Pool was nice parking wasn't so great with the restaurant being attacked to the motel if you left the hotel and tried to find parking when you came back all parking spaces were taken due to restaurant people parking on the grass and on sidewalks. Do yourself a favor, book elsewhere! Most importantly, this motel did not have ANY locks on the room! We booked bike week so had no other option to go to at this point. The slider door had no mechanism, just a string to open and close. The front door, (we did not even know until the 2nd night) did not lock at all. My husband uses cpap machine, but this room did not have any electricity (sockets did not work) on the beds side at all. It had no telephone and it had no lamps. It did not have any blankets. It had many tiles missing from the floor and a corroded sink faucet. It had falling down bathroom fan. I have pictures that show all we have said here. For $598.86 for 2 nights, we deserved wayyy better than we got! I've seen some reviews that seem so very high, I think those are being padded. read more

To start with, the room was very small with no room for bedside tables. The TV did not work and was replaced. Very few channels were available. The AC worked well but was very noisy. The floors were absolutely filthy. We had to use a washcloth to clean our feet before getting into the bed. There was no toilet paper holder in the bathroom. Long term residents were having a get together outside our room, but, luckily, the noise finally died down. The pool was uncomfortably warm, but the surface is rough and uncomfortable on the feet. For what we paid for this room, we could have done much better. Oh, well. Hindsight is 20/20. Do yourself a big favor and don't book here. read more

I recently stayed at Topaz motel. It was horrible! I got bedbugs. This motel needs to be shut down. I reported Topaz to the Flagler County Board of Health (they have received numerous complaints regarding Topaz) and the Florida Better Business Bureau. A little outdated, sure. But for $144 bucks for a Friday and Sat night literally across the street from a beach, I can't complain. AND it was only $20 more for our Frenchie. The main building is an old mansion and it's beautiful. There are rooms inside of the mansion, but they're not dog friendly(so I wasn't able to experience it!). The pool was not bad either, but I'm more of an ocean girl. Great little stay, we could even hear the waves crashing from our room. The room itself was clean, impressive for a beach motel since people track sand in. Not too much privacy on the patio, you can see the people next to you. Not a biggie for me, but for people that are looking for privacy, you may be a little annoyed. The guy next to us kept talking to our dog! read more

The Topaz motel is a wonderful place to spend a few nights or even a week. The value for the price is right on target. The staff is nice. They will go above and beyond for you. Watch out for the island grill however. As much as you may like to eat there those people or some of the rudest people I've ever experienced in my life don't waste your money there there are plenty of restaurants right up the road from the Topaz motel that are much better and the staff are much more professional. For a family budget vacation with a pool and beachfront you cannot go wrong with the Topaz Motel! When I first got to the hotel, it was dark (with no light outside my room where I had to park so that felt sketchy and just not safe. I'm a 65 year old woman and it is nerve racking having to maneuver steps in the dark), and though I was not really impressed with the room, it seemed OK. Upon closer inspection I noticed all the things that should have been cleaned or repaired, and there were quite a few. There was a stain on the wall that looked like somebody had thrown a Coke towards the trash but missed. It just needed to be cleaned off the wall, but apparently the cleaning person missed that completely. I don't know how. Lots of grimy looking stuff around the baseboards in the bathroom and lots of chipped paint and a generally run down appearance. It just looks like nobody really cares to do more than the basic cleaning jobs around here. Even that is being generous, there are cosmetic problems that could easily be taken care of but they just don't care I guess. No good lighting, no bedside lamps, just really harsh lighting over each bed. One light on the wall over the tv didn't work at all. It's a shame because this could be a really cute little room, and it does have a view of the ocean across the street. But it had a real neglected feel to it. Outside the door to the private walkway there was lots of trash and cigarette butts. I mean, come on! How hard is it to just sweep up once in a while?? When I went to use the microwave, the inside looked really dirty, but I guess it's just a very old rusty microwave. I am not one to be too bothered by cosmetics, but I am really creeped out by things being that unsanitary. Also, the woman that checked me in barely said a word to me, told me nothing about the restaurant(which was closed), and had nothing to say about the hotel or the town. What a let down. Now I know why the price was unexpectedly lower than the other hotels. You know... you get what you pay for. Sigh. This was possible the worst hotel I have ever been to. When I arrived I was sent to a room with a duck taped door and window. After that madness I was sent to a new room that was as clean as a jail cell. I was in the room for maybe 5 seconds before deciding to leave. As I tried to get a refund I was denied and charged a 75$ cancellation fee. As I replied to the rude lady on the phone she kept saying that I wouldn't be able to get a refund no matter what. And the worst part is she started THREATENING me to charge me for the night even though I was leaving and getting a cancellation fee. What this place did was criminal and should be fined for there actions. If you ever see this place run and hide. read more

