Jan 11 2026 I purchased what I thought to be 30 days of tanning and spa services (all access package) The nice ladies who work at the store told me if I did not want go beyond the 30 days of services I would need to cancel before Jan 19th which I did. When I went to tan Feb 2nd I was denied access I was told to contact customer service. When I did my call was answered by the worst customer service representative I have ever delt with. I asked why I was being cut off after just 21 days. I was told their billing starts over on the 1st of the month. Okay fine but you are denying 10 days of which I already paid for. This person did not care or seem to understand the concept of theft. Her attitude was to bad so sad. Lesson learned. I will be loud in telling people to stay away from Totally tan and spa. read more

they say they change their bulbs twice as often as other salons- a blatant lie. They change their bulbs every two years. They allow you to upgrade or restart your membership on site but you have to contact their website site to freeze or cancel. BEWARE- do not sign up. read more

Take yor business elsewhere! The staff at the tanning was salon was nice. We purchased 2 of their highest package for $132.00 each. We signed up January 11th and was told on February 1st our membership was over. We paid for 2 30 day packages and they stole 20 days from us. When calling corporate I was told they didn't have a manager on duty. She tried telling me their billing runs the 1st and they can't prorate anything. I asked if she thought stealing from customers was OK? Their practices are shady and customer service horrendous.. She also tried to tell me it was in the contract I asked if she had my signature she said no.. She offered nothing to make the situation right all I asked for was the 30 days we paid for. read more

I've had a membership for many years. The hybrid beds and open sun beds are the best. I am complimented on my tan a lot. The red light therapy has had great benefits for my skin. Employees are always helpful and freezing membership for the summer is easy. The place is always clean. I've used tanning beds elsewhere and TT is a great price with high quality beds. read more

The tanning is fine, the people who work here are nice. The company is a predatory operator who refuses to pursue even the basics of good customer service. They operate like a timeshare scam, laying traps for customers to fall into while hiding behind extremely brief disclosures given in seconds by teenagers who are not fully aware of the contract terms, while you stand in line and feel pressure by people waiting behind you. I signed up Feb 20, their own registration email says your first draft will be prorated, I have been charged the full amount every time. Its all deception, and some even outright lies. Read the other reviews. I was misled twice by employees while signing up, one told me that I should sign up for the highest plan, and then downgrade because it would save me money (it didn't, and I lost my prorated discount), and second when they told me I can cancel any time. (you can't, you can cancel ONLY before the 20th of each month. As if it takes 10 days to process a cancellation that is done by an electronic form. They will not call you back when they say they will, they always have to "talk to the manager and call you back" never got a call. Why would you want to set up your business so the baseline for the customer is to be cheesed off, rather than provide good service. If they can pro rate the partial month you sign up (after 30 days and a $25 fee of course, then you can pro rate the month when you quit. Hell even if they said you have to pay for the rest of the month fine, but requiring 10 days notice, and then if you fail that little trick, they charge you another full month. Lesson learned I guess. The details were there, but they should be explained in detail by the employee registering you, not just put in the fine print and ignored by the people who work there. Hell one employee even told me her sister was so mad at her from all the skeezy charges, her own sister made her pay her back for the unexpected overages. I think that tells you all you need to know. Buyer beware. Expect to pay way more than you thought. Oh and PS, friends tan free, but only in a crappy bed that has glorified fluorescent light bulbs. I did it for two weeks and never even saw any color. They used to let you use the level 3 beds, now its like level 0. read more

Robbery!!!! Policies are not verbally disclosed. I paid for , what I was led to believe, was a 1 per month spray tan membership. A spray tan outright is $40 and I have been paying $35 per month as a membership. If it isn't used within the month, ITS GONE!!! That's right, I've paid well over $600 in one year thinking I had enough tans built up to cover my summer. I have TWO!!! Customer phone service was rude with poor English and there was NO follow up!! I'm really not one to post negative reviews but I'm really disappointed and frustrated at my experience today. I'm a new Celebrity member and today went in to get a spray tan. They didn't have the gradual solution I usually use so I decided to try the Instant. Bought primer and applied it. After stepping out of the booth, I already had a splotch unfortunately right on my neck. I showed the girl at the front and she suggested I wear turtlenecks until I can spray again........She apologized and said that she was sorry she wished she had a solution. Me too. I signed up for the unlimited monthly spray tan. It was $59.99 a month, plus the sign up "fee" of $25. I wasn't too impressed with the manager at first encounter. Kind of cold and wouldn't make eye contact. She was okay after she warmed up - but sheesh. I got my first spray and noticed it was very orange-y and not even. It completely missed my thighs for some reason. It's not like I didnt stand still. Been spraying since 2015 lol. The second time I went it was way worse. The right side of my body got nothing while the left side got crazy dark orange I called corporate to cancel my membership. Erinn at corporate explained that I can't get my $85 back, but that I could use the $25 sign up fee as credit towards lotion. I thanked her politely as she hung up on me without saying goodbye. This is my second review for Totally Tan & Spa, due to 2 different negative experiences at 2 different locations. Waited 40 minutes to tan. The location was busy, so I was very patient, but I was the 4th person in line, and it took this long. There were 2 associates, one was doing all of the checking in, and the "asst. manager" was standing at the second computer, until she walked to the back. The lobby was full of people, and there clearly needed to be a second person checking people in. The younger gal that was checking everyone in was busting her butt, and apologizing for the wait times. The flow of this location was very unorganized and inconvenient, and I felt horrible for the young woman who had to run around cleaning beds, checking people in, and doing damage control with customers. read more

