So it appears Suffield does not dissapoint after all. Tosca to the rescue. Great environment. Nice bar. Overly friendly patrons and staff. Welcoming. Great quality food. Priced accordingly for an upoer scale bistro. But not over the top by any means. I started with my usual apertif, a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. Homemade bread with a roasted pepper and tomato tapenade. 1/2 dozen Raw Oysters so fresh they were dripping salt water from being taken this morning. Followed by polenta crusted fried oysters in a dijonaise sauce and finished with a beef carpaccio with fresh peppery arugula. All washed down with a belle glos pinot noir. Light dinner. The atmosphere was very nice, and the staff were all friendly. Our waiter was especially attentive, which made the service enjoyable. The food we ordered was good overall, and the drinks were delicious. The only downside was the calamari, which wasn't great--but the waiter kindly took it off the bill. I am ASHAMED of myself for living so close and taking so long to check this place out. The chefs have a lot of pride in their craft, which is evident in quality ingredients. Many components are made in house! My suggestion is to check out the specials board-- twice i have ordered dishes off the specials board and been blown away. On this occasion, I had the grilled swordfish-- absolutely perfect (when everyone at the table is jealous, you know you picked a winner). This is a total gem in town. Service is excellent, bartender makes great drinks and the space is excellent for date night. Highly recommend! read more

Warm bread, lovely drinks, tenderloin cooked to perfection, chef was flexible with a few diet accommodations... garlic shrimp was best scampi ever... and the dessert... chocolate souffle was a gift from the gods. Our Anniversary Dinner -- A Complete Disappointment What was supposed to be a special evening turned into a major disappointment. While enjoying what started as a delicious Bolognese, I suddenly bit down on a metal bolt or rivet that had somehow made its way into my meal. I immediately called our server, Matthew, over and showed him the object, saying, "We've got a problem." His only reply was, "Yes, we have a problem." After that, he did his best to avoid our table for the rest of the evening. He only acknowledged and apologized for the incident when he presented the check. Although the restaurant did comp my Bolognese, no one from management ever came by to check on me or to apologize for serving food with a metal object in it. When we asked the server if he had reported it, he said he informed the chef and gave him the object -- yet we heard nothing further. The lack of concern and accountability from management is unacceptable. Finding a bolt in your food is a serious safety issue, and the indifference shown made it even worse. Unfortunately, this experience makes it clear that food safety and customer care are not priorities here. Eat here at your own risk. read more

I'm not a huge pork fan because I don't like barbecue sauce but this is not your bbq pork chop, it's marinated overnight and cooked medium and ughh..perfection! We had a really amazing experience. Good, friendly service. Outdoor seating. Indoor would have been nice as well, based on what we saw, quaint dimly lit classic restaurant environment. Mushroom, eggplant, cod chowder are all stellar, with the chowder being my favorite, a lighter broth lets you taste more of the fish. We split squid ink stained seafood pasta, the pasta perfectly cooked. Nice scallops, shrimp and squid. Oh, and the cocktails are very good, with a good selection of wines. read more

I made a yelp account to write this review this was such an upsetting experience. We had a 7:00 PM reservation and still waited over 30 minutes with no update whatsoever from the staff. We were asked once if we wanted a drink, but beyond that, we were completely ignored. No explanation, no status on our table, did not get a basic apology until after waiting 20 minutes. If you're going to take reservations, the least you can do is acknowledge your guests and keep them informed. The whole experience felt disorganized and disrespectful. Absolutely unacceptable service. We have been coming here for years, but this was the last time. As a resident and minority, we expect more from a minority owned business. read more

Very nice restaurant for that special dinner. You'll find some special dishes here that you don't see everywhere. My wife enjoyed the scallops over couscous, and I had the Cajun pasta and both were excellent! Make sure you save room for dessert because the crème brûlée is special, and the maple bourbon, pear with meringue is out of this world. read more

