I did like this place but some guy had an attitude with my Mother an hour ago and she was nice even though the guy was rude. I usually enjoy it but I didn't get all the toppings I wanted. She showed him my text because she felt rushed and I'm missing jalapeños, fajitas and lettuce. The bowl was halfway full compared to the many times I've order from there. Great flavors! So I'd compare this to a more authentic chipotle. You order along the glass area and pick all your toppings. Unlike chipotle, you can also get enchiladas and shrimp tacos. Around the same toppings as chipotle with different variations like cotija cheese and different sauces. I tried the salad bowl, no tortilla (hard or soft) base. I got the grilled chicken, white rice, pinto beans, corn salsa, shredded cheese, fajita veggies, and the creamy tomatillo sauce and it was so tasty. There's so much flavor and unlike chipotle, their chicken wasn't like mildly spicy. They definitely give you plenty of food so plan on leftovers. The kids portion for the quesadilla is better fitted for a kids appetite so don't expect something huge. Overall, I enjoyed the food for the price. Staff was kind with helping with our group as we were probably the first of the lunch period and by 11:30, the restaurant started to fill up. We came here for dinner a little closer to closing than I usual like to go places. It is a fast casual restaurant with chipotle style ordering, but more authentic Mexican choices in my opinion. The food is mid. I only went because of the reviews and old specials i thought they had. The Spanish rice was super dry to the point where it crumbled and was no longer a grain. They are also very skimpy on the meat for an $11.65 burrito (I got chicken). The grilled chicken had an amazing flavor but I had to fill my burrito with a bunch of veggies to be fulfilled. I love Tortilla Ranch! It's my new favorite in Overland Park! Pricing is perfect., I can split a big chicken bowl, chips, queso, two drinks for under $20. It's always yummy, always. Stopped in for lunch with my sister today & it was very good! I got nachos with carnitas, and they were delicious. She got a bowl with the shredded beef. It was super yummy. Since this was my only first night time here, I'm gonna start with four stars. This is a nice, clean, and unique little place, kind of off the beaten track so you might never see it. It's behind the first row of building that front on College Blvd, and right by Lamar's Doughnuts and Pride Cleaners. It's worth finding! I was impressed with their super fresh ingredients, being able to view the prep area, and the employee's patience with my questions about the menu. You can get pretty much any combination of ingredients, and customize your order, including the sauces/salsas/toppings. My food was really good...the only drawback was how salty it was (but probably not more than most Mexican restaurants). Its a pleasant place to eat inside, but I opted for carryout on a beautiful day, and discovered a lone white picnic table in a grassy treed area behind all the buildings! read more

I have eaten here three times but it had been a while.. . I don't know why I waited so long! It is fast food prepared as you walk down a line kind of like Chipolte but more options! Since it had been a while, i needed my cervesa battered Baja shrimp tacos. I didn't have s margarita this time but confirmed they still have a happy hour and the margaritas arr now just $3.75 during it. And...if that isn't enough to get you to eat here...try their Tres Leches cake! Yum! Last, on the tables they have a nice variety of hot sauces. WORST SERVICE experience I have ever had there over many years of me being a loyal patron. We ordered an enchilada burrito which is the same price as a regular burrito. My father was scolded in line for wanting to add additional items on the inside of the enchilada burrito. They Instructed him that orders of that nature were only allowed in regular burritos. He was then told NOT COME BACK again if we were to ask for order request. One employee left the line and refused to finish the order as they continued to speak down to my father as he paid. It's absolutely ridiculous and completely out of line for any employee to treat a customer in that way. Especially when the biggest competitor they have is down the street and would easily make anything for any client. Lost a long time customer. Embarrassing. read more

My deepest and most sincere apologies are due Tortilla Ranch for the years I've referred to them as "just another Chipotle wannabe", laughing as I drive by. We were in the area this weekend and decided to give them a try (by ordering online and taking home). The food was ready and waiting for me when I arrived. I had just ordered online from College & Quivira, so maybe 10 minutes ahead of time. We got an enchilada burrito with the braised beef and shrimp tacos. We were both thrilled with the food. I didn't try the tacos, but the beef was so good and what a huge portion! Easily enough food for two meals from each. We're already talking about "when we go back"! Very easy to order and I will say the employees were very friendly (saw some negative reviews so wanted to share that I had a positive experience with the employees) Food had good flavor, that's not in question at all. Rice was good. Chicken was good. One of my favorite things about the food was the Jalapeño Ranch dressing. Glad I decided to try it, added a little kick to the rest of my bowl. Here's why I gave it 3 stars... the portion and the price I paid for the portion. Looking at the picture you can see the bowl is not filled. Not even 1/2 full. One scoop of rice and one scoop of chicken would be great for a child however I am not a child. At this point I would've had to say "more" every single time I asked for something. I would go back sometime in the distant future to give them another try because the food really did have good flavor... maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. If we lived local we would definitely be back. Pros: Super quick and friendly service even though they had a long line of people. The ingredients all looked fresh and the food was delicious. We all tried a variety, ground beef, shredded beef, and grilled chicken with lots of toppings. So good! Cons: It was a little hot in the restaurant, we were sweating just seated. But it was almost 100° outside today and with as busy as they were I'm assuming a lot of opening and closing of their doors. The queso was yummy but super runny. Ive been going to tortilla ranch quite a bit and usually they give good portions and make it just right but recently there is a new older lady. Her portions are extremely small and limited and she charges extra which i normally don't get charged extra. This is the first time that the food was not as good. It's similar to chipotle in the sense that you can build your own bowl and burritos. I decided to get the enchiladas bc duh. So first off I love that they use flour tortillas for it, the only thing is that they didn't cook the tortilla so it was hard to cut and eat, I had to pull out the knife and fork for this enchilada secondly wasn't a big fan of the salsa verde they put on the enchiladas. The beans were good I wish I had filled the enchiladas w beans instead of the chicken. Personally I didn't like it, I'll probably never go there again. But I feel like the bowls might be good but I don't know for sure ‍ they have good happy hour deals! This might be a good alternative to Chipotle. If you like Texmex you may like this place especially since you wouldn't have to wait unless there's a line. Considering its category of fast casual Mexican - in my humble opinion, Tortilla Ranch does it best. I basically switch between the enchilada burrito and the layered nachos. Their spicy ranchero sauce is the bomb and has real heat to it. Their chicken, beef, and pork are all delicious. Ask them to add meat AND faijita veggies in whatever dish you choose. You'll be glad you did. At their "topping" station - I love that they have fresh, diced, jalapenos. Those + the ranchero sauce and you'll begin to sweat. My mouth is watering as I type this. One other tip (if you are dining with youngins): kids eat free on Saturdays. So if it's Saturday night, there's a great chance you'll see me with my family while I enjoy $2.50 margaritas. Blows Chipotle out of the water. Pricing is also higher, but I feel like it's worth it, because of the ingredient options. The shrimp, mahi-mahi, and chicken are all great (I need to try the ground beef next, it's cooked with onions and looks super good). The amount of beer-battered shrimp you get is fairly skimpy (4pc I think?), but the taste is just phenomenal. Both the jalapeño and cilantro dressing are great, and even better mixed together. Guac, again, is pricey, but well worth it. Their fajita veggies are also much more well cooked than Chipotle's. Just be prepared to spend around $15-20 per person if you eat in. read more