I bought my wife a Gift Card, Gift Card! for a Valentine's Day Gift. Her Doctor informed her that because of her Skin Condition she can not use Tanning Beds or anything UV. I called Guest Services to ask for a Refund. Of a GIFT Card. They Refused to stating "All Sales are Final." This wasn't a Membership or Ordered Services, it is a Gift Card! Being a native from Florida and now a Minnesota transplant, I needed to ensure I got my dose of rays during the winter months so looked around and landed on this place. Totally Tan is simple, clean and provides a lot of different package options for the tanning enthusiast and for me, on a as-needed basis. Option 1: You can pay for a certain amount of points that will allow you to pick from a selection of beds (eg. A level 3 bed for 1 point, level 4 bed for 2 points, etc). Option 2: Pay a one-time activation fee of $49.99 for a monthly subscription of varying levels. I did the math: At $35 for the most basic subscription of unlimited Level 3 tans, at one tan per week for two months, that comes out to $15/tan. I went with Option 1 so I paid $164 for 20 points.. since I'll be using a Level 3 bed, that comes out to $8.20 per tan and I get to go whenever I want. Option 2 is only worth it if you're going at least 2x a week. Each booth comes with a standard towel, eye protection, and a plastic neck rest. Wish they had a full length mirror in each room (they're inexpensive and would add value) but you'll have to settle for a small face mirror that's not really a mirror. Plus the initial money paid to sign up! I have went to numerous locations of totally tan. The one in Woodbury is amazing customer service. The one here in golden valley is hard times. The problem is it's convenient. When the pandemic hit I lost my last 2 weeks of the month. I wouldn't ever ask for a refund for those weeks ....but I was surprised when I went in today to renew my membership and they tried to charge me for the past 2 months. Then she said she could give me a deal and charge me for $100 for just one of the months. My options are pay or don't be a member. Option 2 please... thanks. I own a business. It seems very poor business to charge people for months in time of pandemic. The social skills managing this situation were less than acceptable. It seems counter intuitive to turn monthly members always who have faithfully paid top dollar .....this is a time in life when businesses need to go the extra mile and customers need to be thoughtful and understanding. I have never got a tan in a salon before but i swear im a rainbow like im white on my privates :-o and brown on my none private different shades weird i know. and me and my boyfriend who has the farmers tan was like let go!!. i found this spot on yelp and decided okay lets risk it. We wanted tanning bed I KNOW cancer but its fast and quick. the girl upfront was so helpful we told her it was a first time and she describe the info so well. the bed where nice and bright and clean. The bed have aroma and mist and music and fans its super cool.. i went in for 8 mins and i got like a kiss tan so did my boyfriend will deff go back cost me $20 read more