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Tosca in Suffield. Despite having a reservation for weeks, we (party of 4) arrived just nine minutes late due to road closures and detours caused by a storm. Upon arrival, we were informed that no inside tables were available but were offered outdoor seating instead. We agreed to this arrangement, only to be told shortly after that the waitstaff and kitchen were too busy and needed a break, meaning we would face a very long wait and ultimately couldn't be seated outside either. We asked if we could simply wait at the table, but were told there would be no server to attend to us. When I requested to speak to a manager, I was informed that the manager/owner was also the chef and was unavailable. After driving 45 minutes to try this restaurant, we were left without being seated, despite having a reservation. We had to scramble to find another restaurant in the area for dinner. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend Tosca to anyone. read more

Bottom line on top: Very inconsistent experience. Delicious vs borderline disgusting at the same meal. We made early evening reservations but after the walk-ins before us got a great table for two in the corner, we were seated at a table with another couple on one side, the relatively noisy bar on the the other and the kitchen on the third. We ordered the fried oyster appetizer which was not edible. They were extremely oily. We only ate one each and surprisingly the waitress did not ask us why we sent away the remaining three. Neither of us enjoyed the muffin-like bread that came with a pretty good tomato spread, but I could see how others might like it. The entrees were good. My dining partner got the short rib gnocchi and as other reviewers mention, there is more beef than gnocchi (I don't see that as a bad thing necessarily, though my dining partner would have liked more of a balance). I got the orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe, which I enjoyed. read more

My Aunt, Uncle and 83 year old grandparents came here last night 10/17/2025. The table we sat at was extremely wobbly and everything was falling over. We asked politely to be moved or if they can fix it. The tall server was very rude and condensing. He said he needed a ratchet set to fix it and proceeded to stand there with his arms crossed while watching my 83 year old grandmother on the ground trying to fix it. Once it didn't work he stated "I told you so". We got up and left. I have been here before and love the food but I have never been treated so poorly at a nice establishment like this. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants and frequent during special occasions. The food is absolutely wonderful and they have nice service.

Absolutely amazing every time! As someone who lives for food I can say everything on the menu is amazing 10/10! The service is fast and always friendly. I have gone back 3 times in the past month the food is that good. If you go you absolutely have to get the truffle mac and cheese and make sure to get one for just yourself cause you won't wanna share. If you're looking for a fruity cocktail I recommend the "be here now" definitely become one of my favorites to order. They do offer outside seating, the deck is lovely but inside is also very nice. Dim lighting with red walls a little small but definitely good for a date or romantic dinner. 100% would recommend checking out this spot for your next outing with friends or a partner. read more

We had heard about this place and had always wanted to check it out . Reservation was made and we were shown to a table promptly. The place was pretentious and food was average . My husband got the bolognese and the serving was small meal average . I got a short rib gnocchi and it was ok. I guess I just expected it to be much better than it was . We've always had wonderful meals at Tosca! Friday's dinner didn't disappoint. The crab cake with corn salad and oysters were fresh and delicious. The swordfish special with risotto was cooked to perfection along with the Garlic Scampi! The desserts never disappoint...we always get the flight of cones. We also got the pavlova! I went to Tosca for the first time on Valentine's day and I can't say enough about how great it was. The atmosphere was perfect for my date and I. Our server Kevin was friendly and knowledgeable. He talked my date into ordering something he never would have usually ordered- a special of the night. It was phenomenal. My tenderloin was amazing as well. Kevin was always checking in on us even told us the backstory of the restaurant. We can't wait to return and will definitely hope to have Kevin as our server again as well. read more

