Very good for a very reasonable price. Ii got the Ala Carte 2 Burrito and Caso, 1 chicken 1 beef. Chips n salsa included which I poured on the burritos. The picture doesn't do it justice. If there is a place in Jackson that I want to go out and have really good food for cheap it's here. It Really takes you into the feeling of a restaurant that feels like Applebees or a stake house but with authentic Mexican food that is actually season very well and tastes delicious. My whole family can get full with entries and sides all for under 40 dollars. We were out for a Sunday drive and ended up in Jackson. Unfortunately, the town seemed mostly closed and we ended up this mostly unmarked, prior Rax building. The first warning sign was that the interior was hotter than the outside. We were brought a wrong meal, not a big deal but it could have been handled better on their part. The salsa is bland and they used plain tomato sauce on the entree. The place is dirty and screams 'bare minimum'. no one seems like they want to be here in including the diners which are probably only their because of the limited choices in Jackson. Oh, and The bill was also for more than the total of food we ordered I wanted to really give this place 2 stars, at least, but it was such a negative experience it changed the trajectory of our day. read more

I like this place, it's affordable and a decent place to have lunch. I've always had the buffet, which includes several offerings. One of those is chicken wings/legs which are very good and crispy! Taco bar with all the fixings, several other dishes. It's rare to see a Mexican joint with a buffet. I've always had the buffet and base my review solely upon that. read more

I really don't get the bad reviews on here. I guess for people who think Taco Bell is real Mexican food, they won't like this place, but if you have ever actually had real Mexican food, you'll appreciate this restaurant. I had seen this place a few times when I come back to visit my family, but had never stopped in, as my mother had told me how awful it was. Of course, I should've known not to listen to her when her complaint was "they put that nasty guacamole on everything", apparently not thinking for one moment that she could order food WITHOUT the guac, but I digress..... We stopped in around 9pm on a Saturday on our way back from the day at Kings Island (which got rained out). We had a group of 9 people, and I'm sure the last thing the staff wanted to see an hour before closing time (yes, they close at 10pm, but it's Jackson, OH....not exactly a hub of nightlife) was a large group, especially one with a baby, but they were friendly and attentive regardless. I will say their English doesn't seem to be very good, but it was good enough to figure out what we wanted and get the order right, so that's all that matters. Their menu is extensive enough so that even if you have people in your party who aren't big fans of Mexican food (hello...Mom!), they can still find something they'll enjoy. My niece ordered BBQ chicken, we were able to get french fries for the little one, and my nephew got wings. Not what I would order in a Mexican restaurant, but when you have to please the masses, it works. Overall, the food was good, the beer was cold, and the service was fast and friendly. So then why only 3 stars, you may ask? Well....I just wasn't "dazzled" by anything. The best Mexican restaurants make a little more effort, dress up the food a little bit, play some Latin music in the background.....but instead, we had multiple TVs blaring a game. The salsa was a little on the bland side, but still tasty. Also, I'm not a big fan of the "pay at the counter" system. I would much prefer to give my payment to my server, but here they bring you the check, but you then have to walk up to a counter to pay. Not a huge deal, but just a pet peeve of mine. Price-wise, they were average. I had 3 cheese enchiladas with rice & beans and 2 Coronas, and my check came to just under $17. My brother-in-law did say that they have a lunch buffet during the week, so I'd be interested to see what's on that and what the price is, although I didn't see a sign for it. read more

This mexican restaurant is located inside an old Rax and is about as authentic as you're going to get in southern Ohio. The avocados aren't always as good as the ones you'll get in Columbus, but the meats are really, really good. The portions are large, and the staff is friendly, though knowing a little bit of Spanish or having some patience will help. The food comes out quickly, and they're open on a lot of holidays when the rest of Jackson is shut down, so if you need an Easter meal and in a pinch, I'd suggest trying Toro Loco! read more

It's your average TexMex restaurant. Service was good, but with the usual lack of extensive English. The stars of the meal were the Chili Verde & Chili Colorado. Both made with the same tender pork meat. Very good flavors, but did have some fatty pieces. The rest of the food were average. Atmosphere was nice inside, shabby outside. Priced as expected. It has been a long time since I'd been here so this really was a nice supper for the three of us. Crowded! Great service, attentive, not pushy, professional, observant. Clean! The bathroom was extremely clean and the restaurant was slammed. FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD.....Not bad. I admit that I'm a Mexican food snob after traveling the globe. I ordered Enchiladas Rancheras, 3 Cheese Enchiladas with rice. Temperature was hot at service, presentation appealing. The rice was ok, not much flavor but more al dente and that's my preference. Enchiladas were really full, lots of flavor...I asked for the hottest sauce because there was zero KICK to salsa. The chips/salsa...There was no way the chips were made there fresh...no flavor, basket of broken chips like you'd find in the bottom of a chip bag. Chips were not warmed. Yucky, yucky Chili Relleno....looked good until I cut into it and it was packed with flavorless hamburger (like the kind some restaurants receive in large 5' bags) and a tomato-type sauce....NO CHEESE INSIDE. For me, I'd never order the Relleno again. I walked away angry at myself for not asking if they have corn tortillas vs the flour tortillas they served to our table. read more

This place has been here for a while, they have done well and not so well at some points. Currently buffet time is the best time to come. The food is hot,fresh, and kept full. They have issues keeping up with drinks, also if you order off the menu plan on waiting a while for your food. The salsa is not really that good any more. It used to be a nice chunky picante salsa and now it's a very bland salsa. The beans seam like packaged dehydrated beans with little to no seasoning. The family visited Toro Loco for another great meal. The staff was right on point this evening with frequent refills on chips and pop. The fajitas for two was very good. Only thing I could have improved for me was I like my veggies and chicken with a bit more char from the hot skillet. Still everything was good and we didn't leave much on the plate. The kids along with my daughters friend had the typical kids fare of chicken nuggets and fries and they said it was good. Two thumbs up Toro! read more

The main entree was very good. I got the beef chimichangas. The rice was very dry though. The beans were also not very good at all. In fact, I only took one bite & didn't have anymore. The first time we went my wife ordered much better than I did so I was a tiny bit skeptical about the overall quality...she got chori pollo and added pineapple and it was quite delicious. I always say that the way to rate a Mexican restaurant is by their burro grande or super burro...I couldn't have been more dead wrong! Their burro grande is simply simple, it had a bland flavor but was still at least edible...the second time we went my wife ordered the same and decided to get el pastor and it was entirely different than my first experience...I loved it! I strongly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Mexican food, this place is a close second to my favorite Mexican joint and it is definitely a possible contender for first! My only advisement when you order is to try something other than the burro grande. read more

Went along time ago and stopped going because the food and the place look bad. Went back after two years was great clean and the food was wonderful. I don't know what happen in one week but went yesterday and the food sucked they used tomato sauce on the food canned like. Had no Mexican flavor at all very poor idea.
