The owner is very welcoming and the place is small, but cozier than I expected. I had some worries about Mongolian cuisine, since I only eat fish and vegetarian food. Because of the landlocked country's very cold climate and lack of rivers/lakes -- making produce, rice, and spices very difficult to grow -- this is a cuisine that's all based on meat, animal fats, dairy, and some noodles and dumplings, with some culinary influences from it's neighbors Russia and China. But the owner is very helpful. After giving us tea and golden-fried dough balls as a classic Mongolian welcoming appetizer, she said they could make me one of the Chinese-inspired glass noodle dishes with just vegetables. It was a generous portion, seasoned in a no-frills way with salt and pepper, but very tasty. My husband, who eats meat, had the much more traditional buuz, which are dumplings with meat. He was happy with it. We also got a sauerkraut and carrot side salad with light vinegar, and a Russian-inspired potato salad with carrots, peas, pickles, and mayo that is not vegetarian -- it tasted quite savory and a little smoky, and we think it had some ham in it. And of course we had to try the Mongolian milk tea, which is made with green tea, whole milk, butter, and it's slightly salted (in Mongolia, this would be made with horse milk.) It's an acquired taste, but it fits the cuisine. The whole experience and friendly hospitality of the owner made this a fun dinner for us. Note: although they have "Mongolian beef" on their menu, that is actually NOT a Mongolian dish -- that was an invention by a Taiwanese restaurateur who used the name for marketing purposes.

Anna will recommend the beef pastry as that's the signature dish of Mongolia, so I intend to try that next time I'm in. Nami Sushi is located in a strip mall on Lawerence Ave. We found that they have a fairly extensive menu of different sushi's. We started out w/several appetizers. The first one & of my favorites was the soft shell crab which was delicious. We also ordered several sushi rolls to be shared w/the table. They came together on one platter. One was an assortment of sashimi on rice. The pieces of sashimi were very skimpy. The other sushi roll was ok. The best appetizer was the soft shell crab deep fried & served w/a dipping sauce. After the appetizers we ordered our dishes. My wife and her friend ordered a chicken teriyaki dinner that came w/miso soup, an artistically arranged salad & chicken teriyaki which was mediocre quality chicken. Sorry to say the chicken wasn't very tender & kind of lacked flavor. My buddy says every time he flies to the Philippines (he's Guatemalan) they stop in either Japan or Korea he orders Tempura Udon in the airport. I ordered the shrimp tempura & vegetable tempura. The quantity was generous but the shrimp tempura batter was lacking. By this I mean good tempura batter/panko is very light, flaky & crispy, this was none of the aforementioned. The batter was heavy & lacked the consistency that shrimp tempura should have. The vegetable tempura was decent. I especially liked the onion & the red pepper as the tempura batter nicely complimented these vegetables. This also came w/miso soup & an artistically presented salad. Overall the restaurant is nice the service was good but sorry to say the food was lacking. For me personally I was disappointed as the Yelp reviews had 4 1/1 stars that I didn't feel were justified.

I found Tang Korean and the soups were delicious and exactly what we were looking for! Two of us had the sellongtang soup --oxbone and tendon -- and the other had the beef rib soup. Soups were served in clay pots so they stayed hot. All were delicious!! There were noodles in the soup and they were very generous with the tendon meat, which was impressive. The soups came with kimchi and rice. I loved my soup because it's not oily. Instead, the broth is silky and the tendon melts in your mouth. The white broth is the result of 22 hours of simmering until all the nutrients come out of the bone and flavor the soup. (That alone --I mean I could make it myself but all that time and effort, I'd rather come to this restaurant!) Also, the collagen is so good for your skin and hair --and the soup is truly so delicious! Keith is the owner and he made sure to check on us and see how we were enjoying the food. I mentioned that I noticed the waitress eating her lunch and it looked like Korean sweet and sour pork. I asked if that was on the menu. He said it's actually chicken and no they don't serve it on the menu. But then he went back to the kitchen and brought some out for us to enjoy anyways. That was nice. It was delicious too! He had specifically asked for zero spice and no peppers. The dish I ordered was a spice level 3. Not the best screw up when someone specifically asks for zero spice. She then avoided our table entirely and offered no explanation or apology. The younger male then brought us our check. We've loved this spot as a solid go to because we live walking distance and it doesn't disappoint. Moving forward, we'll probably opt for something else in the neighborhood. I won't be going back as long as she's working there. Food is good and prices are fair. Thumbs down on the drop in service quality.

We lived above the restaurant during that time period. My dad was the chef and my mom ran the restaurant. I love Real Thai because the food is fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Everything that we ate was delicious, especially the fried mussel pancake! I usually only order pad Thai at Thai restaurants, but I decided to branch out and order the pancake...and I'm so glad I did! It was crispy and even my 4 year old liked it. Service was attentive and the food came out quickly. We will definitely be back here again...both for the nostalgia and for the delicious food.

We had Sang Gai Bi and the Heuk Sam Gyup Sal which was the pork belly. We loved them both. I personally like the beef over the pork but I would get both again. Lastly we ordered a marinated pork (forgot the name of it) and it was good, but I think we all preferred the non marinated meat better. But meat just tastes better bbq'd on charcoal, y'na mean? It honestly had been a decade and a half since I went to a proper charcoal KBBQ, so this was super exciting for me. The place had an old facade that was reminiscent of the "old days" for me. Not to say it was run down or anything, but everything from the floorplan to the old tables with charcoal pit installed tables reminded me of the KBBQ era of the 90's and beyond. Loved it! My family went inside way past lunch hour, so the place had cleared out and owners seemed to have been having lunch. The two gentlemen eho greeted us gave out father and son energy, but I couldn't be sure. There was a life sized photo of the oldtimer in a marathon getup hanging on one side of the shop entrance, which he explained was taken a decade ago. I could tell he would have been around my father's age, but seemed super healthy. A pleasant man for sure! It may not necesaarily be a good thing for owners, but I love it when there aren't too many patrons around, because it means that I'll get all the attention I need from them, when I need. It was certainly the case here. They were super attentive when we needed something. To be fair, we knew exactly what we wanted, so it wasn't like we needed to call them every 5 minutes, but it certainly was easy to get their attention when I needed another bottle of beer. :-D My family of three order two servings of marinated galbi, contemplating on whether or not to order my wife's favorite pork belly. In the end, we were too full and were glad we stopped with only two servings. We'll just have to come back to try other meat later. This is ALWAYS a dilemma for my family. All three of us each have our favorites, but none of us can eat a whole serving. We usually end up going with my daughter's favorite every time, unless my wife and I are out by ourselves, which these days is not as often as I'd like. We'll just have to wait a couple more years for her to graduate.. Galbi (short ribs) was GREAT! Not much else to say about it, other than the fact that any meat will taste better when grilled on charcoal. With so many other KBBQs around town with more "hip" and "modern" atmosphere, I don't know how well New Seoul is doing these days, but I certainly hope they do enough business to continue to be around. More and more Korean restaurants are moving away from their traditional way of doing things in order to cater to American audiences. They may not be huge changes, but these subtle changes make people like me and my wife a bit sad because it eats away a little bit of our nostalgia each time we experience some. I hate to sound like an old man about it, but I guess it falls to people like myself to continue to support more of the traditional places like these over the young ones. Anyway, based on just the marinated galbi my family had, I must give them 5 stars!
