0 stars if I could. Went along with my boyfriend today because he was purchasing a gift. When he was going to pay they also asked for my ID, which I thought was ridiculous because I was not the one buying it although I'm 22. Just for him, I went and got my wallet and gave the rude lady my ID. I then told my boyfriend I was not coming back there again and the lady started giving me attitude telling me to next time stay in the car. Whenever we travel, Total Wines is our first destination. We love the great selection of wines along with the descriptions and staff picks. We love a good tequila as well and Total Wines never disappoint. Our fellow travellers like beer, so it's nice to get it all at one place-including chips, beer nuts and popcorn. Terrible customer service. I spent an hour in the store with my fiancée finding things for our DIY wedding. After finding all the things we needed (mind you half the stuff we picked out had no alcohol in it) and I'm about to check out spending at least $100, they denied MY purchase because my fiancée doesn't have her ID? (We're in our 30's) So I guess I can't make a purchase when I'm with my 2 y/o daughter because she's not 21 either? I could understand if we were splitting the purchase, but that wasn't the case, and to humiliate us in front of other customers like we're a couple of delinquent teenagers is uncalled for. I've been giving this establishment my money ever since it opened and after today I'm done. That's the last time you waste my time and money. read more

This one in particular is set up extremely organized. Fine selection of beers which I took advantage of with there "build a six pack" option. The wine selection never ceases to disappoint. Staff was very friendly as I asked about a scotch in particular and they helped me right away. Pity it's a drive from my house but will be back in the near future. Everything was going great till I got to the front of the store to purchase my customized 6 pack with a couple other beer bottles that I found eye catching. First the lady didn't ask how I was doing or anything, then surprisingly asked for everyone's ID that I was with in a rude manner and saying that there's no way that I was going to drink all of these beers myself(Only 8 btw). I was shocked, not a people person at all. Unfortunately one of my friends that I was with did not have his wallet on him as he was not planning on purchasing any alcohol, he just wanted to join the ride. And mind you he is 30 years old with a beard, does not look like a kid by any means. I explained to her the situation and she did not want to help me at all forcing me to leave the store at 10 55 (5 minutes before closing)and drive 45 minutes back home after I had rushed to get there. Never going there again! Taking my business elsewhere. Lady in the front was about 5'6 Hispanic-Indian (tan), glasses, 30s early 40s, worked the night shift on that Friday. First of all, the location for this Total Wine is perfect. Right in the middle of Town and Country center, next to the World of Beer and Blue Martini. The place is about the size of a typical Office Max or Staples but it's filled with alcohol. I went with a group of friends after a Miami Heat game win to celebrate and I had no other choice but to stock up! My intentions were to get a bottle of rum but I left with that, a six pack of Lagunitas, six pack of Franziskaner Dunkel, some delicious Russian vodka, a bottle of primitivo, and a Beefeater Gin. The prices are great, friendly staff, clean(new) atmosphere, great location, and practically anything you want! Seriously, they have Shipyard Root Beer Beer and Bakon vodka ;D read more

