An amazing experience at Tosca, that my family is still talking about. I really appreciate how all staff were toward making it a great experience for my son- it was his birthday. Food was great, we opted for al la carte steaks, and went with side orders of the house made pasta. We rounded that out with the fried burrata. Maria, their in house pastry chef took care of my son's birthday cake, and it was epic! Great spot, that went over the top to make sure we had a great experience. We are regulars at Tuscan, and it is very difficult to get 5.0 from this steak snob, but last night was outstanding. They have this new Steak Prime Select menu and the Wagu I had last night revailed Capital Grill & Moo. Started with Fried Green Tomatos ... Nice a 3.9-4.0 Garlic mashed potatoes 3.9 and yes the America Wagu ( Sirloin strip sliced med.rare) a 5.0. Service at this restaurant is excellent, last Cheryl, great... Everyone in Hingham told us about this place, and for good reason! Everything we ordered was incredible. I loved the lemon and ricotta ravioli and complimentary breads. We also ordered the donuts for dessert and they were good but not quite as good as the after dinner mint or cherry cake desserts looked. Went last night and had a fantastic experience. Service was impeccable, and the food was exceptional. Started off with the green crab which was phenomenal. My wife got the Swordfish and loved it. Such a bright and fresh preparation, delicious and I don't typically like swordfish. I got the lamb and my gosh was it outstanding. Came here for a rehearsal dinner that was hosted in the back room of the restaurant. All of the food was absolutely delicious with my favorite being all of the pasta as well as the chicken Milanese. We came on a Thursday night and it seemed to be a pretty busy spot so I would recommend getting a reservation. The interior is super cute and seemed like a great spot for a date or a fun group dinner. The service in the event space was also really good, so would definitely recommend it for that as well! read more

We picked Tosca to celebrate an anniversary and it exceeded all expectations. We reserved a table for 7:30 on a Friday night and were seated in the middle of the dining room quickly after walking in. The dining room is expansive and open, with views of the kitchen, brick walls and large wooden beams running across the ceiling; it was a cozy place to be during the night. Our server came over to us a few minutes after being seated and brought over a basket of bread and olive oil with mased chickpeas which was devoured within minutes. We decided on the 'Box of Shrimp' appetizer and I ordered a ribeye special and my partner ordered a lobster pasta special. The appetizer was fried shrimp and fried vegetables on a skewer, and came it came on a bed of arugula with a addicting tartar sauce. Our entrees arrived just after we finished the appetizer and the ribeye was cooked perfectly and was covered in a demi-glace that complimented the meat well. The roasted carrots and mushrooms on top of the steak were delicious and there was also a fried potato pancake. The lobster spaghetti had large chunks of lobster, with a buttery and slightly acid sauce, and the texture of the house-made pasta was great. I know I am a bit of a food snob as I spent most of my life in a professional kitchen. That is why most of the time I am very disappointed in the food I eat out. Well,last night I was beyond disappointed. I was mortified by my dish!! I went with a classic with a twist, Scallop Scampi a basic dish ! I was expecting a beautiful summer bounty filled with fresh herbs,lemons,capers and plumb, juicy scallops on a bed of thin spaghetti. What was placed in front of me was a brown soupy mess that I am still not sure what it was. Two over cooked chopped scallops, no fresh herbs and not a taste of garlic or lemon, or butter or white wine. This is a basic for all that call themselves professional chefs. Very sad. On a recent super-hot and steamy Sunday, we took visiting friends from 'interior Pennsylvania' to Plymouth for a Whale Watch. In other words, despite living in Eastern Massachusetts for more than ten years and being a frequent visitor to Cape Cod for more years than that myself, it entirely slipped my mind that the traffic back to Metro-West from Plymouth on a late Sunday afternoon was going to be, well, not good. So, we decided to follow a shore route north and (consulting Yelp, of course) look for a good dinner stop along the way. That stop was Tosca, which I had bookmarked on Yelp either because someone recommended it or because I had read something favorable about it. Once we were in the door and smelled all the great smells from the open kitchen and saw the very comfortable setting with upscale decor and white tablecloths, we already knew it was a great decision. Our party included a mix of seafood lovers and seafood 'no thanks,' and Tosca has something for everyone. Drinks: Tosca has a very cool craft cocktail menu. Our group ordered a BEE'S KNEES (Four Corners American Gin, Citrus Honey Syrup, Fresh Lemon Juice), a CABANA BOY (44 North Nectarine Vodka, Cointreau, White Cranberry Juice), and a PIGGY BACK SOUR (Whistle Pig 6yr Rye, Simple, Fresh Lemon Juice, Egg Whites, Muddled Peaches). The fourth person found the perfect beer. As a side note, I ordered the Piggy Back Sour. I hardly ever order house-special cocktails. I usually find them too sweet, and I like my Manhattans and Martinis. But this drink sounded appealing because I like peaches very much, so I asked the waiter to ask the bartender to go very easy on the simple syrup. They did, and I loved it! I had two. Appetizers: For the seafood lovers, we had a dozen local (Duxbury) oysters. For the other folks, we ordered the fried green beans special. Everyone enjoyed their appetizer very, very much. Entrees: The meat lover among us had the VEAL SIRLOIN PARMIGIANO | $39 (Fired in the Wood Oven, Tomato Sauce, Sliced Munster & Mozzarella & Roasted Broccoli). The pasta lover had one of the specials: Mushroom Ravioli (it's not on their website menu, so I can't tell you more about this one). The first seafood lovers had the FENNEL CRUSTED SEA SCALLOPS| $41 (Avocado Puree, Spring Vegetable Medley, Confit Tomato, Toasted Chorizo). However, while the dish included fennel, the scallops had no crust, which suited her just fine. I'm also a seafood lover, and I had the PAN-SEARED ATLANTIC COD | $39 (Leek & Spring Pea Risotto, Caper Lemon Sauce, Frisee Salad). Once again, everyone LOVED their dishes! Dessert: Just kidding. We were considering Tosca for the rehearsal dinner the night before my son's wedding in December at Red Lion. So we decided to go there for dinner with my son and his fiancée and sample some of the dishes offered in the package. It was an awesome experience. We ate in the same wine room where we would rent it out for our 33 people and have it to ourselves for the rehearsal dinner. It's a beautiful room with a private bar. Everything we tasted was great from the first bite and we shared all the dishes... so we could try everything. We started with the entrée size Lemon Ricotta Raviolis, which were delicious. Also had Chicken "under a brick", Wild Boar Bolognese, Angus Sirloin Medallions and Veal Sirloin Parmigiano. We got to meet Pat, the GM, and everything tasted so good, and the service was great, so we knew this was the place for us. We are so looking forward to a great meal and event. Can't wait! read more

