I do not drink often or much so when shopping it's not based on a need for quantity when making a purchase. What I like about Total Wine & More is that I can easily access customer reviews, product descriptions, pricing, availability, and shelved locations all via the mobile application. This makes for me shopping for products that I do not often consume highly accessible. As for the Harrison Street location, it's well stocked with a wide range of beverages, and brands, and generous of promotional deals, in my case a 10% Off Spirits that opted me to stock 3 bottles. Tequila, El Padrino Blanco. Gin, Citadelle Vodka, Gallant All were in stock, and easy to locate with aisle / bay locations denoted by store. The staff have always been professional, the retail space spotless, and parking easy. I will happily come back. read more

However I was looking for a particular liquor and I could not find any staff anywhere except for when I went back to the front and asked a cashier. So note to self, if you are looking for something specific, ask the front staff where it is so you don't waste any time looking for it as it is a fairly big space. Big plus is that I found the liquor and found a cheaper alternative brand next to it. read more

Ouchy. Long wait at check out, as the cashiers switched over and I got a lot of insight into how their day was going, and it's great when co-workers are friendly with each other but there was a line of people waiting. When I finally did get checked out I got a load of mean girl snark from "Heather" as I was rushing out of the store. The snide comment strategy may have worked well in high school but isn't a cute look around grown ups at an actual job. On my side I was in a hurry and in the middle of dealing with a family pet emergency so my decision to stop in and run an errand to distract myself may have been misguided. Next time, I'll make sure to drive the few extra blocks over to K&L Wines where they have been nothing but nice (and knowledgable) over many years that I have shopped there. Ok, I'll admit that the $10 off $50 coupon brought us in-- the place itself, along with the charming staff, made us stay! First of all, this store has a wonderful a layout. It's truly a candy store for adults. If you walk the store clockwise from the entrance, it's natural to start with wine. We welcomed the many glorious samples from various winemakers. The wine offerings here are plentiful and thorough, but don't sleep on the vast and diverse booze and beer here. Also notable: there's glassware, snacks, greeting cards, and other thoughtful knickknacks that would be super helpful for gift-giving! Disneyland for adults! They even have a tasting room, Thur - 2-6 Fri 1-7 Sat 12-6 The store is located in the old Office Max space, with a large, free parking lot. This is a wonderland of liquor, mixers, & snacks. Given the dicey area, it's understandable they would have security guards. Yes, they card everyone, many places do that. The gentleman getting his ID checked beside me was 80! It's good for a laugh. I found the place clean, well organized, and well staffed with friendly, knowledgeable people. If I ever have a party or develop a drinking problem, this place will be my go-to. read more

Since I was going to be in the City, I placed an online order for a birthday gift at this location. This is a new location and the first in the City so I was looking forward to checking out this store. Located just south of the 101 freeway and next to WAG Hotel and across from Best Buy, it has a good-sized fenced-in parking lot given it's not the best part of town. Entering the store, there's a security guard at the entrance and you need to show an ID to enter the store. I've never had to show ID at other locations. New Total Wine policy? The sign for Order Pickup was on right by the registers and I pushed the assistance button on the counter. A clerk came and scanned by pick-up email and my ID and she pulled my order from the shelf. I asked about the ID check at the entrance and that I haven't seen at other store. She said it was only at this store and has helped with stopping vagrants from entering the store. After pick-up, I checked out the store to see if they had some items I was looking for and just browsed their aisles. Total Wines has so much selection in wine, beer, and spirits. It's nice that Total Wines had opened a store in the City. read more

This location is great. They carry my favorite mai tai in a can - 10 Barrel Brewing Mai Tai - which is a different formula than others and is THE BEST. The other bay area Total Wines tend to not have it so here I am again heading over to SF lol. Additionally, just got back from Portugal where I discovered White Port (I'm sure y'all knew about it but not me) and there are at least 4 different choices of White Port along with probably at least 10 choices of Tawny Port (& likely Ruby Port but ewwww). Employees are readily available to help and very friendly. Plus, parking is super easy because they have a huge parking lot. All the more appreciated as you glance next door at the line of cars waiting to get into the Rainbow Market parking lot....yikes. I'll definitely be back when I run out of mai tais! read more

