I 110% percent support sauce to taste. However, just the only places that might, sometimes, be able to get away with sauce FOR taste are BBQ restaurants. Even then, it's iffy - if the meat can't stand on its own, and needs a bath of some class of syrup, it's maybe not all that good. This is the crux of my complaint with Tang's Bibimbap. The beef within the stone bowl was insipid, lacking any freshness or seasoning. It felt as though it'd been made at least an hour before, and then added as part of assembly. the veggies and egg had some flavor of their own, but not much. It took a *healthy* amount of sauce to turn up the flavor of the bowl. After a couple round of sauce, mix, and taste, I got the flavor turned up to where I liked it. After then, the bowl was fine, and by then the rice had transformed into divine crispness from being pressed into the stone. Don't get me wrong, the bowl became fine. Still, I feel as though there is a difference between food that stands on its own, or one that needs additions to not be sent back. The Banchan were of the same theme as the Bibimbap. While some (not all) had flavor, such as the kimchi, these flavors felt uninspired and plain. Usually, there is at least one or two standout Banchan, but not in this case. An area I want to give points for was the service. The food came out fast, and the server was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Final verdict: The overall experience was okay, in the way that works if you're in a pinch. Sauce is mandatory, and side plates are underwhelming at best. However, despite some misses with the Banchan, the Bibimbap was perfectly edible. read more

Excellent food and great service. We enjoyed our experience at Tang Korean restaurant! We wanted lunch and I asked myself, what is healthy and cooked and not a sandwich and fries? I found Tang Korean and the soups were delicious and exactly what we were looking for! Two of us had the sellongtang soup --oxbone and tendon -- and the other had the beef rib soup. Soups were served in clay pots so they stayed hot. All were delicious!! There were noodles in the soup and they were very generous with the tendon meat, which was impressive. The soups came with kimchi and rice. I loved my soup because it's not oily. Instead, the broth is silky and the tendon melts in your mouth. The white broth is the result of 22 hours of simmering until all the nutrients come out of the bone and flavor the soup. (That alone --I mean I could make it myself but all that time and effort, I'd rather come to this restaurant!) Also, the collagen is so good for your skin and hair --and the soup is truly so delicious! Keith is the owner and he made sure to check on us and see how we were enjoying the food. I mentioned that I noticed the waitress eating her lunch and it looked like Korean sweet and sour pork. I asked if that was on the menu. He said it's actually chicken and no they don't serve it on the menu. But then he went back to the kitchen and brought some out for us to enjoy anyways. That was nice. It was delicious too! We got hit with a winter storm but we are in need with some good hot spicy soup and nutritious food. Tang Korean Restaurant was open and we were so happy to be there! The folks were gracious and attentive. Make our time extra special. The food was good and hits the spot all three of us. We even ordered a seafood pancake as an appetizer (sorry no pic, we devoured it quick) and it was delicious and hearty. The environment and tables were very clean. We love how each table was separate on some sides and made it more special area. They said they are preparing a new menu with barbecue next month! We can't wait to be back and try other items. Love this restaurant! I came here a few years ago and I remember it being so good. This time we got food to go. We got the pork stir fry and the spicy squid and vegetables. The squid was actually so spicy and so good. And the pork was good, I wish there was an option to add spice to it, really would have elevated the dish. Pleasantly surprised about this place and it's a bit further from we live in Chicago. It's nice to have some delicious Korean not being extra spicy since most Korean food is usually spicy hot. We still ask for mild and it comes out spicier than expected. We went another place nearby which is really hot. Anyways, they have a nice handful of appetizers that are appealing. Nice people who work there. The lighting is definitely bright with lots of TVs turned on. You might have thought it was a night club if you didn't think it was a restaurant. This is probably one of my new favorite places for authentic korean food. It's pretty roomy inside - I've never seen it fully packed. Service was great - I think it's owned by an elderly couple. I came with a friend and I (shockingly) over ordered. I wanted to try their jokbal and bossam...and a soup so I got their seolleongtang. I didn't realize how big the portions were for the jokbal/bossam set. Their jokbal reminded me of my time in Seoul. I would definitely come back just for the jokbal/bossam alone. I've always stopped by for dinner but their lunch menu + prices look pretty interesting. I will definitely have to stop by for lunch in the future. read more

They always have newer people, the original staff made the food very delicious but they're no longer to be found no matter when I go. The newer chef's food isn't tasty. The food has an odd taste like it's spoiled and the sides are not fresh. The ambiance used to be really nice but now it seems like they're not focused on that. The restaurant is very clean and service was fast and friendly. 육개장 is one of my favorite tangs and Tang makes it so well. Such a good balance of savory, spicy, and clean. I used to really enjoy this place, but ever since the ownership changed to someone non-Korean, the food just isn't the same. The golbaeng-i muchim was incredibly salty and yet somehow had no flavor -- totally off from how it used to taste. Well this is my 2nd time coming here and I just came from the botanical gardens with my mom on memorial Day so have craving for Korean. I've been here before my Seattle Sutton's diet around February and the food was actually pretty decent if not good authentic Korean food. This time I brought my mom and this is a dinner.
