I know it's expensive but as a society, it's important that we start thinking more about where our food comes from, how it's actually made and how it affects our body. Food, my friends, is medicine. Just to mention some everyday organic staples that you can find here that are super affordable: they have organic garlic, onion, cumin, ground cinnamon and cayenne pepper spices super cheap (under $3 which is unheard of). They have some organic fruits and veggies (apples, avocados and sweet potatoes to name a few). Organic eggs, milk, yogurt, half & half, butter and sometimes Mexican or Mozzarella shredded cheese. There's organic chicken sausage, chicken fingers, whole chicken, chicken breast and ground beef. You'll also find organic extra virgin olive oil, balsamic salad dressing, oatmeal, wheat pasta, sauce and some snacks for the kids (PB&J, gummies and granola bars)... don't forget the nacho chips and salsa! I also shop at Aldi's for charcuterie board items. They have some yummy blueberry/cranberry goat cheese, several different cheese varieties, prosciutto, salami and quite a few dips. They even have a brand called Specially that caters to charcuterie items, you'll find: nuts, desserts, olives, jelly, smoked salmon and always something you didn't even think of to add that looks tasty! Aldi's is easy to navigate, it's not a huge store like Tops and Wegmans or even Whole Foods. But you need to bring a quarter for a cart, your own bags, and be prepped to check yourself out. We had two little boys with us today, so they combed through the produce department to pick out a selection of fresh fruits for their snacks. There is a loyalty program, which pays us a small reward for purchases made during the previous visit. Probably the biggest draw for me is the fact that they usually have a good selection of reduced meats, which are still well within the Sell By Date. We're not for that, we would not be eating meat.

They have mixed berry and coconut creme pie which are my personal favorite but they also have cherry, raspberry, blueberry, apple, rhubarb, and you can find peach in the summer. Another reason I come to Bippert's is because I eat a lot of eggs and they carry organic local farm fresh eggs 3 dozen for $16. Yes, I will buy their eggs versus going to the grocery store because there are more recalls on eggs than I care to discuss right now. Buy from your local farmer before the store people! Bippert's carries some fresh produce (whatever is seasonal) and frozen meat. I saw today that they had seedless watermelon and I got sad. I wanted to ask them where they get their watermelon but I forgot. I expected a farm to have seeded but I guess not. What is this world coming to if you can't even get a seeded watermelon at the farm. Anyway, visit them when you can, they're open year-round!