The wine selection is incredible and they take great care of all fine wines, we feel very confidante buying old vintages of expensive wine knowing they have being well cellared. Went inside with my girlfriend who is 21 & my sister who is 18 and wouldn't let me buy any spirit... then when I decided to not buy any alcohol but SIMPLE SYRUP & CLUB SODA, they still would not let me buy it. Amazing place. Went here because I couldn't find anywhere else that sells ingredients to make spritz. But this place does, even found a person that even knows what it is. Excellent customer service!! We did notice that it's organized a little differently than the one at The Falls but the staff was available at any moment to answer questions. The manager was also fantastic! He gave us samples and walked us through some of his favorites without pushing the most expensive option. That's definitely the way to go! First let me say that I've NEVER had a bad experience here. The staff is always great and seem like they're very into the products they sell. With that being said...on with my review! So thanks to a last minute request (from the missus) for a hard to find bottle of wine, I ran in the door 5 minutes before closing. I HATE being "that guy". The website said my wine was on aisle 16, I didn't see that aisle so I asked where it was. Greg (the manager) walked me to where it was supposed to be. Bad news, empty spot on the shelf. Greg took the time to check their system, check another spot, and eventually found a case in the stock up top. He didn't have to do any of that for me. I'm an assistant GM for a national restaurant group (which is why I hate being "that guy" coming in before closing) and you just don't see or get the level of "my pleasure" or "of course I can help" service down here anymore. I live 20 minutes from here but I refuse to shop at any other location or competitor. They have a pretty kick ass REAL craft and import beer selection too! Thank you for having an awesome store. I am a fan of total wine, usually shop at the one in pinecrest and have shopped here before with out any issues till today. I explained to the cashier that I had several coupons including one from the rewards, she said ok no problem, completes my transaction, put through my coupon for the wine and then goes to put in the rewards one( which I had mentioned to her from the start, hint ask for my phone number), it does not go through, she calls the manager over and he says that the coupon was for wine only total over $50 and that since I had used the 15% that it did not qualify, so I looked at the coupon again and said I did not see that, he said let me look for that disclaimer( it did not exist) he then asked me if I shared my e-mail with anyone because it showed it had been used( and this is a store manager) , finally when he could not figure it out,he says well I will let her figure it out , I am the store manager, do not really know anything about the register.... Seriously unprofessional..... I then say to the cashier, maybe you need to put in my phone number, well since she could not get it to work, I said let me take a couple of items off and use the rewards on a separate transaction, so back comes the manager, removes the wrong item, finally removed the right ones and she takes my number, their appears the coupon, she calls the manager over again, he says oh it's here, to which I said to him , I had told her from the beginning that she needed to put my number in, he just walked away. 10 mins for shopping, as I knew exactly what I want as looking for, store was not crowed, and almost 25mins to check out. I will only be back to this location as a last resource , otherwise I will shop at the pinecrest location, have never had an issue in over 5 years of shopping there.... Total is overall a good store with excellent prices, and if it weren't for the worrisome trend of their continuing to cut back on independent selections in all departments and pushing their own exclusive house brands, they would deserve a higher rating. First the good: Total continues to be a price leader. If it's quantity you're looking for to hold a party, Total will serve you well. As for service, it's somewhat hit or miss. Many floor personnel. Checking out is sometimes problematic, but finding someone on the floor to question is always easy. Now whether they'll have a useful answer is a little more hit and miss. From a conversation I had with one of the associates in this new West Kendall location, Total has hired some associates more because of their overall retail experience than because of any specific knowledge about spirits. From a business point of view, that probably makes sense, to get someone with a sales-first mentality in there and train them up on wine and liquor. But the customer isn't necessarily best served by this approach, at least while these alcohol neophytes are essentially still in training. This is the third South Florida Total I have shopped at, having first encountered the chain in Pembroke Pines three years ago, then the Pinecrest branch which opened later, and now this new Town & Country location. I have seen the store(s) change markedly in that time, and it's not just the difference between branches. The general trend is toward reducing their selection of independent and mainstream brands and increasing the emphasis on their private store brands. I was approached by a sales associate in the dessert wine section, and since she asked if she could help me find anything, I mentioned that a while back I had found a petite sirah port at Total's Pinecrest location. Did this new branch carry it? She said, "The easiest way is to look it up on the computer." Well, no, the easiest way is if you know right off the bat what you carry, but that knowledge is going to take time, especially if your background is general retail rather than wine specifically. So we went to her computer, and she tried to look up petite sirah port, spelling it 'petit syrah' as many people do, though they are actually different grapes. The distinction matters because a computer search that returns syrah won't return sirah. Anyway, she couldn't find any such product, as I prompted her through the spelling. That's fine - not ever store can carry everything. But of course she then tried to sell me one of their house syrahs, which wasn't the point. No harm no foul on the petite sirah port, but you're not even close on the syrah. I browsed some more, picked out a Chimay ale (they carry all three Chimay varieties, in four-pack smalls and in the "large formats," and all are at excellent prices - around $17 for the four-packs), and then made my way to the Scotch & Irish row. Here I was surprised to find how much of the Scotch shelf space was taken up by a couple of malts I had never heard of before, Shieldaig and The Grangestone, in several ages. The prices seemed very low for 18 year-old single malts. Quite a few shelves at eye level were all Grangestone or Shieldaig. I later confirmed through a search that these are house brands of Total Wine. I have not sampled either one, so I'll leave it up to you to research what people say about those house Scotches online (it's a mixed bag). It makes perfect sense for Total to have some house brands. What I'm not a huge fan of is their house brands crowding out labels they used to carry. If they could reduce the wide amount of space allotted to their house brands, perhaps they could again carry Caol Ila and Bunnahaibhan, and offer a wider selection of Ardbeg. I'm not much of an Irish fan, but I had bought and enjoyed one interesting peated Irish at Total's Pembroke Pines branch several years back. So when another sales associate sidled up to me and asked if he could recommend something, I said, Not exactly, but do you carry Connemara, which is a peated Irish whisky which I have bought at Total before? He said "I'm new so I don't know, but one brand we've been getting a lot of great feedback on is..." and he went on to give me the hard sell on something I'd never heard of before called Finnegan's, which again would turn out to be a Total house brand that was occupying most of the eye level shelf space in the Irish section. Anyway, despite the still-good selection and overall excellent pricing, you can see why I'm not giving them five stars. Now some of these house labels may be fine. I would just advise you that with any wine or spirit, if their staff steers you toward one variety, ask to taste it. They will invariably recommend one of their house brands. If you like the taste, that's great. Everybody wins. Just be aware you're not really getting an independent recommendation of their own "personal favorite." So DON'T put yourself in their hands blindly. read more

