We had a really fun experience for my husband's birthday weekend. The whole thing lasted about two hours. We got to fly a hawk named Logan in a large group circle. And we also had a chance to fly with a falcon along the cliffs, watching it catch beatles. The handlers were all very nice and knowledgeable. They taught us about the natural habitat and the lifespan on these raptors. How to keep them safe in the wild, etc. During our experience with Logan, he even got chased off by a wild falcon and the handler had to go track him down using the satellite GPS. It was overall a cool experience. I highly recommend it for something special and unique to do.

I love the atmosphere! It was outdoors and I got to see 3 super cool owls! The guide was super respectful, interactive and fun to be around! I was really happy I got to learn more about the owls and got to hold two! I would love to come back and seem them!

Amazing experience! We were almost 40 minutes late to our reservation due to heavy traffic, but Antonella was very patient and understanding. The experience itself was wonderful. Our falcon (Bunco) was stunningly gorgeous and the views were beyond breathtaking. Antonella is very passionate about her birds and takes very good care of them. I highly recommend this experience for those who have not tried it.

This was an awesome experience. We had a group of four. Learning about the capabilities of hawks and falcons was fascinating. The falconers were very knowledgable with years of experience. And of course, the opportunity to have a falcon resting on your gloved arm was amazing. They are such beautiful creatures! You will get the opportunity to to have them fly from you to your friends in the group. Lots of great photos opportunities too. We can't recommend this experience enough.

Didn't know what to expect when my daughter's Christmas gift was a father-and-daughter falconry experience. Total Raptor eXperience was so amazing and we had such a wonderful shared experience together. The instructor were knowledgeable, friendly, and caring for the birds and the environment. The Falcons and hawks were so beautiful, magnificent, and well trained. We really enjoyed the beautiful scenery and experience. It was better than my yearly tennis shoe gifts.

We signed up for this raptor experience last minute without researching it and went into it without having any expectations. What an amazing afternoon this way! Andrea, Antonella, and Dave are super knowledgeable and passionate about these amazing birds. It was an interactive experience (meaning the birds will land on your gloved arm) and just overall such an awe inspiring afternoon. Would definitely recommend doing this and if we are ever back in the area, we would most certainly do this again. Andrea, Antonella, and Dave- thank you SO much for letting us be part of your raptors' afternoon!

So much more than I expected, it was the perfect experience to celebrate a combined birthday and Mother Day. I suggest showing up a little early to grab a coffee and watch the paragliders take off and fly around. We got to learn about each bird, have them fly back and forth from your glove and watch the falcon fly over the cliffs. Everyone was so nice and knowledgeable, they answered all of our questions and made sure everyone had a great time. I highly recommend booking your own visit.

My wife took my here for my birthday and it was awesome! The teachers were informative, kind and they really wanted everyone to learn something, to have fun and to get a selfie with the birds if that's what the guests wanted. Getting there was super easy as was the parking and the parking was free! The views overlooking the ocean were incredible! My wife and I highly recommend this experience!

The classes Introduction to Falconry & Falcon Flight blew my mind and exceeded all my expectations!!! There is literally nothing like having a falcon/&/hawk fly straight to you and stare into your eyes. Seriously remarkable how well behaved these powerful birds are by choice. Terry's story telling was captivating - the passion and knowledge she has from dedicating her life to this is contagious. Terry, Antonella & Dave gave me a new found love for these birds and how I can make changes in my life to keep them safe. These classes are worth every penny. I highly recommend taking advantage of this safe once in a lifetime experience. I was a little scared going in but as soon as I was there it is so organized and the trainers put any butterflies to eases so I was able to really step into the moment and absorb every ounce of it.

My wife and I had an amazing time with Andrea and David. My wife got this as a birthday present and we really enjoyed the whole event (about 2 hours). We are fellow bird lovers and were very happy to see that they treated their birds very kindly - didn't force them to do anything and let the birds have fun. Both staff members were extremely patient, answered all of our questions, and were very enthusiastic about what they do. Definitely recommend this! Don't forget sun protection!