I had a wonderful weekend, May 7,2021 to the 9th, Mother's Day. I went with my 75 year old disabled husband and 35 year old handicapped daughter with her service dog. I had requested a first floor, but I guess I wasn't clear enough about the importance. Got there and we had a 2nd floor which wasn't possible. I talked to Coifi, in reception, and what a nice, kind and accomodating lady. She got me a 1st floor room to the left of the one I got for the next day at 11am. The room was a big upgrade, newly remodeled, full kitchen, very clean and cozy. I thought it was going to cost me double, but she refused to charge me anything. Booked for Friday and Saturday night in December, to do a quick trip for the weekend, as we were doing a yard sale for my in-laws. Their house was empty, so I thought it to be more comfortable at a little motel, and a fun little staycation on the side. I wanted something on or close to the beach, and since it was booked last minute (the day before) my options were limited, at least on booking.com. (I found out later driving by other motels, that I had better, cuter options). I will keep this in mind in the future. I called ahead the night before and let the office attendant know that I would be arriving separately from my partner, and to please let him in the room if he arrived before me, in which he did. They let him up, but immediately called me to ask where I was, and if I could hurry to arrive so they could swipe my credit card. I understood from a business stand point, but from a tired disabled customer driving 4 hours to get there at 8pm, I thought this was a little rude as I insured them on the first phone call I had no problem leaving my card info over the phone. It must have been a different person to call me asking for my arrival time who didn't have the message related. This left me with a sense of urgency as well as mistrust and it wasn't a great way to start the weekend. Upon arrival I drove straight to the office to give my card. The attendant spoke poor English, which made it difficult to understand. I did not receive directions to my room or any other info, had to ask for a receipt as well. The room was lack luster. Clean, but not clean at the same time. Appliances and fixings were very outdated. I have a lung disease and several other comorbidities. I asked if the rooms were safe and clean before booking, which I was told yes. I stuck it out as it was only for 2 nights, but wasn't very comfortable. Had to call for extra pillows, as our king bed only came with 2. The lock on the door was busted, and rusted. I had medication in the refrigerator, so I called that morning and requested no cleaning service or staff to enter my room for the day. Upon leaving, I drove by and saw my door wide open, with 2 women inside in which I assume were there to clean. I had the do not disturb on my door, but prior to leaving, a woman knocked on my door at 8am to clean. I was already up at 6:30am due to noisy neighbors outside talking loudly. I said "no thank you, I do not need service at all today.". That's 2 times to 2 separate people I asked for no one to enter my room, this was to keep my personal medication and belongings safe and peace of mind. I called upon driving by to which I was told they would leave. On Saturday afternoon I arrived back at the motel to sit outside and enjoy a book after working the yard sale. I noticed that the neighbor (who woke us up at 6:30am) was outside with his door kicked open. He was walking in and out to smoke cigarettes watching a football game. There were other guests inside, then 2 visited him outside his door for a few minutes to which I overheard him say that he was infected with COVID and was there to quarantine. He had his door open, with other guests inside? No masks. Standing less than 4 feet away from me. I quickly ran inside and was upset, due to being high risk, and coming here with the hope of being safe and able to relax. I called the office staff and told them about the neighbors. I was disheartened and felt unsafe. Nothing was done. We left as soon as the sun rose the next morning. It was an awful experience all around, and I don't recommend this place. Due to my requests not being respected, and allowing guests infected with covid to roam mask free around the property putting others at risk. read more

