Additionally, I found myself pregnant at age 45 in 2012, (a miracle in itself as I had only recently completed oral chemo for Medullary Thyroid cancer) and the staff went out of there way to ensure a seamless transition from the specialty pain medication I had been on, to an approved medication safe for pregnant women. 14 years is a long time to have a relationship with a healthcare provider, which says a lot about how above and beyond the entire staff go to ensure every patients comfort, safety and overall health. 5+ stars. I do miss a couple former employees that I had established a rapport and friendship with, but the employees that replaced are just as professional, caring and knowledgeable. Fake pee right and the temp was off so as I'm dumping more fake pee into another cup I'm just thinking how can I warm it up but I gave her the fake pee a second time and she checks it temp was no issue but the "mean" receptionist lady only would tme there's errors in my test and it had to go to the lab,mind you now I'm going home no scripts flipping out cus now I've paid for 2 piss tests on top of my appointment and was told "IF' THE LAB test comes back better I'd have to pay for that piss test before getting scripts..so a week later I go in,all expecting to get my scripts because in my mind the worse thing that could be wrong is my "FAKE"PISS DIDN'T HAVE ANY OXY IN IT... MUCH TO MY SURPRISE that mean lady seemed to take pleasure in telling me you can no longer be seen here because you had cocaine in your urine.. I'm there shocked fake pee failed for cocaine, so I figured if I come clean to Dr VELLEFF and let him know it was fake pee because of weed maybe he'd let me give my actual pee but that mean unprofessional receptionist said nope he doesn't want to see you or speak to you here's a paper for circles of care they can detox you as I'm in extreme pain and opiate sick.. so as I find myself on the street level not even believing how much I'm spending on the pills now it came to the point I couldn't pay my bills, then one fateful day someone said to me this $20 bag of H will get you twice as long as a $30 pill.. so I started with A little till the little wouldn't do so the little got more and more, so I stumbled upon straight fentanyl. Which was so wonderful I'd ask brown or white.. I'd only buy the white cus I'd be able to get 4-5 times outta $20.now I'm fully involved with a whole life I never knew existed right in my own neighborhood so it didn't take me long to be shooting it up..one day I'm super sick I can't even get off the bathroom floor so I call one of my new buddys and said stop off at my brotha from another mutha and I'd pay for his 20 for picking us each up one.. so he gets there and I'm sicker then I've ever been crying begging bro can you please fix my rig up and hit my vain I'm too Shakey pukey and totally unable to, the one thing he didn't realize is I wasn't expecting the whole dub in 1 shot he would do a whole dubthen another and another, I mean he saw me do a whole dub of brown multiple times so he just figured I'd need the whole point of fentanyl to get off empty, that was my first experience overdosing. Needless to say all because I felt I needed some weed because Dr VELLEFF took away my Xanax and figured everyone else gets away with using fake pee but noo my luck so had it instead of pissing straight THC in the cup I buy fake pee and failed for cocaine, like seriously cocaine the drug that leaves urine system in 72 hours I mean weed takes 30 days I do believe if that MEAN DISRESPECTFUL RECEPTIONIST WOULD HAVE LET ME EXPLAIN TO DR VELLEFF THE WHOLE TRUTH OF THE MATTER then I'm quite positive he would have discarded the FALSE POSITIVE cocaine test and made me give actual pee from my bladder,INSTEAD I COMPLETELY RUINED MY WHOLE LIFE, I LOST EVERYTHING I EVER HAD, INCLUDING RESPECT FROM FAMILY AND SOCIETY, I ALSO LOST EVERY LICK OF CONFIDENCE,I WENT FROM BEING SOMEONE WELL LOVED AND RESPECTED TO SOMEONE HATED BY ALL CAN'T BUY A LICK OF RESPECT AND I CAN'T EVEN FIND THE CONFIDENCE TO BELIEVE IN FAITH, this has been the hardest thing I've ever had to go thru but I'm still 100% permanently disabled extreme pain has gotten worse with my last overdose which had me in a coma on life support 10 days and in the hospital 6 weeks I'm now paralyzed from knee down in my left leg with extreme pain I am much stronger than that shit tho today is day number 71 off the shit All I get for pain is Subutex anyway that's my experience with the RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, EXTREMELY MEAN RECEPTIONIST WHO OBVIOUSLY AIN'T BEEN LAID IN MANY YEARS, AT LEAST AINT BEEN LAID RIGHT.

Absolutely unprofessional staff. They called to move my appointment but didn't leave an alternate…read moretime. When I expressed my frustration and asked to speak to a supervisor they refused to reschedule or answer my calls. I ended up getting an appointment at 1pm. It apparently that's just when I'll be there and my procedure will by at 2:10 but the staff said that's not even necessarily the case. At the end of the call today I'll have to come at 1pm and got lecturered about not letting my driver leave. They said I could be done anywhere between 2pm and 4pm but that all depends on how things go with my procedure and how I do with anesthesia. I've had this done before and had no issues and was in and out in almost an hour when I did this at the Houston medical center. I hear over and over again this doctor is amazing it's just a shame the office staff is such a nightmare but as you can see from other reviews it just seems to be how this office runs. I almost feel like I should double check my will so fingers crossed I actually leave here without any major medical issues. If you could rate less than 1 star I would. Update*** I was able to speak to the office manager today and she claims my appointment will be closer to the 1pm time but that's not what my appointment reads in their own app. Long story short she essentially considers this not an issue anymore because I have an appointment. She stressed several times that she already took time off during vacation to call me but honestly had the staff not been an issue she wouldn't have had to get involved at all. I did also file an OCR complaint. From what I gathered today this behavior won't be changing and I'll just have to decide if this doctor is really worth all this trouble. Below is what I filed the OCR for the lack of concern this office has when working with disabled veterans. Issue with retaliation from scheduler Penelope when told my appt was not going to be possible in AM. She informed me she had a 1pm appt and I informed her to schedule that and let me speak with supervisor to confirm. She then refused to schedule and told me she'd let the office manager do it. I later found out after reaching out to the providers I see there that the office manager was on vacation. I asked Dr S asst to inform them to schedule me for the 1pm and she again refused. The office manager told me she was on vacation. Penelope had told the office manager I had used profanity which was untrue. On several occasions I noted my disability of anxiety as well as being in Houston to assist my parents with their cancer appointments for Chemo. I was eventually contacted and told they would move my appointment to that day at 2:10 as there was no longer a 1pm appt. I also had to contact the VA about possibly moving my provider as I was concerned about my care at this facility. I believe I was treated inappropriately especially after noting with Penelope my disability status and concerns personally of being in Houston to assist family.

He has handled my back…read morepain for two years in a most competent way, I first had epidurals which didn't work, then a trial for the spinal cord stimulator which seemed to help, then 9 months ago I had it implanted. It has been extremely beneficial for managing my pain. Dr Nguyen is very caring and attentive to my pain and my needs.

My pain is manageable without such an invasive and risky procedure. I've been on the same regimen for a decade yet he reduced my medication by 25%. I went from managed pain but functional to unable to continue working by 3pm. The PA was the one I saw for the next 3 months with no change to my pain, only questions about whether I was ready to have the pain pump. I finally insisted they make an appointment with Fetouh himself. 24 hours later I received an overnight letter discharging me from his care. Went back to my previous Dr who restored my original prescription, problem solved, my ability to function without debilitating pain restored. No compassion, no professionalism, just pure arrogance at this place.
