Cuquitas is the best authentic Mexican restaurant I've been to in Dallas for sure. Has that homie feel! The staff is always very friendly no matter what location you go to. When we went I ordered the barbacoa tacos. Very tastey just wish they would come with cilantro and onions like they originally do. They came with a side of pico and shredded lettuce instead. Their rice and beans are good. I think their downfall is their drink selection. They don't offer fountain drinks and that's a turn off especially when they charge $3.25 for a can of soda ! I will start by saying that this restaurant used to be one of my very favorite restaurants to go to. I was excited to go with my mom and kids. We ordered breakfast and the eggs came out burnt and dry. The meat and my tacos smelled old and musty. I returned my dish because I was afraid it would make me sick. My kids are not picky eaters but they barely liked anything. The tortillas were plastic-ish and not fresh at all. It was a Sunday morning that we went to visit. I drove all the way from Richardson and got there 15 minutes before the restaurant was allegedly supposed to close which is at "9:00 PM". I get there and say I would like a table for 4 and the lady says "we are closed" I then say "On the website it says it closes at 9 not 8:48". She then proceeds to say that the kitchen closes at 8:45, it's very annoying how i drove 30 minutes thinking i would be able to have dinner but turns out the kitchen closes early. Definitely should say closes at 8:45 on the website because there is no longer food to be served. read more

I came here for lunch and it was so good. They give you chips with 2 salsas. They serve breakfast all day! What a plus! I got the chilaquiles with chorizo. It was delicious. Cuquita's was recommended by my dentist's assistant. She loved the homemade tortillas, served hot, with butter. I am all about fresh tortillas and I wasn't disappointed. The place has a nice fit and finish, which catacombs into smaller dining areas. You'll find tables, booths, and a few tall tables. This makes for a more intimate dining experience. My server was efficient. She didn't forget a thing. As seems to be the way of our covid, insane era, the staff has to work really hard to keep up with business. With that being said, our server was keeping up with the best of them. My chili relleno was delicious--nothing fancy, I had beef, which translates to burger meat. While that may not go down as the greatest filling ever, the seasoning made it quite tasty. The thing that may throw some Texans off is the menu is Mexican, not Tex-Mex. If you're expecting all the gravy and sauces that Tex-Mex is famous for, you might be disappointed. As I grew up on Mexican food it was right down the middle of my wheelhouse. YMMV (your mileage may vary). It is a good meal. The tortillas send it up a notch. I'd say that this is a place that you'll have to give a shot. If I could give them zero stars I would! I had the worst experience at the worst time! I was trying to celebrate my daughter's birthday with family, we were a group of 25. Believe me I did everything in my part to make sure things went smooth on that Friday afternoon. I had called early that week to make sure they could accommodate a big party and would not be caught off guard. I even received a call back from them a few days before the celebration to confirm my party was still in place. We confirmed! We all show up at 7pm and were asked to wait, 20 minutes go by and no update. We approached Anna (the hostess) and she was busy on her social media. We asked what is happening and she said they are trying to get the tables ready. 20 more minutes go by and still no update from them so again we approach Anna to see what is the hold up. She said nobody told them that there was a reservation and they normally do not do reservations. We asked to speak to the manger and she said there is no manager! We asked who can we speak to and she pointed to another girl that was just standing and looking/hearing everything happen and never bothered to intervened! At this point I'm fed up and my whole party is just waiting to see what is happening. Needless to say I effin pissed BUT I maintained my cool and make a call to another restaurant (15 minutes away). Luckily Rosi's Cafe in garland picked up Cuquita's slack and made my event go smooth. Cuquita's is the worst place to go to! Horrible customer service! Little young girls with no respect whatsoever, those girls need to be trained in customer service if they want their restaurants to succeed. Don't spend your hard earned money on a place that will give you horrible customer service! Took my $900 elsewhere and spend it at Rosi's Cafe where they definitely exceeded expectations! HORRIBLE service by the hostess Anne! Just plain rude! I've been going to Cuquitas since they were on Henderson in Dallas! Hostess had no urgency to seat a party of 25 on a Friday evening. Preferred to be chatting with other co- workers in the front and browsing her social media. I keep calling to leave a formal complaint with the owners and I never get a call back. VERY DISAPPOINTED! We stopped at this restaurant on our way from Tampa to Las Vegas. We ordered takeout because we had the dogs with us. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. It was only two of us that dined and the waitress charged us gratuity. Friday night family dinner success! We were seated promptly and attended to quickly to as well. The place was cute and cozy with Mexican decor. Friday night and it was PACKED! They give you this homemade salsa (green and red) both were great and not too spicy with chips. We ordered the flautas plate-9 bucks, brisket taco plate-9 Bucks, and pozole -I think around same. They all came with rice and beans besides the pozole. The food was authentic and yummy! My pina colada was delish but didn't seem strong enough? Happy hour was from 4-7 but margaritas only. The mariachi band was playing and walking around to see who wanted them to play next. My kids loved hearing them play.
