This is my go to spot for authentic Chinese, however today, my crab Rangoon order had no crab/cream cheese inside, they were plain! So I called let them know, and the lady,2 faced btw, said " that's our style" if you no like don't order next time". I am on a quest to find a great, Cantonese-style casual Chinese restaurant in the suburbs. This place meets all the criteria except for having good food: the owners are a pleasant older couple, the place is worn and dated but clean, the portions are generous, and the prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area. Service sucked because they were busy with carryout orders and only the chef and the other owner (presumably his wife) were working. It's like going back to the 1970's for dinner, atmosphere and experience, which isn't a good thing. We had wonton soup, Yu Shing shrimp, orange chicken and tea for dinner. The soup was good; everything else was pretty flavorless. I was particularly surprised by the chicken whose orange sauce looked pale and tasted bland. Something out of a Christmas Story, super small mom and pop hole in the wall establishment, husband and wife duo with one manning the front and the other cook up each order Individually. Seating of only 9 tables it reminded me of a small town restaurant, quiet, quaint, and the feeling of being served in someone's personal home kitchen. Nothing fancy, retro old school chairs and table cloths. Don't expect superb service, but it's ok, because for the value, the food is authentic, simple, and was very enjoyable. Loved seeing a dinner "special" on the menu, which was a nice addition to a typical lunch special, fried rice and egg roll included. Was happy to support a local business. read more

Honestly this food is amazing. Hands-down best Mongolian beef I have ever had . If you don't look carefully you might miss it. They have great customer service too. Every time I come I am treated very kindly. If you have to wait a minute or two they always apologize and thank you for waiting. I love coming here You can tell they care about their customers. I always take my food to go. I don't really recommend dining in on hot days - no ac when I went in June 2025. read more

Yelped Chinese food and Hoa popped up with good reviews. We tried carry out (3) entrees, Beef w/ Broccoli, Orange Chicken and Pineapple Chicken. All entrees came with an egg roll and fried rice. Orange Chicken and Beef w/ Broccoli were extremely good. We chose chicken and beef fried rice which were equally good. They added garlic in the rice which enhanced the flavor. The Pineapple Chicken came with minimal sauce and was dry- missed the mark. Egg rolls were really good, flavorful, light and not greasy. The portions were fair but not generous. Food and service go hand in hand. But to not receive engagement will other families gain customer service ruins the experience. It's a small place in a strip mall, which seems to have been there since ages. The food is good, and the hostess is warm and kind. I love to find hidden gems, Hoa My is definitely a gem! I actually drove past it a couple of times before I saw the sign for it. From the lady that took the time to not only take my order but helped me order exactly what I wanted; this place exceeded my expectations. I had the Hunan beef&chicken with spicy shrimp fried rice and a shrimp eggroll. She was a delight that really took the time to get me exactly what I wanted. The food was excellent, hot and delicious!!! The portion size was perfect, I was full but not stuffed. And when I went to pay for my meal I was thoroughly surprised by how economical it was. That was a lot of food for the money. The restaurant itself was clean but not cluttered. A regular came in to get his order to go and said that he had been coming here for many years and I can see why. I will definitely come again the next time I'm in the city. It was OK not wowed. The lo mein had a decent flavor, but no vegetables. their beef in the rice and the lo mien and Mongolian beef was all the same. eggrolls were not impressive. I was disappointed. Food was great! I think I found my go to Chinese spot. The chicken in the sweet and sour chicken were huge! The egg foo young tasted good and so did the Chow fun with beef. I didn't give this place 5 stars because we came to pick up the food about an hour after we ordered it and it wasn't ready. I highly recommend this restaurant as the restaurant is run by the owner who is extremely friendly very happy to help explain their specialties. Called for pick up and they were very rude and rushed to take my order. I asked simple questions about prices and the person said "do you want it or not". (shrimp fried rice) I got here and the lady said she was calling me back because they didn't know what we ordered so they made us combination fried rice. And got upset when I said I wanted my shrimp fried rice. The two people next to us also said they had been waiting for over 50mins and all the lady was doing was screaming. This is our second time coming here. We just found out that if you move the tables that block the entrance, you can sit and eat in. No communication at all. No signage. We ordered our food over the phone because we were unaware that you can dine in. We were told our food would be ready in 20 minutes. We showed up 28 mins later and the food wasn't ready. We told the lady we're here for pickup, she asked for our phone number, walked away, and now we're just sitting here waiting unaware of when our food will be ready. read more

I've been ordering food from here for a couple of years now and it is consistently good. I typically order one of the dinner specials which comes with your choice of fried rice (I typically get shrimp fried rice) and an egg roll. The entree is usually good (I've had various chicken and beef dishes) and the shrimp fried rice is good and contains large pieces of shrimp. The portion size is very large and it will definitely fill you up. The egg rolls are decently sized and taste good. I have also ordered the crab rangoon which are some rather large pieces. They do not hold back on the filling and the crab rangoon here is excellent. I have to take off a star though because they don't always answer the phone or open on time during the week. There have been a few times now where I've called to place an order around noon and, despite having that as their opening time, no one answers. Also, when you do order make sure to add on 10 additional minutes to whatever estimate they give you for the food to be ready. Almost everytime I have gone to pick up my order, I have had to wait an additional 5-10 minutes for it to be ready. So 30 minutes means 40. Nonetheless, the food is consistently good, serving sizes are plentiful, and the prices are good. If you're looking for good Chinese food in the area, this place is a great option. read more

TYPICAL 'HOOD JOINT This a good, standard Chinese food takeout joint. Looks dingy inside. Verrrrry nice mom-and-pop couple are owners. Like your ideal grandparents. I've only been there once and ordered veggie egg rolls and veggie fried rice. Egg rolls were really spring rolls and although the fried rice was plentiful, it lacked strong enough flavor for me. I added Bragg's Amino Acid and solved that problem.
