We contacted this company on their website for an estimate. One of their representatives stopped by the house this morning providing us with an estimate and said they would do the work today during the afternoon. It is now 7 pm and no work was done. No call. No email. No note left at the house. We called the number of the Company and I spoke with Jeff. He said he had no record of anything and no idea why work was not performed. My suggestion. Schell Sealcoating did an excellent job coating our two driveways. It was a bit late in the season to be calling them, but Gerardo, who was great, came out to do an estimate the next day, and though we were a bit far away from their business, they were able to schedule us on a day with a commercial job they were doing in the general area. Their employees arrived on time and did a very thorough job and were really quick in completing both driveways. Earlier we had called two other businesses closer to us. One had finished in our town for the season, but was very nice and suggested calling in the spring. The other, in Wheeling, seemed to be all about " we don't": we don't take care of any weeds in the cracks, we don't edge or seal coat the edges of the driveway, we don't fill holes, we don't fill or seal up to concrete sideways or steps because it could end up being messy. Of course, it's their business and they can choose what not to do. But they also didn't call back with the estimate they were going to do. So when Gerardo came to do the estimate I asked him if any of those things could be done or which we should do in advance. He said they would take care of everything and they did! Their crew edged both driveways, got rid of the weeds, filled in cracks (as another reviewer mentioned, they were clear that larger cracks would probably still be visible, but they are not raw edged and open, and look so much better), sealed the driveway edges and up to the concrete. And it all looked amazingly neat and professional. And I have to mention again just how fast and efficient they were. Schell Sealcoating really is great! read more

I used Schell Sealcoating again to seal my driveway, as I have done annually for the past 4 years. I found Jeff because he uses an environmentally friendly product instead of coal-tar based products (which are now banned in Winnetka and Madison, WI because it is a carcinogen). As usual his workers arrived on time and did a careful job. Jeff was the first person I found in the area who understood the risks of coal tar products and refused to apply them. read more

Excellent job on our (fairly large) driveway with pavers. Done promptly and with excellence. Took a bit of time to get him out for a quote, but when we did got a quick turn on service and it was excellent. We had another larger vendor do it before and it did not turn out nearly as good (looked patchy, like it was two diff kinds of material almost). This one looks splendid--unlike others, he was a bit higher $400+ vs. $350 for others, but well worth it (again we have a rather large circular drive and extension area). read more

We live in Highland Park and were looking for a company to sealcoat our asphalt driveway. Hadn't been done in a few years and was in severe need of the work. We have an average to somewhat long driveway and pretty wide. Obtained several quotes, and Jeff at Schell Sealcoating was very reasonable and even said it probably would be less next time around since he expected it needed more coating this time due to it not being done in many years. We arranged for it to be done while we were out of town for the weekend and were very happy with the results when we returned. No spillage onto the lawn or landscaping and looked great. They also provide snow removal and we're looking at them for that service for this coming winter as well after such a good experience with the driveway. read more

I used Schell Sealcoating first in 2008 when I bought my house. I called around and got 4 quotes: theirs was second to the lowest. My driveway had been sorely neglected by the previous owner. I just used Schell in Sept (2016) and they had the lowest quote and did a much better job than the seal coating service that I used last year. Their black top sealing material must be better because it not only filled in the small cracks in my driveway but it also hid them from view.