Oh man!!! This was a surprise adventure for my birthday and it did not disappoint!! It was incredible. We met Dave the falconer and his lovely Lanner Falcon Sophi. They were both so generous with their skills. We brought our three young daughters and Dave was so patient with my sweet six year old who chatted his ear off. He answered our many questions and managed this stunning wild animal and us complete novices with such care. Also, Dave accommodated our scheduling faux pas and moved our lesson to a different time at the last minute. Between the glory of the cliffs at Torrey Pines (overlooking the ocean!!), interacting with a beautiful specimen of Mother Nature, and having a knowledgeable and generous guide to experience it with, we were enchanted. Do yourself a favor and book this!

We did the 2 person kayak and originally booked through TripAdvisor but next time, we'll book directly through them after realizing they're a local company. It was around $100 for our 2 person kayak which seemed reasonable for a quick day date. Make sure you're 30 minutes before your booking time so you can check in and get supplies for your activity. For kayaking, it was a 90 min event and it's helpful to wear a swimsuit since you'll get wet and have a chance to swim. They took us through parts by the coast and we got to see lots of different fish and sea lions. Tip; make sure to bring water proof, floating bag for your phone since lockers can be $6 and I wish we would have brought our GoPro for the underwater views. The tour guides Thomas and Spencer were knowledgeable and helpful. We had a few guys who were in our tour that kept going overboard and the guides were patient with them even as the guys got a little annoying with their kayak intentionally tipping a few times. Overall, I'm really glad we went and will be back for other activities with friends and family.

The reservation process was easy, and we signed a waiver prior to coming to the shop. The guys at the shop were super friendly and got us oriented to the water quickly. We had a 10:15 am reservation and they were not busy at that time. My only small gripe is that I wish their website had more information about what to wear to go kayaking. They had wetsuits for rent and waterproof pouches for sale, but my friend and I made do with what we wore, and we were ok. This may be very obvious to people who kayak, but for newcomers like me, you need to walk into the ocean to get into your kayak, so you will at minimum get wet from the waist down. You get your life jackets at the shop, then walk a block down to the ocean where there are more employees that get you set up with the kayak. The worker at the beach reinforced what the guys at the shop told us, pointing out lifeguards and landmarks in the water, before showing us how to paddle. Once we were ready, he dragged our kayak out into the surf and held it steady as we climbed in. With a strong shove, we were off! Our rental was for 1.5 hours and we had a really good time! Despite never kayaking before, we quickly figured out how to paddle and steer, and even as two girls with noodle arms, there was less resistance than expected. We thought we would end before our scheduled time was up, but we found ourselves floating and vibing till the last minute. It was really fun being rushed on shore by the waves, and I was sad to get off the kayak. I checked the price online if I were to rent from them directly, and it was about $45 for a double kayak. I wish they would just list their prices directly on their website, instead of requiring us to click in to the reservations page and seeing the price upon checkout. Maybe they do different pricing at different times. Still, I would definitely check for a Groupon or something, and do this activity again.

My son's former teachers are always happy to see him when he goes to visit, which is often. He even gave graduation presents TO some of his teachers before he left. The students are geeky, wacky, nerdy, different, intelligent, unique, confident, and wonderful! My daughter said that she didn't want to go to any other school because she is with "her people" and she is right. Dr. McCurdy said in last year's commencement speech, "If you aren't failing, you aren't learning." What a great place to make mistakes, learn from them, and make improvements. I would say barely 10% of the questions in the state exam exist in the school material. They have the "GUARANTEE PASS OR REFUND" policy, however when I called them and asked for refund, they tried hard to weasel out the liability by saying I don't follow the procedure, didn't get a good score a week before the state exam (although I got multiple 97% within the week of the exam, including one at 12 hours before the exam)... all kinds of excuses, until I can prove I did everything they request, then they agree to refund me.... But the check I got 2 weeks later, ONLY $97.50!! They didn't even refund me the re-exam fee of the state!!! I passed the Law, I guess that's one thing they may have helped... but since I am also Life & Health Insurance License holder, the law part is very similar.... I cannot give them full credit of helping.... So if you wish they can help you pass the exam, you may be disappointed; if you wish they stand on that GUARANTEE PASS OR REFUND policy, you definitely will be disappointed.