My husband & I love this place. It's old, but it's clean. Anyone unfamiliar with the ravages of salt, sand, and sun on buildings and vehicles won't understand why this (and most businesses in Flagler Beach) are "old & crusty". The interior of the motel room we stayed in recently has been renovated. The bath and shower stall was new, as were the tile floors. The linens were all clean and fresh, the a/c worked, and the doors all locked safely. When my husband and I pop over for a weekend, we always choose Topaz before anywhere else. We usually stay on the second floor of the motel because we can see the ocean directly across A1A, but they do have rooms IN the old mansion & also an efficiency suite (we've stayed in both). In fact, in November 2005 we were married in the diningroom of Blue, the restaurant located in the mansion! In fact, my entire wedding party and all the guests stayed at the Topaz for the weekend. Like I said, it's not a brand new hotel, it's not a chain hotel, it's a *quaint* old, clean motel that does the trick and doesn't cost a small fortune! read more

They price gouged us over the weekend at $269 per night for what appeared to be a closet in grandmas house. The room was 304; it had bedside lights attached to the wall falling apart and not working, no towel bar or toilet paper holder in the bathroom just broken pieces they chose not to remove; the bed was in no way a queen as advertised. The outlets in the room wouldn't even hold anything I tried to plug in, it literally fell out. The only outlet that worked was in the bathroom. The entire place needs major renovations and probably should be closed until everything meets code. read more

All I can say good is the ocean is right there. The entry door to our room can easily be broken into. And since it is to the back and off the road no one would see it happen. AC was not working correctly. Not taking moisture out of the room so everything felt damp. The front sliding door has no screen. So can't leave door open. The room was clean I will give them that. Can't sit outside on the porch at night because of the landing field lights at each room. The curtains are not light filtering so room was lit up all night They say paint will fix a room. I would not recommend this motel. Although the room was quiet it is run down. We had to pay up front before we received the key. There was suppose to be someone on the premises 24 hrs but when I tried to call the desk about mold under the shower mat no one answered the phone ( at 7:00 am). The ice machine did not work and the front desk said it was because tourists came from the beach to get ice. Therefore they charge everyone for ice!! I was told the hotel changed hands recently. We stayed in the older part that was the house. The idea behind it is great but a great deal of money needs to be put into this place. The outer buildings are in disrepair and need a great deal of work. Many undesirable people stayed here that distracted from the stay. The lights at night in the parking lot kept me up as there were no curtains and only cheap blinds. Carpet was dirty bathroom had been upgraded but could have been better and water pressure was weak. Someone that appreciates history should buy this place and restore it to a truly historical gem. The South Asian people that own it were nice but they cut corners for profit. read more

There was no WiFi even though we were told there was. There was road construction out front and we were not told we would have to use another entrance in the back. Severe lack of communication. We arrived on a Friday around 1pm and was able to check in early to start our weekend at the beach. The beach entrances are about a block in either direction which is good exercise I guess. We did get a king bed which was very very firm! The sofa/bed which we didn't know was a sofa bed until the day we were leaving had a missing leg so it was unusable anyway for anything but storage. The AC unit only took the edge off the air it was bringing in even at night it labored terribly. The tub did not drain properly there were ants in the bathroom. There was a sulphur smell especially at night which my husband attributed to the slow draining plumbing. We couldn't close the bathroom door for the built up paint on the door jam trying to make the room look fresh and new. The fridge provided worked well! We did have a decent view out our window. facing the ocean. Thankfully the motel has a pool and was up and running the entire time but the facia on the building that we had to look at while in the pool was either rotted and/or falling off. The parking situation needs to be looked into. Our room was in the left wing of the motel. The first night we were able to park in front of our room but the next night we had to park down in front of someone else's room which made it difficult on that guest as well. They have parking enough for one car per room and should be enforced by maybe having dedicated marked parking spots. The island grille which is part of this property was good food and service but a bit pricey! I hate to be fussy but I figure if I let everyone know our experience then the next person will hopefully not have as many issues as we did. read more

