All the Total Wines are about the same. Best prices I have found for bourbon and tequila. They also offer classes in the evenings where you go through a guide tasting of about 8 different spirits. Comes with some kind of appetizer. This one is the location where they get allocated product. I got the call to pick up a Blanton Bourbon last year. I do not like their Grand Reserve allocation events. They had about 200 bottles that could be purchased, but you had to line up at the door by 10 AM on a Saturday. I got their early and there were close to 300 people in line. I would rather they have a lottery and you enter with your preference and they do random picks and call you. read more

I went to E & A Meats this past weekend, thinking that I would try out a small neighborhood butcher for high-quality. I was sorely disappointed! I spent a lot of money for a rack of lamb, and it was the worst rack of lamb I have ever cooked. And I have cooked many over the years. This review is about the CLASSES at Total Wine. Did you know that Total Wine has classes? Well let me tell you, they seem to be quite popular because when I was looking to enroll in one online, lots of dates were sold out. If you've been inside any Total Wine, you may have noticed the lovely room in the back with the counter tables and chairs. Here, we experienced "Salud! An introduction to tequila and mezcal". There were two presenters who gave us a two hour lecture on the origins of different tequilas and a couple of mezcals and how they are made and of course there are samples! Oh are there ever samples! We tried 7 tequilas and 2 mezcals and I will just say that the samples are quite generous! They even had some food set up in the back of the classroom for us. And I don't mean some Chips and jarred salsa, I mean chips, salsa rice, chicken and beef fajitas and tortillas. Every tequila and mezcal sampled is available to buy and they do bring in several bottles of each so that you don't have to go searching for them in the store, but there is ZERO pressure to buy anything. All of this was only $20 per person. I enrolled my husband and I for a date night (afternoon) and he is still raving about it to everyone. Excellent value and fun!! read more

Honestly I want to give a big shout to Mike. I walked in the store he greeted me then assisted me what I was looking for. He walked me over the aisle the item was out of stock. The rest will go on a Total Wine gift card. We shopped here for our wedding at the beginning of November 2021 and found out about this local, store policy at the time we were returning the product. It especially impacted us since we were encouraged to buy more alcohol than necessary even after we disclosed our wedding guest count had decreased significantly. Can't say enough good things about my recent visit to Total Wine. Jose G. was extremely helpful not only to me but to other customers as well. He knew the store very well and helped customers find exactly what they were looking for. He went out of his way to answer any questions I had while also recommending great things to try right now that I bought and in the future. I love learning about wine and spirits and learned more in the few minutes I was speaking with him than at any distillery. I went there recently to buy Luxardo Cherries for my Old Fashions and I found that they have Humidor with nice selection of premium cigars so it eliminates two stops in case I am in the mood for a nice cigar with my old fashion I don't have to stop at Cigar shop and traffic in this area can get little crazy so less stops the more better. I am not a frequent shopper here but I might stop by more cause they have a nice Humidor now and I think their prices are little cheaper than most places or competitive. This review targets the Total Wine at the Rim in San Antonio. I love, love, love this store but let's face it sometimes you're overwhelmed and need help which is, I'm pretty sure, one of the reasons they have employees. Normally, they seem eager to assist. This time was different. I stood at cust service for a bit where there was someone at the computer who saw me there but never acknowledged me.Another stafff member came by and looked up what I wanted and simply pointed to it and told me the approximate location.After that I needed assistance in another area ang got the same treatment.I truely felt as if I was a bother. In the past they ALWAYS walked you over to what you asked for and helped you find it. Now this was a Tues so it's not as if they were overcome by customers. When we got to the cashier, I mentioned another product . She looked it up, told me how much she enjoyed the product, took me to the area where she last saw it, asked a coworker( who again was very disinterested) and told me the name in case I wanted to try finding it elsewhere.
