When we arrived, there were team members outside ready to help, and everything was extremely organized. The wait was practically nonexistent -- they truly have the takeout process down to a science. The Overland Park location is centrally located, with plenty of parking throughout the shopping area. The atmosphere inside is both intimate and spacious. The kitchen sits behind glass windows, allowing you to see the magic behind the scenes. The Taste of Kansas City platter is more than enough to feed three people. We ordered spare ribs, brisket, pulled pork, burnt ends, and Fiery Wings (they were out of bone-in chicken). The Fiery Wings had great flavor but were served a little cold. The baked potato was generously sized and wasn't overloaded with sour cream. The spinach salad was refreshing and fresh. The vinaigrette had excellent flavor and contrasted beautifully with the smoked bacon on top. The Cheesy Corn was underwhelming. The texture was very runny, and it lacked flavor. The Hickory Pit Beans are slow-cooked and loaded with chunks of hickory-smoked brisket, pork, and sausage... THESE ARE GREAT! They're a bit on the sweet side, but they're absolutely worth ordering. I mean, Jack Stack to me is some of the best bbq in town. I've eating inside the restaurant and always was seated right away with fantastic service and food. I've also picked up my orders to enjoy from home, still absolutely fantastic bbq. Le bf always, always gets the smoked turkey sandwich and I typically resort to the meat plates woth burnt ends, sausage and brisket. This was my first Kansas City BBQ experience. The ambiance was lively, service was friendly, and portions were generous. We started with the jalapeño cornbread and it was a satisfying app to begin the meal. Our group was excited to try the Taste of Kansas City but unfortunately they had run out of ribs and weren't able to offer any substitutions. We ended up ordering two Roundups and added wings as well. The sides were solid - especially the corn cake and hickory pit beans. Jack Stack Barbecue has delicious food! My boyfriend and I enjoyed it after a Kansas City Chiefs game last weekend. We ordered the cheese dip with chorizo sausage and poblano peppers that was very creamy and mildly spicy. We each had a cranberry vodka to drink. For dinner, he ordered beef ribs with baked beans. I ordered a baked potato stuffed with burnt ends bbq, sour cream, butter and cheese. Very tasty for both entrees! Plenty to share. First time trying what many consider to be one of the big dogs of KC BBQ, and thought it was really good but not great - though that might be partially due to it being takeout instead of dine in. If you don't know already, Jack Stack's BBQ beans are extremely good - by far their best side dish. The beef burnt ends are thick and lean, which makes them a little more dry, but I prefer it that way over fatty. The beef brisket was a little dry, but the smoked turkey was very good. I hadn't actually eaten here in YEARS like maybe over a decade, but I had been to the freight house location and figured it would feel like that - sadly it really doesn't hit the mark. Jack Stack is known in KC for being an elegant, fine dining bbq experience, so that's what I was hoping for when we made a reservation for some out of town guests and ourselves the night before my husband's 40th birthday party. While it was a nice dinner overall, the space inside felt dated, and old fashioned. It did not feel elegant, and it honestly made me feel if anything a bit embarrassed to bring my friends here after hyping it up. The food was excellent as was the company and the service so it wasn't a bad time, just knowing how other locations are it made me feel like this one is way overdue for an upgrade. Knowing this now we will stick to carry out and if we dine-in likely trek to the crossroads. My sister also did the pick 3, but with beef ribs, brisket, and bone-in chicken, and she couldn't stop raving either. We both added fries on the side, and they were spot on--crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned. My daughter went for the smoky wings with roasted Brussels sprouts and baked beans. The wings were juicy and smoky, the sprouts roasted to perfection, and those baked beans? Rich, hearty, and bursting with flavor--exactly what you want alongside BBQ. For drinks, my daughter ordered the KC Lemonade (refreshing and full of kick), and my sister enjoyed a mimosa that paired perfectly with her meal. Everything was top notch--no struggling with tough cuts, no bland spots, just pure BBQ greatness. Portions were generous too, especially considering how fair the prices are for the quality. And then... dessert. Babyyyyy, the warm brownie and the carrot cake were everything. Rich, decadent, and the perfect sweet ending to a meal already packed with flavor. The atmosphere sealed the deal. Gotta be honest, I was a little underwhelmed with the meats at Jack Stack compared to others around we've tried. The ribs did not lack in tenderness, but they did lack in flavor without the sauce. This is an essential BBQ restaurant in the area. And by essential, I mean if you like BBQ, and you are in the area, then it is essential that you stop here. It is a solid entry in the KC BBQ landscape (jack stack is overall in the top 5), with an upscale cloth napkin feel. Sure, you might get a little full on the stack of thick onion rings, or giant fried mushrooms. But you will find space for their delicious BBQ meats! Two types of sauce (regular or spicy) are available in little ramekins at the table, and plenty more on request. I prefer the spicy, myself. The service is attentive and friendly. Jack Stack is one of the top bbq spots in KC. They are consistent in their food and service. On my last visit, I ordered online. It's easy and quick. When you arrive, you can pull into a designated spot, use the text they send to let them know you've arrived and what spot you're in and they'll bring it right out. I pretty much order the exact same thing every time I go. The fried mushrooms are a must. They're big and served with a horseradish sauce. They have different size options-3,6, or 9. I almost always order the jumbo sandwich with brisket and sausage. It's about a half pound of meat and it comes with a side. This ends up being about two meals for me. The brisket is good, not the best in KC but it's still up there. The sausage is sliced thin, which I like because it makes it easier to eat. You can get whatever meat you'd like and they do have other options. The side is a large one of your choice but I like to sub it out for two smaller sides. I'm super picky about bbq beans and theirs are my fa favorite so I have to get those. I'm also a fan of the cheesy corn so that's a must too. They have multiple locations and the interior is always nice and clean with great service. read more

I was the guest of honor at a dinner there on a Wednesday after 6pm. The restaurant was full and busy. I recommend making a reservation if you don't want to wait to be seated. We had a reservation. The wait staff and hosts and hostesses are phenomenal and professional. The food was soooooo good. I'm a big bbq fan so it was up my alley. We ordered for appetizers onion rings and fried mushrooms and the wings. All were delicious and fresh and hot. I am not going to lie, I got full eating one fried mushroom, one wing drummette and two onion rings. There was also bbq sauce and a horseradish dip. For my entree I got the lamb ribs cheesy corn and the baked beans. I was full I had to take a doggy bag. The lamb ribs are meaty and not super fatty or greasy to me. I never had cheese corn before but it was good. The baked beans were delicious. Of course I ate like two meals out of my doggy bag (leftovers). The Brisket and Burnet Ends are so good it's enough for me to give them 5 stars.