Went here for the first time and was overall disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant nor ever return here. Here's why: The bolognese entree pasta was dry and had very limited actual sauce while strangely the gnocchi entree was sparse with actual pasta and instead overloaded with a salty and oily short rib sauce, which I honestly found borderline disgusting. Both entrees I would not recommend. Waitress never brought out an appetizer we had ordered, however conveniently added it to our bill and then acted surprised when we questioned it. However the ultimate reason for the one star review? The table next to us had an elderly lady and her daughter dining for her birthday and also encountered problems with their meal. When they advised the waitress, instead of an apology or offer to rectify her meal, the chef (also the owner I presume?) came out to her table and was short tempered with them and actually belittled them for questioning the preparedness and quality of her dish. It was absolutely appalling to watch and endure an elderly woman celebrating her birthday get talked down to and belittled by management. It was completely inappropriate for the chef/owner to talk down to and disrespect a customer, never mind an elderly senior, for simply questioning and sending back an entree. I wish we had spoken up for them that night and intervened, however now we regret our remaining quiet. We were appalled at what we witnessed and felt genuine sympathy for this adjacent table which left feeling embarrassed and belittled. Based upon the unprofessional actions and interactions of management and the poor quality of our own food, we would absolutely not recommend this restaurant! read more

Hands down the best gourmet food I have ever had. Chef cousins is a talented, artistic professional man who puts so much into his restaurant. The attention to detail in everything . You can tell by the moment to sit down that the servers are very educated and know all the nightly specials. Memorizing them was expressive . A little pricy but worth it in my opinion. We have been multiple times, it's a smaller venue, cozy and a little cramped but the food and service is why we keep coming back. It's amazing. The beef carpaccio is off the hook, and Brussels sprouts Caesar salad is delicious. The bolognese is epic, get it with homemade spaghetti instead of the larger noodles. The salmon is always cooked perfectly. We've had other dishes as well, but these two are our favorites. The desserts are super, they have ice cream cone flights and a "strip" of crème brûlée- (if you know, you know) in addition to the standards. And the bartender is a pro, she makes great drinks and has perfected the expresso martini after dinner cocktail. Solid choice for a romantic night out or family night. Enjoy! read more

It was good... Based on food alone, I'd give it a four. It's definitely above par but not the best I've had with some of the staple dishes. The beef carpaccio was delicious, as were the risotto balls. I got the carbonara, which was good and the ingredients were fresh but it was missing something in the flavor department. My husband got the special which was a grilled halibut, it was not overly impressive. Dessert was the crème brûlée and ice cream flight, both were The vibe was a little weird. It's a small place inside of an office building. When we arrived for our reservation they asked if we would mind sitting in the "Private party" area because they over booked, which sounded fine until they brought us down the hall into another suite which was a room with no windows, an electric fireplace and seating for only two tables. When we walked in there was already another party of four dining alone so it felt like we interrupted their dinner, super awkward and we had to tell the host no thanks we'd like the dining room... it was just a little weird that they were putting us in a closet down the hall. We are here celebrating Father's Day early, however the bread was delivered to our table cold and the garlic beef steak did not have a ounce of seasoning on it. This was very disappointing; however the short rib and gnocchi dish was delicious. The service was exceptional and the ambiance of the restaurant was very fitting for the occasion. However, we will not be returning customers. I would have been remiss if I didn't share my concerns with the restaurant and we were told Chef Kevin would be coming out to address our concerns; however he chose to have the waitress speak for him, by stating he will share the feedback with his staff. This was our second visit to Tosca, and it was amazing both times. This time, we started with the oyster appetizer special and beef carpiccio. Both were perfect. The carpaccio had a very flavorful salad on top with shaved parmesan. We both opted for dinner specials. My husband got the eggplant parm over house made pasta, and I got the ribeye with truffle fries. Dessert was peach cobbler and an ice cream cone flight of house made ice creams. I got this both times we have been here, and all were amazing. The whole meal was delicious. The ice creams were my favorite, and we love that everything is made fresh in-house. Our server, Samantha, was fantastic and was attentive and gave great suggestions. We were very impressed with her description of all the specials off the top of her head. The restaurant is small and cozy and has indoor and outdoor seating. We loved it and will definitely be back. read more

Wow, Tosca, what a place!!! The best and freshest local food I've had in the region by far!!!! Starting with the focaccia bread and sun-dried tomato spread, to the portobello mushroom appetizer, to an amazing brussel sprout salad and Cajun pasta, one thing was better than the next!!! Beyond that the waitstaff was very pleasant and accommodating! They took great care of us and we had an amazing dining experience. Great place for a "special date" and very reasonably priced too!