Some random dudes named Bernard and Manny on here are giving negative reviews because there's armed security at the door asking for ID. This isn't a great area in SF and I'm so grateful there is armed security at the door. I wish we had more armed security everywhere in the freakin city. This place is such an incredible addition to the area as there are not a lot of options like it. Especially with target closing soon. Maybe if target had armed security they wouldn't be closing. If you're going here thinking alcohol is going to be cheap, you're wrong. This place has an amazing selection of all spirits and cordials and the prices are reasonable and much better than liquor stores. If you buy wine in bulk you can really save money! Woohoo, we finally have a TW in SF and this one is seriously impressive in selection. No matter what your poison, you will undoubtedly find options you didn't even know existed. While I can appreciate the liquor choices, my pleasure is beer. I was surprised at the diversity of what they had, even for smaller microbreweries. And if you need it cold, they have a huge, walk-in refrigerated area. The one experience is that they card you before you even enter the store. It feels straight up suburban in here with the uniform branding, wide aisles, massive stock, and friendly staff. Ample free parking and merchandise laid out in a way that I would think everyone here is operating as directed from a manual. More than 4 different kinds of Athletic non-alcoholic beer and all sorts of other non-alcoholic things I hadn't seen before. Security person will ask to see your card before entering. Great to have Total Wine in SF. I live on the east coast and in my travels stop at the one in Delaware and Virginia. They are great stores. Well stocked and easy to find categories of what you are looking for. The staff always seem well trained and helpful. We had an exceptional experience at the San Francisco location today. The manager, Jason, was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help with a situation. We appreciated his help. Customer service seems to lack at many places but the customer service at Total Wine is exceptional. AND that is one of the many reasons I like to buy from them. I went to Total Wine to stock up for a large event. I was quite blown away by the extensive selection. I was fortunate enough for a sales person to come by to help who turned out to be off-the-charts helpful and knowledgeable. I'd guess Edgar spent a full hour with me. I was selecting 2 whites, 2 reds, a rose and champagne, in addition to some hard alcohol and beer. Often, I'm really the type who does not want a lot of help, but he had such an extensive knowledge base and obvious passion for wine and spirits, it was immensely helpful. He understood what I was aiming for and made numerous suggestions. I look forward to the next time I need to stock up! I also want to add that I am shocked at the bad reviews - which are pretty much all about having a security at the door and checking ID. It's as if these people have no awareness of how bad crime has gotten in the city. So many large retailers/employers are closing up, including the Target right down the block, with the biggest reason cited as theft. Went in on a Sunday afternoon just for a case of Coca-Cola and shop for some special drink for my birthday. Got carded at the door by the security guard to make sure I was over 21 which was fine great security. Then I did some shopping, picked up some items that were currently on sale which I really enjoyed. I got to the point when I was on my way out to the cashier. I stopped by the mini bottles section, and I noticed that the cashier had pulled out of her cashier station to watch me and make sure that I didn't steal any miniature liquor bottles. Dooley Noted but I digressed. So I went ahead and decided to get checked out. I was the fourth person in line so I went ahead and waited to be checked out. Ana was the cashier. She began to take care of my purchase and asked if I was a member. I advised her no. She then asked for my ID. I provided it her. She scanned it and I asked does that add me to the membership system. She said NO that makes sure you're over 21. I said well security checked it when I came in the door. She said yes but I need to make sure you're over 21. I replied that you didn't ask and of the 4 people ahead of me but you're asking for mines. She ignored the my question and then told me total. I went ahead and paid because she had a line. I then sent straight to the customer service counter to get an IMMEDIATE refund because I don't spend my hard earned money where I'm profiled and discriminated by the employees that work here. ILL NEVER SOEND MT MONEY HERE EVER! Btw I had a friend go there for the same items and she's younger than me and she wasn't carded and her interaction was so much better lmao. read more

I'm a fan! We decided to stop by here for our thanksgiving festivities instead of Safeway and very glad we did. Interestingly, we got carded at the door which was a bit strange but soon as we stepped in I was surprised at how clean the place was. But maybe it'll take some time for it to become dirty and dingy. But either way great selection of beers/wines/liquor... you name it. And we even had a wine tasting. The staff was also quite friendly and helpful. I welcome the new business to the neighborhood and appreciate the effort of an "amazing" selection and investment. However they ask for an ID to enter the business. I asked the armed person at the entrance why the asked for an ID and he replied "because of people like you". Not sure what he meant. Now! Was super happy to see Total Wine investing in San Francisco! As you can see most of the one star reviews were based on people not liking the fact they ask for IDs at the front. But if you knew anything about the neighborhood and how certain folks were driving businesses out of this neighborhood, you would understand the minor inconvenience. Also, Total Wine has also always asked for my ID at the register regardless of how old I look. So I'm ok with them asking at the front. The store is clean and well organized with super helpful staff. You actually feel like you're in a suburban Total Wine. They were well stocked and had everything I needed at a very decent price. The person checking me out was great too. I used to drive all the way to Daly City to make my Total Wine purchases, but now I don't have to! Will definitely be back! read more

I'm really excited they opened a total wines in walking distance to my house, previously I would drive to Daly City. However, when I heard this store was opening I immediately was concerned on how they would manage to prevent thief and stay in business. For example, the Target that's one block away has all their items behind plexiglass. Today, when I visited for the first time, I was thoroughly surprised with how safe it felt. Love that they check your ID at the door. Makes the environment feel safe, and makes the check out process even easier. With the added bonus of having security on site with a purpose. The inside of the store is very clean and organized (it has that new store smell). The staff was still in training mode it seems, but they were very friendly, courteous and plentiful. Although they have a seriously ginormous collection, their light/low carb beer selection was lacking. I was really hoping they would carry Michelob Ultra Pure Gold in 12oz cans, but they only had glass bottles. (I hate glass, minus a star for the missing gold cans). Was also hoping they would carry Sapporo Pure, but they didn't have that either. Altogether this place is amazing, I really hope this location stays in business and they don't leave. Very clean, expansive store with options for any budget and knowledgeable staff that can patiently point you in the right direction or walk you through selection. Definitely for those 21+, they even have samples. The store(s) don't feel like a "liquor" store and have much more a variety than a grocery or convenience store. AMAZING TOTAL WINE! Gosh I love this place, not only is it super clean but everyone is so friendly. It's in a gated area with security patrolling and armed guards at the entrance. I love it because there are plenty of homeless people around and for the people in the reviews who are complaining about the armed security, aren't you the ones who complain about the dangers of homelessness in the city and then complain when a company is protecting it's property and inventory from looting and stealing? I swear to god half of you don't even consider using common sense or thinking. Was here for the first time last week and Joe was SO HELPFUL. We spent at least 30-45 minutes just hanging out with the employees. I will definitely be back and will do all my shopping here. I visited the Harrison st store today. It was very clean and well organized. Huge collection. yes you need a valid ID to get in. But other than that my shopping experience was very pleasant. I was searching for non alcoholic beer and didn't know where to start. A gentleman working there showed me all the brands they have and even ranked them by popularity for me.