I signed up many years ago under certain rules, over the years the rules have changed when it come to memberships and they do not notify you until they already have your money. After they closed my location I stopped going even though they still continues to take money from my account. My card has now expired for they continued payment they took every month and I haven't gone in years, now I get a call to say that I need to pay for the last 3 months to cancel my membership even though I haven't been there in years since they closed my location! I got a spray tan from the Golden Valley location a couple of days ago in anticipation of an upcoming vacation. I purchased a Groupon voucher for about $17, which included the "dark" shade (which translated to 2 shades darker). I think spray tans are usually around $30 so this was a good value. I went with dark because I am somewhat naturally fair skinned and it was my first spray tanning experience, so I didn't want to go too crazy. If you want anything darker, there is a $3-$6 upcharge. You can also choose between instant and delayed. I chose instant because I wanted to know how dark I was going to be right away. Prior to starting the treatment, I was given the option to purchase an exfoliating glove with a pH-balancing solution on it. The employee told me that this helps reduce any orange undertones. I'm not sure how true that is, but I was already pretty nervous about how it would turn out and figured I better not take any chances (lol) so I bought it for an additional $7. The same employee then showed me to the booth and walked me through the process in great detail. I wish I remembered her name because she was awesome and answered all of my questions. Afterwards, I was really satisfied with my color, even though I ended up being a little lighter after I showered the next day. The coverage was very even, and the color looked very natural. It was not streaky or orange-looking at all. I did not wash my face, shower, etc for more than 12 hours because I was worried about it not setting, but I'm sure it would be fine to wash it off sooner. The bottom of my feet were pretty orange afterward, even with a generous layer of the barrier cream on my soles. It looks 100x better now (a day and a half later), a lot of the excess on the soles of my feet came off during my shower so if they do get orange, no worries because it will improve! Next time, I'd probably put a towel down under my feet during the treatment - I hear this helps more than the barrier cream. Overall, I'm really pleased with how it turned out. The employees were really friendly and helpful. I've already recommended this place to one of my coworkers who is getting married this summer. I don't see myself becoming a regular spray tanner, but I will definitely return for special occasions in the future. read more

Was told to submit a form by the 20th but the change goes into effect immediately, so basically will pay for the last ten days of the month at full membership prices but won't get full membership amenities. I am not typically one to tan, I have known way too many people with skin cancer or sun related issues. The only time I will "fake bake" is when I am going on warm weather vacations (because I burn very easily). All that being said, Totally Tan is pretty great. The staff are very knowledgeable (and patient when I came in asking 57653123 questions) and the place is squeaky clean. Its kinda like Cheers, too...they know your name after a few times seeing you. I am not going to go into details on all the beds, because its personal preference on what bed you use. However, I will give my opinion. The stand up beds are always my favorite; I feel like you get a more even tan. I did splurge on a couple tans in an expensive bed, a Level 5, and was pleasantly surprised how nice of a glow you will get from 8-10 minutes in one of those babies. Pro tip: Don't forget to always ask how new the bulbs are if you are sensitive, like me. My pasty white skin burns very easily, just 3-minutes in a 9-minute stand up bed and I am pink. 4 stars instead of 5 because its more expensive than I feel like it should be, but can you imagine their electricity bill?! If I ever need to tan again, I will always come here. read more

Absolutely worst experience 1/5 . Had two month get charged while I was injured and tried to cancel both months but still charged. The beds were also always full and dirty the 4 or 5 times I went in the first month. I didn't use the facility for two months and they want to charge me another month 9 days before the new month. Unfortunately I have to leave a SECOND review for this awful salon because I decided to give it a chance for a spray tan (because the norvell booths really are the best automated spray booth out there). I visited the Golden Valley location with my sister, and the whole check in process took a long time but whatever. I asked for the instant spray tan with an extra shot and paid 39$ for that with a primer. The associate Corinna said she accidentally charged me for a spa session and not a spray tan. She said I would have to swipe my card again, which I said absolutely not. She then sat on the phone for about 15 minutes calling multiple people just to hang up and say the only thing she can do is see about a refund and if I wanted to spray today I needed to be charged again. I repeated that I was NOT swiping my card again and would like a refund and a managers phone number. She then gave me horrible attitude and was rolling her eyes at me because SHE made a mistake. Some of the worst customer service I have ever received and this girl should not have a job anywhere that requires to be remotely pleasant because she was anything but. I just wanted to set the Groupon record straight. I purchased the Totally Tan Groupon for 2 spray tans and three UV tanning sessions. I read the Fine Print and it states "Promotional value expires 120 days after purchase. Amount paid never expires." From my understanding, the promo will expire after 120 days, but the total cost of what you paid does not. Correct me if I'm wrong. read more

Nice facility and staff at the St. Anthony location. The upper management is impossible to deal with. I put my membership on hold through Covid. It cost me $5/month. I could have cancelled but I really appreciated the job of the manager Esther and all the staff. Apparently there was an issue(they say) and they charged me 2 months of return fees stating that my credit card was denied. I tried calling the business office several times and I was always told that the manager was out ill. When I finally did reach someone they said that I had to pay the two $15 late charges and I had to pay a new facility fee for the year to unfreeze my membership. I then went to the location I was using and spoke with the manager. I called my credit card company while I was there and they said that they hadn't put through any charges and nothing was denied. On May 7th they did put through charges. Nothing changed with my account but suddenly they were able to put them through? I then went back after work to tan and I was told my account was frozen. To unfreeze it I would have to rejoin & sign new forms. I was going to take a picture of the forms because I don't like to sign my name blindly and they quickly pulled it away and said you can't take a photo of that. I have no trust in this company . If I have to sign a blank piece of paper and then get an email later with what I signed I cannot support them. read more

