One of my favorite parts of Wegmans is the sub shop, and right now their full-size cold subs are only $12, an incredible value that's hard to beat. I picked up a few for myself and the kids, and they made such an easy meal. Just add some fruit and veggies, and dinner (or lunch) is done. I also ordered my mom one of the build-your-own bowls and went with a Greek-inspired combination. She was really impressed! The portion was generous enough to split into two meals, and they definitely didn't skimp on the tzatziki. Wegmans continues to deliver great quality, fresh food, and excellent value. I'll definitely be taking advantage of this deal again before it's gone. read more

Great subs and good soups! Everyone knows how great the subs are but I feel the soups are underrated especially the lobster bisque. Sometimes people load up on the ingredients and will drain the broth so that's the biggest downfall. It's self serve and check out is always easy at this location as there are multiple registers. There is lots of space to dine in and a few tvs setup as well. The fountain machine is gone as people took advantage of refills and staying there all day so now you must purchase a bottle or can for a beverage. I went to the Amherst store approximately 7am 29Dec. I used the self checkout when I finalized my order. CAN'T USE CASH!!! First thing put up a SIGN when you only accepting cash at registers at the door!!! They're only accept cash at registers. I have been buying Wegmans Crumb coffee cake for a long time. This week I bought one and it was drastically smaller than they were. It is now 1.5 pounds down from 2.0 pounds. The price ($12.) is the same as the larger one was. This is just another trick to fool the consumer into thinking we're getting the same thing. Wegman's on McKinley has been one of my my favorite grocery stores for a long time. Today I was very disappointed to discover that they have eliminated the coffee bar and baristas in favor of an automated dispenser with limited options, no personalized service. Payment is also automated via self service checkout machines, resulting in long lines of frustrated customers who have no idea how to navigate the devices. I realize that market pressures are highly competitive, however one of the things that has made Wegman's special has been its personalized service and wonderful staff. My future visits will be much less frequent as I consider looking elsewhere for my needs. Sadly, the people most negatively impacted are likely the staff who were let go in these cost cutting efforts. KM read more

It has always been my favorite store to shop in for so many reasons, I honestly made a date bring me to the Wegmans where I grew up (it was a first and last date) because anyone who doesn't love wegmans... well, I digress... needless to say, well you get how I feel about this store Today I really felt like having seafood, cherry stone clams are 60 cents each... so yeah, all fresh, hand packed for me...I also wanted lobster and they're a bit pricey but I purchased one... seafood clerk was adept and speedy, no nonsense... Pretty decent Weg store for the Southern Buffalo Burbs area which is right around where everything else in the South Towns is located. I like coming here because it's a nice leafy store and quite fancy but nowhere near as fancy as the ones in the North burbs in my experience. Especially Sheridan, Transit and Alberta locations. They usually have slightly less in the way of stock as those locations do. There food bar is very expensive and very extensive but I didn't really like most of the things on offer, and the prices are disgusting for the prepared foods and hot foods. I went today for a sub from Wegmans , I got a cheesesteak with extra cheese , their new portobello mushrooms and sweet peps, it was basically flavorless. ample product on it but just no pizzazz. I went to Jersey mikes which I'm not terribly find of but I do go. I got a cheesesteak sub same ingredients but their pepper relish which really kicks it up a few notchs . Bought two take-out sandwiches; one turkey sub, which was really good, and a chicken tender wrap that was pretty bad. The wrap had a couple pieces of chicken completely overwhelmed with too much thick, spicy sauce. That and my add-ons (cheese, lettuce, onions, peppers) were all placed in a glob in the center of the (rather doughy) wheat wrap. The sides of the wrap were simply flopped over just enough to hold it while it was wrapped in paper, and slid into the bag. When it was removed for eating, it fell almost completely apart before the fist bite. I doubt I will ever try another of wegmans' "wraps." read more