The bread comes with a bean oil dip which we devoured. For our meals we got two specials. I got the lobster tortellini & my partner got the veal chop with gnocchi and Brussel sprouts. Wow wow wow! First time here and everything was exceptional!! Lovely kind and fun and accommodating server Steven/Stephen really made our night and the food was perfect. Burrata tortellini was unreal and everything was plated beautifully. Last evening we enjoyed an outdoor dining experience at Tosca's Cafe where Noah was our waiter. Throughout the meal he was exceptionally attentive to our needs while offering recommendations from the menu and wine list. When I asked about the Sauvignon Blanc selection he advised of the New Zealand and France varieties with a nod to the NZ option; he was spot on! Later in the evening when I requested another glass, Noah returned to the table with two glasses: one containing the remaining NZ stock (1/4 glassful) and one containing the French stock (3/4 glassful). Tosca is literally the best higher end restaurant on the South Shore. Nobody comes close. I have been coming here for 24 years and the food and service are always excellent. Great pizza, steaks, salads, pasta, specials, appetizers, drinks etc.. It is on the pricey side but worth it. Ask for Tim the waiter if you make a reservation. He is great. We've lived in the area for over 20 years, but have never been to either Tosca or Cafe Tosca. We actually made a reservation for Tosca instead of Cafe by accident as this was just supposed to be a casual night out with the kids, but instead ended up being a $300 dinner. Oof. Great ambiance although it was EXTREMELY loud. Had to read lips all night. It was that loud (it was a Fri night). Food was great. Had the calamari, steaks, and scallops. Service was slower, most likely because it was so busy, but waitress was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back, most likely for a special night out, and eat a little earlier in the evening, when it was hopefully less busy and quieter. read more

Tosca has always been a favorite of mine and my families! There were a lot of celebrations that were held here, including my wedding shower:). But, this was the first time we celebrated Thanksgiving dinner here and it was lovely. We made sure to have reservations ahead of time and so glad that we did. The restaurant was completely filled when we arrived. We did wait a few minutes or so for our table to be ready. What I love about this restaurant is the ambiance. It really is a beautiful place to dine. It was just the 3 of us that day which was nice and small. Our server Cheryl was great! We started off with a few drinks: I had a Prosecco Rose, my Mom enjoyed a glass of Italian white Gave Di Gavi and my husband had their Cab Franc. We started off with a few appetizers ranging from their butternut squash soup to a roasted Brussel sprout salad..all of them were fantastic. And, for our entrees of course we ordered their Turkey dinners..they were also delicious and even better as leftovers the next day. We finished the day with some scrumptious desserts. Tosca is located on North Street in Hingham and the area is quite beautiful with a few other restaurants and some swanky shops including an awesome wine store. If you are ever in this area or want to take a trek to Hingham for a nice and romantic dinner, be sure to choose Tosca as your place to wine and dine. Parting is such sweet sorrow...time to find a new favorite place to dine. This is the third time we've had an unfavorable meal here in the past year. I used to love coming here....and now, it's on my scratch list. ~ the portions have gotten smaller, the prices have risen,...and sadly , the quality of my meal has plummeted. But the highlight of the evening was the Handmade Goat Cheese Tortellini. Roasted butternut squash,toasted hazelnuts,wilted kale, and brown butter sauce - omg ! One of the best dishes I can remember. Not cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for. Amazing service and the best food imaginable. They do take reservations and I would strongly suggest you making them. More of an adult place and I wouldn't suggest taking small children for dinner unless they are extremely well behaved. Bar opens at 4pm. Closed on Mondays. Private event area for events. So came up here a weekend in July to see LRoth's family. We ended up coming here one night for a dinner. The locale is nice. Interior was quite spacious. Warmly lit. We ended up trying a few appetizers that were fresh for the summer. I ended up getting a special of Colorado lamb rack ribs. These were beautifully cooked to a medium/medium rare. Amazing flavor without overwhelming gaminess. It came with a mint jelly that added a nice sweetness with mintiness. Tried some of the bolognese. I wish it had a little more meat but flavor was there. It honestly doesn't even matter what you order, you can try the specials or the new items on the menu or the classics, you will always leave impressed and satisfied. This is a beautifully crafted menu and each entree is made with tender love and care and finesse. The ingredients are clearly extremely high-quality and the food is prepared expertly and always cooked to the right temperature and density. We left so happy after trying the brick chicken the other night. Like holy smokes. Portions are huge and worth the $$. You're truly do that when you pay for. Also the help is extremely professional and efficient and attentive. They hire really good people here. This is where you should aspire to work if you're in the service industry.