Sadly I've had a very bad experience. I reserved 2 nights through Booking.com. The night of our first night we discovered we had to go home due to a family emergency. First thing the next morning I spoke to the management and asked to cancel my second night. I was told to do it through the website. I was assured by this manager that I would not be charged for the second night. We checked out prior to the check out time. Spoke to another manager at the location and was told they hadn't even charged me for the second night so I would not be charged. Since then. I was charged. And I cannot get Topaz Hotel or Booking.com to cooperate or even address my issue. I stayed there on 6/19 and wanted a refund for 6/20. You can't believe what they say. I was absolutely lied to. I guarantee they filled that room the next night as the area was packed and Topaz was full on the 19th. So they got me. But they won't get my business again. This is an old old motel and might be the oldest building in Flagler Beach so naturally it looks and feels old and quaint but in a nice way. Very historical location right on the beach with an awesome collection of model railroads in the dining room. All rooms face the beach which is just a stone's throw away. I booked this hotel for my in-laws stay. Rooms are dated but really big and the one they got was acceptably clean. But they unanimously agree that the best part of their stay was the top notch old school hospitality provided by the manager Manish Patel and his entire family. Hurricane Irma struck right during their stay and Mr. Patel not only looked out for them and their safety in every way possible but also invited them over to his house for breakfast and lunch, meet with his parents and family and even offered to bring them tea at 6:30am despite such bad weather. Very impressed by him and the care he took of my in-laws. Highly recommended for those looking for a quaint charming place to stay right on the beach, hosted by some real nice folks! ***To the folks who are rating it 1 or 2 stars: If you need an impersonal box to live in, go to the nearest Hilton or Marriot, don't bothering coming to this motel, expecting shiny antiseptic rooms and then whining about it. My family has visited this hotel every time we have vacationed in Flagler Beach for the past 35 years. This last trip in May of 2012 has sealed the deal though. I don't believe we will be back. We stayed in a smaller room, non-efficiency, with 2 queen beds. This was a very narrow fit. Getting in and out of the room was a process, along with getting to the bathroom. In order to get in and out, we would both have to move to one side of the door, open the door, and then file out. This was due to maybe 3 feet between the doorway and the bed, and the door swing used up all this space. If you wanted to go to the bathroom, you had to shuffle past the 2nd queen bed, and hope that you didn't stub your toe on the way. The beds themselves have been upgraded. These were Sealy mattresses, and last time they were simply mattresses on wood. So this was a step up, and must be recognized. The bed sheets did not fit the beds though, and multiple times a night, you'd have to replace the fitted sheet on the mattress so that it would stay put. The room just felt dirty. In a confirmation to this, the top of the refrigerator was disgusting - covered with dust, dirt and nasty-ness. My Mom and I both like to sit on the balcony or outside the door on the plastic chairs that they have, but not this time. They were all filthy and there was only one chair near our door. We even thought about taking one (or two) from a neighboring room that was unoccupied, but those were filthy as well. The only super great thing about this place is the location. You are literally steps away from the ocean. That's the one thing that we love about this place. We did visit another hotel further down A1A that has recently been renovated and viewed some of the rooms. We will be going there next time - no doubt. We met the owner, who obviously has put a lot of time and effort in his property and it shows in his pride and workmanship.