This store is the closest to my house and the grocery store I go to. The service is absolutely spectacular and they have an abundance of food groceries and everything you can imagine. Plus with a great ambience you'll always wanna come back. They are prepaid meals has gotten so diverse and bigger than ever that you'll always find something to have for dinner. Plus, their app is full of recipes ideas and deals that'll fit any budget. My personal favorite is the avocado sushi the salmon volcano rule, the fried chicken and mashed potatoes and the potato skins which recently they have ran out of and I hope they'll make very soon and have a big stock. This is the store that has almost every bills mafia sauce seasoning and yes, they have a well stocked Josh Allen blend coffee. I always restock on every trip because I like the product. Plus they have the contest to appear on Kyle Brandt's basement. I don't think I have a single complaint about any product that they sell. They care about their customer and they want the very best for their customers. I highly recommend shopping at Wegmans market for the friendly staff abundance of food and great environment. This is the nicest Wegmans (IMHO- after the Sheridan Road store) in the area. Large footprint which equates to abundant selection of items. Produce is fresh and they have a decent organic section. Nature's Marketplace was revamped recently making it both easier & harder to find some things. But I like that they're now mixing some of the organic products in the regular aisles. They have a decent craft beer selection, olive bar is easy to grab something a little nicer than canned every now and then, and they usually have a good selection of prepared meals or heat and eat. The store is almost always very clean and the kids seem to enjoy the train raised above the beverage coolers in the back of the store. My only complaint is very little vegan dessert options in the bakery. I've talked to the bakery manager and it's not an issue with the store, but rather that to be labeled vegan they need to have a separate prep & bake area. Currently, the location they prepare & bake most of their items has limited space which means very limited selections for those of us that can't/don't eat dairy. read more

I've reviewed many Wegmans locations, this one honestly reminds me of the Wegmans off Maple in Amherst. The layout is the same - and it has a huge Market Cafe section with ample seating for those who want to dine in. I've always driven past this location on my late night drives but never thought it was open. I'm glad I stopped in. I love their decor sections for each season, I also like to check out their kitchen clearance sections - I always seem to find really great items. I really like that most Wegmans locations have decided to split their aisles, before they used to be long with no middle end caps, to switch aisles. I stopped here to go to the bathroom after an appointment and to buy one item and ended up buying a few more things. (They were unnecessary but awesome!!!) I needed an Amazon gift card for a friends birthday. Upon leaving the bathroom, I saw a small Buffalove section. I grabbed two new (to me) masks for the springtime. I wandered around a little bit and saw strawberry beer (near the strawberry shortcake.) I love trying new thins so I had to have it. I also bought many yummy cookies (a sunshine cookie and a rainbow cookie for one of my best friends and the rest for me) because Wegmans has the BEST bakery. I couldn't resist it. I then promptly went to the cash register so I wouldn't spent even more money. When the cashier told me my total, I wasn't surprised. I buy ALL of the unnecessary things at Wegmans and they're SO worth it!! Stop into this location soon. The selection at this Wegmans is huge. I'm a picky eater and a picky drinker, and it's the only local grocery store that enables me to get all my shopping done without having to make multiple stops. They also carry some items I can't seem to find anywhere else. The quality of their products, especially their fresh and prepared foods, is equally as pleasing. There's a reason Wegmans is known for their customer service and it's because they're good at it. I've never had an unpleasant encounter with an employee. Here, I typically don't experience the problems that I've come to expect at other supermarkets. Here are some in-depth highlights: I don't buy subs often, but every now and then, I get a hankering specifically for a Wegmans sub. My favorites are the roast beef and chicken finger subs. They don't skimp on portions and offer lots of options for everything from the bread to the toppings and dressings. They have one of the most impressive cheese inventories I've seen at a chain grocery store outside of Wisconsin. The deli employees are fast, friendly, and know what they're doing. They're knowledgeable enough about the products behind the counter to answer any general questions I may have. Unlike at some other delis, even during rushes, I've never been handed a half-open Ziploc bag with inconsistently cut meat or cheese carelessly thrown in with a crumpled wad of paper squares and a haphazardly-placed sticker barely holding it all together. Their self-serve Mediterranean Bar is kept tidy and seemingly fresh. It's very frustrating when an olive bar purchase tastes like it sat out for three weeks or is uncharacteristically mushy or hard. Anything that makes food preparation more convenient earns instant praise from me. The produce is almost always fresh. I've only had one or two experiences where the item I wanted seemed like it was starting to spoil. They