Our first stop of the day landed us here at Flores! Place was empty except for take out orders. We were greeted with a super friendly waitress/bar tender. Really good food best steak rice avocado dish I've ever had really good food beautiful restaurant.

I was in town for a rally, so I decided to do a take out order of pupusas from Flores to go with pulled pork I had going at home. Their pupusas are the real deal. Perfectly griddled and piping hot, filled with beans and loroco (you can customize your fillings). These pupusas remind me of the ones I used to eat in Central America and per tradition, come with repollo (cabbage salad) and a red sauce for dipping. Nothing fancy, just done right. They have another location further down Congress Street, but this is the more upscale location. They have a well stocked bar with a very kind staff person who quickly took my order. And were showing Sunday football while I was doing my pick up, so you can catch a game while you're there, too. Definitely a great spot, if a little spendy (but what isn't these days). read more

We took way too long to check this joint out. When you are tired of the swank, walk into this authentic Central American experience. The owner has roots in El Salvador. Yes, it's basic. You'll get flimsy red table shrouds, plastic menus with tiny food thumbnails, and friendly rough-around-the-edges service. The space is large and very welcoming in a typical Latino café way and the music excellent. The food? Ok. But the whole feeling of this place is unique to Portland and much needed to balance out the glitz. Check it out! read more

I've had food from Flores delivered several times and it is always amazing! Last night we stopped in after a show and Flores now has a chokehold on me! The little restaurant is small, but not crowed-and has a great feel. The bartender was so genuinely nice and happy, as well as all the staff! The food is perfection, I always order the same items but really need to try the whole menu. The staff was telling us they have events in the later evenings-karaoke, DJs etc. Go check this place out! read more

I need to give this place another try and I will update the review. I got the enchiladas salvadorenas, not pictured, and they were incredibly good. I liked the empanadas, though it was a crust I was not used to. But I'm assuming it has more to do with my lack of knowledge on the myriad types of empanadas there can be. I was disappointed in the entree though. It was the scantest serving of chicken. Also, a heads up that the pink sauce is just mayo and ketchup. I love mayo and ketchup but I did go in thinking I was going to be trying something new, again this might just be my own lack of knowledge. For us gringos, heads up, but the rest of the salsas I ordered were fresh and tasty. The pink sauce was very good with the double fried plantains, also not pictured. read more

Stopped in here for lunch to sample their menu and was very glad that I did. I ordered the Oxtail Soup, which took a bit longer to prepare, but it was full flavored and nicely seasoned. The service was great. read more

In terms of atmosphere, this place was a TRIP on a Friday night, lol. I'll leave it at that. All the issues we encountered were almost all because of lack of staffing, which everyone is going through. It's easy to see how this would've been a way better experience if they had more people working, so giving the benefit of the doubt on that. There was basically one guy trying to do it all including making drinks. Outside of the wait times, the food was excellent. We were starving by the time we were able to order, so I didn't ask any questions about the menu. I had some fried chicken which was very good as was the rice it came with, but I was immediately envious of my friend's tacos which were on homemade tortillas. Drinks were also good and the prices were right. But GUYS, get a lock for the bathroom. It's a 1-person bathroom with the toilet just sitting there, no stall, and zero lock. Just get one of those bolt ones you can buy at the hardware store for $3-4. We had a plan to have one of us stand outside while the lady in our group used the bathroom, but she decided to hold it. I'd definitely give this place another shot and hope for more staff or try to sit at the bar. Just bring a friend as a bouncer if you need to use the restroom. read more

If you (like me) were looking for a combination of yhe rare chill off-the-beaten path pseudo classy dive bar with great food, and phenomenal vibe, stumble in here now. The tacos were unreal, served surprisingly on handmade tortillas that were some of the best I've ever had. The staff was super friendly with no pretense and everyone was cool. Apparently you can sip fantastic Mezclitas in the afternoon and watch soccer or come for late night Latin dance parties. Kudos to someone doing it right in portland! read more

Wonderful, fresh, delicious- clean and airy, with an incredibly friendly staff. They have a big menu with many, many different options. The food is fresh and totally homemade. This is a hidden gem. It is never a problem getting a seat, and the food and drinks are spectacular. From papusas, El Salvadoran enchiladas to burritos, deep FRIED beef and pork ribs, steak and chicken dinners, tacos and wings this place is awesome. Fresh juice, margaritas, draft beer, homemade salsas and hot sauces- you need to try Flores. It's just lovely. read more

I've been here twice, once to dine in and once to go. The staff has been very nice both times and the food is delicious!!

Service was good. I wish I could say the same about the food. We ordered the fried pork ribs, and the grilled steak. The portion of the pork was barely two bites. I am not exaggerating. The steak (carne asada) was dry and not tender at all. We were in Portland only for one night, and my husband chose the restaurant thinking of me since I am from Argentina and I always love to eat Latin food.