I am a 21-year-old young man, I personally don't drink and I don't have the drive to drink. I walked in for the first time ever into a total wine and the first time ever to buy alcohol. I went with my 19-year-old girl to purchase wine for my mother and father in law since Christmas was near. After searching around I choose the product and waited in line. During this time my significant other was still walking around the store. Once I reached to pay for the wine the cashier left with no warning to go get the assistant manager. The assistant manager decides to come over to me and tell me I was not allowed to purchase any wine from the store for a day since I was with an under-aged (i told him she was 19 years old). We decide to ask him why and if it was company policy and he said that it was a personal policy and then decided to kick us out of the store. I will never be buying anything in any total wine store ever and neither is anyone that I tell this story to. I did not do anything wrong and was treated very rudely and unfairly. read more

Out of all my visits the one person who has always come through has been Cayla. Anytime I've walked I just get completely ignored I think mostly due to my age, I assume the staff thinks I'm there for a 24 pack of miller lite so they go to the 40 year old woman next to me who wants a bottle of "white wine". But Cayla fortunately enough has been attentive towards me anytime I've seen her and extremely knowledgeable whenever I have asked her something. In reality the prices are good but just not a fan of the service beyond Cayla. read more

This place is perfect they have every kind of wine, liquor, beer, cigars and drinking accessories you can think of. They also offer wine and beer tasting. The staff is great, they are all very kind and there's someone always walking around willing to help you find anything you want or need. The staff is very knowledge on all the products and they give great recommendations. The costumer service is great In the many times I've been here I've never had a bad experience. If you've been searching for that brand that's not as well know or not sold at other stores, I can almost guarantee total wine will have it. I can't tell you 100% that they have the best price or special, but they always have some kind of special and this place is so huge you are bound to find something within your price range. The location is great right in town and county mall so there's plenty of parking plus you can go to other places after. Overall a great Store and my go to for an alcoholic beverage. I have never in my entire life written a negative review towards a business but I just had to speak up and defend my rights. I came into this place for the first time to purchase a gift card for the holidays that are approaching and I was denied being 25 years of age, obviously legal to purchase anything in that store, I was denied all because my younger sister was with me and I did not want to leave her waiting in the car because it was dark outside. I am appalled by the treatment and this situation. Number one I was not buying liquor and number two I am a licensed legal adult. I asked the guy if my sister can walk out of the store so I can continue my GIFT CARD purchase and he just nodded his head no. A nod that's all I received towards his customer service. I do not understand how this place is still in business. It's ridiculous that I was not able to purchase a gift card because my 19 year old sister was with me. It does not make sense. How about parents are we suppose to leave our children in the car just because they don't allow us to purchase with out them being an adult it's ridiculous. Makes no sense what so ever. I have been a customer at Total Wine for major purchases for 4 years. Last month, I went with a friend that was going to buy two wine bottles for a Halloween party. We went together and realized that she had left her wallet, so I just told her I was going to buy them. I gave the cahier my ID, I am 27 years old, then, she also asked for my friend's Id claiming that she was part of the purchase and she needed to show her ID as well. My friend is 25 years old, I explained that she had left her wallet and it didn't make any sense to me that she had to show her Id as well because in the past I had gone with my sister and they didn't ask me for my ID. She called a manager that told me that I could not go out of the store and come back by myself because I was banned from the store 24 hours from that moment until my friend could show prove that she was 21 years or older. I went out of the store and called the company who told me that it was the company policy, which they don't specify in their home page, it just says that one of the buyers need to be 21 years or older. We went back to the store and my friend bought the two wine bottles and told them that it was the last time we purchase something from Total Wine. It makes no sense that everybody that makes "part of the purchase" need to be 21 years or older. This was my personal experience and I am not buying from this place any more. If you are planning on going there make sure that everybody going with you is 21 years or older and have their ID with them. read more

The selection was great, the layout was nice and the store was very clean. The customer service was not good at all. First off, when we walked in (my husband and I) no one looked happy at all. When we picked our new 1/2 keg and went to the register the cashier was rude and had an attitude. First she made a big deal about the receipt for the old keg, which my husband never had a problem with, and then when I went to pay made another big deal about my age. I am 21 and will be 22 in 3 days. She made it known loudly that I was 21 and called the manager over to check if my ID was real. It was very embarrassing. The whole time she was doing this she had a horrible attitude! You would think a business that is mainly alcohol oriented would have scanners at the register to swipe an ID. Walgreen's, Target and others do! Instead I had everyone looking at me because it was advertised that I was only 21 and might have a fake ID! Overall the store itself and the selection is nice.