also sometimes carry items that are hard to find elsewhere, like Thai chiles that aren't half-rotten or only available pre-bagged and in obnoxiously huge quantities. The international foods section is bigger and contains more items than I've seen at other local grocery chains. When it comes to store-brand foods, Wegmans exceeds other regional supermarkets by a long shot. The prices aren't bad, either (for the most part). One of my favorite Wegmans brand foods is their vegetable fried rice (available in the frozen section). Whether your taste in booze is as simple as it gets or you're on a mission to try every craft beer on Earth, Wegmans gives you options. If you're like me and opt for fruity malt beverages because you'd rather torture yourself with unbearable heartburn than choke down beer, make sure you take a peek inside the walk-in cooler, where a lot of those drinks are kept. I remember shopping at Wegmans with my mother YEARS ago, when I was little, and we still lived in Buffalo. We were in town for a family event, so we stopped by this location (near our old neighborhood) to pick-up some 'Buffalo essentials', aka Sponge Candy and Chiavetta's Marinade. Man, this place is GREAT! Way different than I remember. To me, it seems to rival Trader Joes, Whole Foods and Publix (the major grocery chain down by me in FL). Store was huge. Staff friendly. Everything seemed pretty easy to find. The assortment of produce & fruits looked vast and fresh. The bakery looked huge. The even had a sushi station where you could have sushi made fresh. There's a floral area, a BuffaLove Apparel shop, and Instacart (only in certain areas - it's a service for fresh food delivery (or pick-up) within 1 hour). The coolest thing is WKids fun center, which is an in-store daycare. Moms (or dads) can come to the store with their children and sign them in to play while they grocery shop for up to 90 minutes. Kids have to be 3+ and potty-trained. They scan your license and give you a beeper in case the child needs to use the bathroom (they don't take them). But I think this is genius! Sometimes it's so hard to food shop with a child, especially multiples. Docked one star, only because I wish they had Wegmans down by me in South Florida! I went in on 1/19/2020 and picked this blank cake out and was greeted by an awesome worker! I just wish I got her name. I asked if she could write happy 50th on it, but she didn't want it to look rushed and suggested what it has on it. Wegman's makes any other grocery chain look like Aldi. They have every day goods, more upscale goods than any other grocery chain, more meats, more cheeses, more of just about everything. They don't just sell you a nice cut of meat, they sell you the roaster or le creuset french cookware to go with it. They have an outpost of Charlie the Butcher here where you can get fresh and good beef on weck.... Though they do have a lot of products to pick from, apparently they aren't magic and do run out of things.. They were out of the brand of hotdogs we wanted, and also didn't have any Mexican chorizo left... The best part of this store in comparison to just about any other chain grocery store I've been to is the vast number of employees that are always around to help. there literally isn't an aisle to walk down where you won't find someone restocking a shelf and available to ask questions.. It seems like every person knows everything there is pretty familiar with the foods in their section, and can probably offer cooking tips, etc. One of the workers was super snotty when we whipped out the camera... I guess the competition always comes in to try to be more like Wegman's.. yada yada... but it's not like she explained this...she was just rude, she could've just asked nicely? Going to Wegmans is more of an adventure than a shopping trip, you never know what you will find. Today before we started to roam the store, we stopped at their "Buzz Coffee" stand. The coffees we ordered, a decaffeinated, low fat, almond flavored latte and a simple raspberry flavored decaffeinated , were ready faster and much cheaper than the trendy coffee places. We went to the bakery department to get my wife her birthday cake. Their baked goods never fail to impress with the taste and quality. We also picked up some Apple Cider bread with golden raisins. This seasonal offering is worth waiting for. Wandering through the meat department, we always look for the red "special today" labels. These are quality, vacuum sealed meats nearing their use by dates. They are always deeply discounted and we freeze them the same day so it's a less expensive way to eat. The rest of the time we just wandered, looking for nothing in particular. Checking out at the self service scanners is always our favorite way since it's quick and easy and you can pack your items exactly the way you want them. The machine "talks" too much and too loud but you get used to it. No matter what other stores nay open or the sales they offer, Wegmans will always be our place to shop. read more

