I'm new to the area and came for breakfast about 10 a.m. on a Saturday and the place was packed but sitting was plentiful. **A note that they may seat more than 1 party at the long tables and it's CASH ONLY** I'm not crazy about goat but the barbacoa combined with the spiced Pancita tasted VERY GOOD! It stayed hot inside the warmer they place on the table. The corn tortillas are homemade and fresh, and the Menudo was tasty (no hominy though). The aguas de Jamaica and Horchata were also good. Total was about $54 for the meal... a little steep but worth the experience!! Service was friendly and quick. We were surprised as we were checking out, we were given some FREE food to-go... It was piping hot. We discovered when we got home that they had given us a free Spicy Chicken leg quarter with Cactus and the Consomme. They wrapped the chicken very tightly with foil and it was still hot when we got home. I'm someone who likes to eat the cartilage off the chicken bones and this must have been cooked REALLY long because i could bite through the bones straight to the maroon marrow!! Definitely ordering that next time we dine in! We plan to take more family in for the experience. They also use fresh cactus (nopales) and not canned. read more

Excellent food and service. I've never seen so many people at a restaurant at once. We had to wait for a table but they processed everything very fast. So i came for the first time , tried the barbacoa. The food was alright. Apparently the food comes with no tortillas. Before we ordered i asked couple questions, what does the barbacoa comes with, the waitress that was attending us answered that the food came with salsa, cilantro, onions, lemons and of course with tortillas. We ate and got the bill. They charged us the tortillas. I personally don't mind paying for anything But it gets me greatly upset that the cashier was not nice at all, First she questioned me as if i was wrong! Then the cashiers asked in front of me to the waitress is she had explained about the extra cost of the tortillas; the waitress responded - yes! The cashier then added as if it wasn't enough, "we never had this problem before" like if paying for the tortillas was too much money for me to pay. I suppose this isn't enough for me to add too: 1)The way to the restroom was blocked with beer cases, 2)The hvac was not working and it was cold in there the thermostat was blank, (2/18/20) 3) when i asked for my bill, the waitress responded instantly "cash only" i literally had no cash. Hate to say this but, I'm not buying overpriced dry BARBACOA from this place ever again.. Yeah, their servers are nice and what not, but their BARBACOA was dry and had no flavor. This is such a great place to eat authentic birria! My family and I have been going here since I was a kid. This place is family owned and the owner cares about his food and the service the restaurant provides to the customers. I have had the consomé, which is a broth with chickpeas. I love to top it off with chopped cilantro and onion that is served as a complimentary. Another favorite of mine is of course the barbacoa! You can get it by the kilo and it come with hot fresh tortillas. You can make your own little tacos and eat as many as you want. The place is your typical hole in the wall. Good food, good people, just not the niceties your would expect elsewhere. It has really good barbacoa, hard to find in the city. Their sopes, gorditas and tortillas are hand made and taste great. You may be the only English speaking patron there but if you don't mind, they definitely don't. I loved coming here but our waiter today was horrible we were told to go sit didn't even tell us were exactly and then our waiter literally took 20 mins to even take our orders ! She didn't bring any of the drinks till after our food was out and didn't bother bringing tortillas ! Definitely don't recommend ! Worst barbacoa ever. Overpriced, dry, flavorless, full of bones, and cold. We only went there because Monterrey was closed. Even the tortillas were bad! We bought 2 pounds for 5 of us and we ended up with a pound and 1/2 leftover because no one liked it. Won't be returning. read more
