprofessional. Finally on the day of, her crew were late, and the DJ played songs out of order. I will say that the final product was outstanding and our wedding was fantastic. Tommy, the owner, was great, but Valerie made the experience less than desirable and extremely stressful for a day that is supposed to be exciting. Why it's a 3 star review.

I am simply elated to be the first to review this company on Yelp!…read more Shelby Tuck-Horton is the owner of this company. She and her assistant SAVED OUR WEDDING DAY from catastrophe. We'd had an absolutely horrendous 10-month ordeal with our original wedding planner (see review for Jeannelle Muhammad Designs/LifeTime Events, Inc.), which culminated in termination with that company with just 6 weeks until our wedding. Luckily for us, Shelby happened to have our wedding date unbooked. My husband and I live in California and were super busy during this time, as are most couples planning a wedding. We also had the additional stress of having experienced exceptionally poor service from the previous wedding planner. What Shelby and her assistant were able to accomplish with just 6 weeks, our original planner was unable to achieve in the 10 months we were under contract with her. We secured the services of Exquisite Expressions & Events, Inc. on August 11, and we were married September 20. Not very much time--but she was able to pull off the most classy, elegant, and tasteful wedding for us! We still receive compliments about our wedding and by far, the most common adjective used to describe it is "classy." If there were any problems on that day, we were not aware. She thought of every detail, handled everything tactfully, and was even able to help me with my dress malfunction! Our entire wedding day ran flawlessly and seamlessly like clockwork, and everything began and ended precisely on time. Shelby was able to understand our vision, helped shape it without compromising it (given the time constraints), and exuded and demonstrated an overall sense of competence. She was extremely timely in her responsiveness and truly efficient with our time. The flowers and decor were fantastic--from the table cloths, to the chivari chairs, to the napkins, to the uplighting-- everything was quality. Shelby used quality vendors from her arsenal, who were exceptional in their own right. She has real connections and is very well-known throughout the D.C. metropolitan area. The prices that she got us for flowers, linens, and decor were absolutely amazing, a true testament to who she knows in the industry and how much they value her business. She has been in the event planning business for many years and has formed genuine relationships with TOP vendors in the area. I don't know exactly how she was able to get some of the deals she got us, but she did, and all with an extremely short window of time to pull it off. A weight was truly lifted off of our shoulders once Shelby came into the picture. We wish we had used her at the outset. Look nowhere else!

I first was introduced to Monica's services when I attended one of the William Oliver Baker Award Baker banquet at the Ronald Reagan building. I was impressed with the beauty of the decor and the organization of how the event flowed. The event had an a cocktail hour which included an open bar, a four course dinner, which included both a steak and lobster entree, and each attendant was gifted with a bottle of champagne. It was one of the best black tie affairs I had attended in years. Based on my experience, I requested to know who coordinated the event and that is how I was introduced to Monica. I had no black tie affairs that I needed to plan, but I was responsible for planning annual international conferences for my Life Coaching Firm "Circle of Trust". When I found out some of Monica's services included travel management it was like my prayers were answered. Since 2010, Monica has planned our conferences which have included two cruises (Western Caribbean and the Mediterranean), South Africa, Costa Rica and two domestic locations (Virginia Beach and New Orleans). Each conference has been an amazing experience that has been filled with team building activities (i.e., dance competition on one of the cruises), sessions that were well attended and went off without minimal issues. Monica kept me abreast through out the whole planning process which included detailed itineraries. When I arrived there was very little for me to do so much so I often felt like it was more of a vacation versus a conference. She is very proficient at dealing with local staff (for international locations) and understanding their customs to share with myself and my attendees. Here is an example of some of the activities Monica organized for each conference: 1. Western Caribbean Cruise: Swimming in a Volcano 2. Virginia Beach: A crab feast 3. Mediterranean Cruise: Activities were endless, but day tour to Tuscany, private tour in Rhodes Italy, dinner overlooking the Colosseum at now one of my favorite restaurants called Aroma and other excursions throughout Italy and Greece. 4. Costa Rica: Waterfalls adventure and white water rafting and she also arranged our accommodations in a villa ;-) 5. South African: A safari get away 6. New Orleans: Plantation and swamp tours These annual conferences have gone from non-existent and to me in a panic to being the event of the year. The participation has increased each year and is the thing to look forward to. UME and Monica are just superior in the services they provide. Each conference has sincerely been unforgettable.