Fair warning to all using the scan app. Don't use it!!!! My wife accidentally did not scan an item with the new scan app by mistake. She had over 150 in groceries and was told to step into an office. Then was drilled and accused like she was a hardened criminal that knew exactly what she was doing. ABSOLUTELY DISCUSSED HOW WEGMANS TREATS PEOPLE THAT CLEARLY MADE A MISTAKE. Best of all the handed her a $500 fine because of it and told her she was lucky that the police weren't called. So un called for and no reason to treat a long time customer in that way. Great place for grocery shopping, however the McKinley location has a very limited Chinese food buffet with 8 or less options, I went for the $5 roasted chicken I asked for it to be quartered so I can enjoy it in the cafe, the guy behind the prepared food dept was very nice about it however if he had known how to quarter a chicken I would have had a decent meal after all. He literally halved the whole chicken the opposite way cutting each breast in half (noted he was wearing a chefs hat) me having a culinary arts degree, was not impressed so I settled on the soup and crackers. Wegmans is one of those great grocery stores that has it all, but not always at the lowest prices. Reasonable choice for most needs, but I go there last when I shop simply because a lot of what I need can be found at discount stores like Aldies and Big Lots. As far as convenience however, Wegmans has just about everything and more! It should be noted that thier sub shop is superb and makes a great, large sub for a very reasonable price. They also have a self serve buffet which features a ton of foods like fried rice, chicken fingers, lo mein, fish, shrimp and all types of other tasty food @ $8.99 a lb. Although, with no nearby scales it's tough to guage how much food you have. Ironic that in the produce isles there are scales all over, but not here. Boo! Worthy of mention that Wegmans also has some decent sushi as well, and if you ask the sushi guys you can also buy sushi grade meats if you want to do it yourself at home! Expect to pay a premium for this, but where else can you get sushi grade fish? No where! Cleanest, nicest bathrooms around too if ya gotta go! Not my "home" Wegmans store that I typically shop at, so I was a little lost of course, since the layouts are different; but the basic themes of each Wegmans are the same. One of the things I like the best about this Wegmans in particular: their coffee bar situation. If you want a regular hot or iced coffee, you can self-serve and then get in line to purchase it with your other cafe food items. At the other stores, you have to walk up to the separate coffee bar, pay for the cup and then go fill. This setup just seemed to flow better to me. Also, the canisters of coffee are lined up in a big long row, so you just walk down the counter, you don't have to walk around to the opposite side of the counter (if you get coffee a lot at Wegmans, you know what I'm talking about). Again, this setup just flows better much better. Also, if you haven't purchased coffee from Wegmans before- try it! I love their different blends- they are super satisfying, and if you like one, you can buy them in bulk in their coffee section. Another note on this location: if you go around noon: expect it to be PACKED. Allow for extra time to park, get around the store, etc. read more

I've only been to this Wegmans or for that matter any Wegmans a few times and each time I've been - I'm not impressed. At least that's always been my first impression after hearing all the rant and rave about the place. This time was no different then any other time, because I do not shop here on a regular basis - finding anything just seems like a chore. However, they do have variety and selection. On to the review - this place has impeccable cleanliness throughout and this included the restrooms. I noticed that they cater to the mom's and dad's as the men's restroom was fully stocked with even diapers in the changing area - a first I've seen anywhere within my travels. The entire place was busy with folks looking and shopping and getting what they needed - though I didn't see any carts fully filled at any point. The selection seemed endless as we looked in high hopes for various types of bagged kale ready for steaming, but found only regular kale - disappointed for sure! We also looked for a larger variety of coffee creamer and again disappointed- though they did have a large bottle of sugar free vanilla caramel creamer - nice! Looking for their brand of decaf k-cups also proved not to be positive and therefore we left overall disappointed in the selection and variety we had heard so much about. Fruits and veggie selection seemed good as did the meats and seafood, but again - no Chilean Sea Bass to be found. We did pick up the typical sushi for our DIL, but that was about the only thing we were able to find that we haven't been able to find in our local hometown grocery store. Having said all of this - one might think I was so disappointed I'd never return or give this place a 1 or 2 star, but my first impression wasn't necessarily correct and I really think that Wegmans does a good job with most things and if I were a regular shopper I might find things easier!