Bought a groupon for a single spray tan because the price was unbeatable. Seriously wish I could buy more of them because I loved the experience. The facility was very clean and the lady working the front desk was super friendly. Their spray tans are Norvell which are different from the standard VersaSpa. I was a little skeptical about how it would turn out but I was so happy the next day. Some custom spray tans use Norvell tanning liquid but I like how this is in a booth so you don't have to stand naked in front of anyone but still get the same color result. The booth scans your entire body to measure your height, width, etc. and customizes your tan based on that. The color of the tan is a little bit more natural than the VersaSpa and I felt like it lasted longer than other spray tans I've had. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for more deals on their spray tans! read more

Not only did they give me $25 credit just for walking in the door and joining their "text club," but they also offered me BOGO 75% off a package and a complementary spray tan. Hilarious compared to you guys! They actually understand customer service. I dished out an additional $75 on services/products just because I was so pleased. And the irony here - I was a frequent customer of theirs for years prior to this. Guess they still got me! *edited star rating after they returned my call a few days later. What a difference a new name & a beautiful renovation makes! It's a huge improvement from the salon prior to Totally Tan. I like that you don't have to sign up for a monthly membership like other salons & that you can just buy one or two tans for a reasonable price. The beds are comparable to ones at Darque Tan or Planet Beach. Don't go without a coupon - they're on their website & I get them in the mail on a regular basis! read more

It's refreshing to walk into a tanning salon and be greeted with a hello and a smile versus an employee who is annoyed that they have to help you and be there in the first place. As we are still dealing with COVID restrictions I reached out to Totally Tan to confirm the number of remaining points I HAVE PAID FOR BUT HAVE NOT USED DUE TO COVID. I tried unsuccessfully to reach someone via phone on the weekend. I then emailed them and got a response today informing me my remaining points expired TODAY. I questioned this given that due to COVID I was unable to use them and received a canned response indicating this is their policy. I find this to be HORRIBLE customer service! I paid for a service for which I was unable to use. I will NOT return to this "salon". Such poor customer service. read more

To be clear, I'm giving my review of the Maple Grove, MN location, as I've not been to the others. If I could give it ZERO stars, I would. I signed up about a month ago and I can't believe this place is still in business. The manager is the most unprofessional manager I've ever seen in any establishment. Her condescending tone with both employee's and patrons makes me wonder if the owners are so out of touch in their business, they just don't care anymore. With a room full of customers, I witnessed the manager completely trashing the owners son (the one who does inspections), saying that he comes out and inspects everything which is a waste of time and that she doesn't care if she fails the inspection because she's too busy (yeah, make sure to skip cleaning that bed because you're too busy texting). I also witnessed a gentleman come in, who asked why the store was closed without notice, when he came by to tan. Her response was, again, in a rude tone, "it was too cold to open!" Yes, it was cold, but the way she said it, set this guy off who then asked, since he only has a one month membership, will he get a refund for that day. She looked at him in total disgust and said, in front of a room of customers "You really want your $2 and change back?" He simply said, "what's your policy on this, since I paid for a month?" She grabbed the phone and said in an angry tone "I'll have to call Corporate", which she did, then began to laugh like this guy was a moron for even asking. She made the entire room uncomfortable. The managers sister (Brit), also works there and she's just as rude as the manager. I brought a complaint up about her attitude to the manager (which is how I found out she was her sister) and the manager told me she's been written up before about this and will need to talk to her again. Apparently, a write up means nothing at Totally Tan. As I read the reviews on Yelp, I can't help but wonder if they pay people for good reviews. I can tell you that everyone person I've talked to that tans here is not happy and all concur that the beds are nice but the staff is horrible. They say they would go elsewhere if they could, but when you sign up here, if you cancel before your 6 month membership is up, they hit you with a fine. I'm thoroughly convinced that the fine was added because so many people are sick of this establishments culture so they hit you on the way out. There are many tanning establishments in and around Maple Grove. Spend your money with a company that cares about its patrons as this company obviously doesn't. read more

What a sham!!!They suddenly without notice stopped providing eye goggles. When I went in a few weeks ago they said it was up to me and they weren't required and let me tan. Since I cover my face with a towel I wasn't concerned. Apparently this month the FDA requires them and Totally Tan charges $6 a pair. You HAVE to have some to tan. Because I did not have my own with me I couldn't tan today. What an inconvenience!! How much $$$ are they scamming on people who just pay the $6. Why wasn't this communicated to members earlier? Likely because once your there you'll just pay the $6. I'd rather take my business to another tanning salon. Poorly done guys! read more
