I have been eating Topsy's popcorn for about 50 years; always getting a can at Christmas ever since I was little. Quality has gone down over the years but this year, the cheese popcorn had so many hard kernels it was difficult to eat. We shook the can and had to physically inspect the kernels ensuring we ate only the large ones to avoid the hard, break your teeth ones. Why didn't we return it to the store? We paid cash (and didn't take receipt) for the largest bag of cheese (around $27) the store is not super close, and it was very close to Christmas that we did not want to deal with. Oh, and I always send a can to out of town BFF; I won't be doing in the future. Sad that quality control is gone and that they sell expensive, inferior product. Took a trip to Kansas for a wedding. This popcorn was in our welcome bag. I loved the cinnamon and the cheese so much I had to find out where the store was. SCORE!! Right down the street from our hotel! I bought the largest bag of cheese popcorn they had to bring home to NY and bought a smaller bag to munch on while I was still in Kansas. I honestly think my last meal on death row would be popcorn or include popcorn of some sort. It's is salty, crunchy, buttery and healthy (ignore the buttery part!). I've been coming to this tiny Topsy's Popcorn ship for years now. They stay open until 9:00 pm and they are located in a high trafficked strip mall. Amazingly, I rarely ever see any other customers in this store. As much as I love popcorn and Topsy's... it is expensive. On my last visit, I managed to spend $12 on popcorn. Who does that?? The small popcorn tins are $16 which is quite steep. Rarely do they have sale items... believe me, I've looked! There seems to only one employee and, apparently, she is the manager or owner. I wish she were friendlier. I've smiled at her, complemented her, joked with her and attempted small talk. Nothing. She is either very unhappy or just not a nice person. Oh well, I tried. As long as she keeps selling me delicious popcorn, I am okay. The store itself always smells nice but it just seems a bit dingy. I think it's the lighting or something. The store is clean but the lighting is odd. It's just not cozy. I certainly understand a small business has to sell a great deal of product to make survive. I would be glad to give 5 stars if prices were more reasonable and if the clerk was friendlier. Don't tell anyone but I went here twice in the span of a few hours. Buyer beware - if you make a mistake and purchase an incorrect item, Topsy's will not work with you to make it right!! I purchased a tin of popcorn today and accidentally picked up a canister that contained butter, cheese and caramel when I wanted one that contained cinnamon, cheese and caramel. Immediately after my transaction was completed I noticed the mistake and asked to exchange for the correct canister. The salesperson simply pointed to the final sale policy. It was such a "gotcha" moment that I actually felt mocked. The manager on duty would only repeat the final sale policy and quickly became antagonistic. And of course it was after 5p, when the corporate office closes, so when we called we got a customer service person who was not authorized to make an exception. We were stuck spending a lot of money on a product we didn't want. So much for helping to support a local business. I've had far better customer service from corporations ironically! read more

UNBELIEVABLE!!! I have enjoyed Topsy's Popcorn for more than 50 years. I stopped in for a bag each of cheese, caramel and cinnamon last night. The cheese was soggy so I took it back to switch it. I got some grief from the sales person but they did it reluctantly. That bag was soggy too. I still love the cinnamon and the caramel and even the plain. read more

Okay. Topsy's popcorn is my personal kryptonite. Despite being on a low carb diet (for the longest time) and avoiding all types of grain, if you ask me if I want Topsy's cheddar popcorn, the answer is yes. Always. So, with that type of bias, the store staff would have to be almost abusive to get a bad review. Truly. Fortunately for me, the staff is polite, helpful and friendly. They have the store well maintained and organized so that it's easy to find what you need and get out on to the road. There aren't any bells and whistles to the store, but they aren't necessary. It's a nice place to grab a soda and some popcorn. read more

The popcorn was tough, they need to change their oil or butter one it taste old! Worse butter popcorn I have ever had. Customer service is lacking. I received a damaged gift tub. They required me, to take photos and email to them. They never replied with a resolution. After several weeks the sender received a refund and a notice that they had no inventory to replace the tub. Don't order from here. read more

God bless Topsy's Popcorn because the rest of the world doesn't. Most the world, in fact, probably doesn't even know this location exists because most people think Metcalf South mall has gone the way of Metro North, Bannister, Mission, and Blue Ridge Malls. Tucked into a tiny alcove between Macy's and Sears, this Topsy's location is small but still delivers the same popcorn and treats you have known for years. On this particular Saturday, I made an emergency pregnancy craving stop for my wife. Topsy's has always served up delicious popcorn, both regular and flavored. Their flavored varietals are hard to beat - cheese, cinnamon, and caramel (that's pronounced care-a-mel, not the other God-forsaken way.) Their holiday tins are a perfect way to say "I love you" with popcorn. Though a ghost town of a location, the woman behind the counter told me they had a line out the door about 30 minutes prior to my arrival. I chalk this up to the holiday crush for their Christmas tins, many which are decorated with artist renderings of the Plaza Lights, very fashionable. I was pleased, as always, with their popcorn, friendly smiles, and decent prices. About 4 bucks for a medium sized bag of flavored popcorn is more than you would pay at the movies or in a store for Orville, but this is Topsy's, a Kansas City tradition! read more

STALE PRODUCT AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I had placed two orders with Topsy's Popcorn & Ice Cream for two tins of caramel corn. The popcorn of these two orders arrived fresh and delicious. However, the third order that I placed, I received very stale and poor tasting popcorn. I attempted to contact Topsy's on three occasions through their website and six occasions to their email address. I never received any type of response. This is a poor manner in which to run a business and a horrible customer service. Do not buy any product from Topsy's Popcorn & Ice Cream due to their extremely poor customer service. read more

This must be a seasonal Topsys location but its just right outside of Metcalf Mall entrance facing Metcalf at 9665 Metcalf. Bought two large KC Plaza tins. Stuffed to the brim with choice of caramel, cheese, butter, and cinnamon popcorn. Thickly coated and very tasty. Bought one large tin to take with me and 1 large to ship. Came to about $112. Is it pricey? Yes. It might be hard to justify spending that amount of coin on popcorn, but after taking a bite, it's quickly forgotten, plus the decorative tins are nice to keep. They also sell bagged popcorn too if you dont desire to have the holiday tins. read more

My brother got us some Topsy's popcorn for Christmas saying it was THE BEST. He's a foodie so we figured it would be good but we weren't prepared for HOW good. We were surprised by how the first taste of the cheese popcorn seemed to melt in our mouths. Who knew popcorn could do that?! Our kids got some popcorn tins from one of the big box stores for Christmas, so when we dished out popcorn for everyone we gave the kids the cheap stuff and kept the Topsy's for ourselves. Unfortunately the kids had already tasted the Topsy's popcorn, and even our five year old who doesn't have the most discerning taste buds ate all of my bowl because he wanted "the tasty popcorn" too. In a side-by-side comparison, Topsy's is PHENOMENAL compared to the other store-bought tin popcorn. Topsy's caramel makes the other caramel taste burnt and the butter and cheese are just plain amazing. We had no idea popcorn could be that good and we're definitely Topsy's fans now! read more

I tried to send 7 cans of Topsy's Popcorn yesterday to the 7 people I send them to annually. They sent me a copy of last year's order which i tried to resend via phone call which received a small discount. It looked like the way they wanted to do business. However, the site had no way to repeat the previous order which they sent me a copy of. Apparently they were having some system problem. I spent about a half hour with them trying to get it all done...then they took away the discount since their system wouldn't let me place the order. The manager was warned I was not going to pay it after spending my time trying to overcome their problem. She insisted that I listen to her on why they could not take the advertised discount which I did not want to hear after already spending a lot of time.