Very frustrated and disappointed with this Company/"School"…read moreThe material information isn't just out of date but erroneously false. Out of date would imply to me that it is an oversight in keeping up with the ever evolving NEC. Erroneous suggests intentional, incompetent and uneducated. There are questions on the CSLB Exam that have answers that do not line up with the practice tests questions and answers. ACLC provided an audio CD too, its got its own set of misinformation. When I brought this to Jack's attention he said that the answers are what is on the CSLB exam, just memorize the answers to the questions and dont worry about if they are right or not. This is absolutely frustrating. Am I really suppose to assume the State is not going to care that the answer is accurate? Come on! I could care less about getting a refund, I was comfortable with spending the money and simply want use of the accurate course material. The practice exams are filled with errors such as "GFIC" when it is suppose to be GFCI. Or interchanging "GFIC" with "AFCI" and that they are the same. Again, if it was simply a grammatical mistake or even spelling, I would certainly overlook the shortcomings. I've emailed Jack about 9 times over 3 years and he has responded twice, one of the responses wasnt even to an email I sent. But instead someone elses login info (Geeez talk about lacking security). I've called 4 times to get access to the online material and was given the excuse that they get allot of calls and wont be able to get me access for a few days. The course material (website access to their "University" and printed material, and even the audio Cd) is frustratingly disappointing. Unless ACLC can revamp everything about themselves, I just cant recommend them to anyone, well... other then to recommend to stay as far away as possible. I am honestly worse off from studying this material. I understand this is probably Jack's livelihood but come on, get it together!

The hall is just 15 rows, front to back, 352 seats total with a center section and two side sections divided by aisles. Although most shows - maybe all shows - are general admission, you don't have to worry about being first in line to get a good seat. The sightlines and acoustics are terrific from every seat, even the back corners. Acoustician Cyril Harris worked with two architects to design the hall, and you really don't even need amplification to clearly hear someone on the stage. Being so close to the stage the venue has a very intimate feel. During intermissions there is a large covered, open-air patio, and you can step out into the Institute's courtyard and enjoy the cool "river" fountain and the really great architecture of the surrounding buildings. Another very cool thing about the hall, is that it is available free to any non-profit who would like to use it. Parking is free in a lot next to the hall. As someone else said, the signage is small and hard to see in the dark, so just follow everyone else to the busy end of the lot and down the ramp to find the hall.

I was on the hunt for a ropes course for my sister's bachelorette weekend for MONTHS. I couldn't find one that was 1) in the area 2) in our price range and 3) open on July 4th. Not a single one. And then I received an e-mail that UCSD would open up their challenge course for us...a bunch of ladies (and two gentlemen!) who did not know what we were getting ourselves into for a couple hours on a Saturday morning. We only did the highs-only course that was 50 ft up in the air. This included walking on wires, jumping across platforms, upper body strength, and ziplining...to name a few. I know it's not the typical "bachelorette" extravaganza, but I wanted something thrilling and adventurous that we could all participate in together. That's exactly what this challenge course does; it tests your limits and helps to strengthen collaboration, but most importantly, it's FUN! I, personally, was not frightened by the height or tasks we had to do, but it was definitely exhilarating on another level (no pun intended.) I write this review with a profound gratitude for this company because they exceeded my expectations. THANK YOU for giving us a reasonable price per person (every other company I called was $3000-4000 for a group of 12,) being open just for us on a holiday, and integrating such vibrant personalities to lead us through the course.
