Their sockeye salmon sashimi was fresh however I prefer atlantic salmon sashimi over sockeye salmon sashimi. It was over priced $17.95 for four pieces compared to other sushi restaurants i've been too, i'd say their salmon sashimi is way over priced. When I walked in the lady didn't even greet me and she was a bit rude however the other guy that worked there was providing me service. I was honestly going to leave if it wasn't for the guy trying to be accommodating as the lady which i'm pretty sure she is the owner wasn't even helping me take my order. I was on my lunch break too so I did not have enough time to just be waiting and waiting. On top of that there was only one customer there! As it's a small restaurant, I would not come back here because of the service and over priced. read more

We were hungry but had dogs waiting in the car, so we were looking for a good to-go food option. We'd had a full sushi dinner at Toto some years ago, but thought we'd give them another try. This time we had 2 California rolls, a salmon avocado roll, 2 pieces (1 order) of unagi nigiri, and an unagi roll. Choosing these options was far less expensive than what we'd ordered the previous visit (C$ 45 rather than C$ 100), so it seemed less extravagant, but again, the quality was only middling. Even though there was only one order in front of us, we were told it would take 20-minutes (which it did). I asked for tuna nigiri (maguro) and was told they had no tuna. The salmon avocado roll was adequate, but about what you might expect from the cooler at Thrifty Foods. The Unagi nigiri and unagi roll were both a little better, because the unagi was cooked (presumably to order). The California rolls were a big disappointment ... almost a salad of fake crab (surimi) with a little avocado on the side - lots of mayonnaise (or whatever the sauce was) and little surimi. And the rice -- an inexpensive item that can really help make rolls or nigiri good - but it was either old or something else -- not great. To make it worse, each of the rolls were small (fewer pieces in a roll, a way of raising prices without changing the price on the menu). I wish I could say going back was worth it -- it wasn't. The surprising thing is that the pictures of sushi (and non-shush items too) on Yelp look pretty good ... they didn't match what we saw in practice. read more

We stopped by for lunch before heading over to the mall to do some shopping. Menu was available by QR code and we ordered a number of items. We ordered a Japanese soda, Tsawwassen Set, plain udon, salmon oshi, toro aburi and hotate aburi. The restaurant was very child friendly. We had a child's cup, cutlery and plate dropped off. We had a teapot and tea cups for the adults. Food arrived after a short wait. This was one of the better Japanese dining experiences I have had in recent memory. The quality and presentation was great for the price. The Tsawwassen Set was a good lunch combo and offered a bit of everything. There was a choice of chicken or beef teriyaki plus miso soup, sashimi, California roll, tempura, and ebi sunomono. The salmon oshi was made well too and was super tasty. The aburi was also fresh and nicely prepared. Plain udon was alright. I ordered it for my child because he loves noodles. Service was great. Our server stopped by regularly to refill our teapot and clear dirty dishes. COVID precautions were in place. Staff wore face masks. Vaccination passports were checked. Hand sanitizer was available. read more

Was surprised that this got 5 stars review across the board so has to check it out on my way home from point Roberts. Had the chirashi Don and the ingredients are fresh, good presentation. Their sushi rice is high quality and they use low sodium soy sauce. And the Tamago !!!! It's the best I had. It was sweet and has a hint of sake and good balance. You can tell this was made in-house with care About 15-20 seating only but service was fast Will come back for sure. If you're in the area, definitely worth a visit read more

An awesome sushi addition to the Tsawwassen area. Toto has been open for the last 6 months and is a small family owned restaurant. My mom and I came in on a Friday night unexpectedly after seeing that Thai Isaan was closed. Such a blessing in disguise! Like I said, the restaurant is small - there are a few booths and standalone tables, but this definitely isn't a place to bring a large group. But, that's okay. My mom and I were able to get a big booth to ourselves since the restaurant wasn't busy. This a family restaurant through and through - the mom, dad, and son were all back in the kitchen preparing the food, and the daughter was out at the front, greeting, seating, and taking orders. It was really cool to see the whole family hard at work. My mom and I ordered a few things to share: + Miso soup + Oyster tempura w/ mayo dip + Paradise roll (deep fried cali roll w/ wakame seaweed on top) + Sweet Mango roll (mango cali roll) + Crunch roll (tempura/dynamite roll w/ crispy tempura flakes) We were so impressed with the flavour and presentation of all the dishes! I really loved the oyster tempura in particular because I've never seen that at other Japanese restaurants in the city. I also really liked their crunch roll because it had 3 different sauces and every bite was flavourful. We even used the leftover tempura flakes and put them on top of the other rolls. This has got to be one of the best in the neighbourhood. I've done both takeout and eat in. The service is amazing and it is a nice little family owned restaurant. Sushi and sashimi tasted really fresh and was done really high quality. I really admired the presentation of the dishes. Their toro was sooooo good it melted in my mouth. I tried multiple specialty rolls and they were all really worth it for the price. I wish I took more pictures but I ate all the food before I could. I'll definitely be back! read more

My fiancé and I travelled up from Bellingham, WA to do some shopping for the day and we were craving sushi. We didn't want to travel into downtown Vancouver, so we opted for something closer to the border. We were pleasantly surprised with how delicious and fresh this sushi was! The staff at this restaurant are extremely rude. We called in a To-go order and had a last minute change and asked to eat there. The girl gave as a rude attitude and unnecessarily told us that we were "wasting their styrofoam" for 2 small styrofoam boxes, the girl then proceeds to roll her eyes at us before begrudgingly getting us our drinks. During our meal, an older woman comes out of the back screaming in a foreign language and gesturing to us and obviously talking about us as we ate, she later came and hovered over us as we were finishing our meal. She then proceeded to complain to us twice about wasting her styrofoam. I think they need to do some customer service evaluation if they want to keep customers. read more

Really unassuming but excellent sushi place! All the salmon was sockeye, even though I didn't see that mentioned on the menu so had assumed it was farmed. The sashimi slices were plump, fresh, cool, and delicious- as good as it gets. The salmon and avocado rolls were some of the most impressive I've seen- as fat as a specialty roll but completely stuffed with that delicious salmon and many ripe but firm avocado slices. The tempura was delicate, golden, and crispy. All the nigiri had very fresh slices of fish or shrimp. Just pretty perfect and not too expensive! read more

We tried a few of the pricier items but everything was delicious. Assorted tempura had traditional Japanese choices around vegetables, mushrooms and shrimp. Crispyness was spot on...Oishi katta! We had Cali rolls, spicey agadashi tofu, torched tuna tataki--all the tastes were very fresh and delicious. Their unique spin on the dishes was nice. Cute decor, quaint touches.... I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food ,the presentation and the taste of all of the food I ordered at this newly opened sushi restaurant .It is a family run restaurant and the owners were very attentive and efficient in getting the food from the kitchen to our table . I have to admit I am very picky with my sushi and am always a little disappointed at most places I've been to . This place took me by surprise completely and the food was amazing . The owner and his daughter served us our food that was created with such style and immaculate presentation by his wife .I think I have found my new favorite sushi place in town . read more

We did not have a good experience tonight with Toto sushi. The prices are above average prices in relation to the other sushi restaurants in Tsawwassen and the quality was below average. We ordered avocado rolls with our dinner tonight and all the rolls were brown. We picked up and ate our sushi twenty minutes after ordering. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

This sushi restaurant replaces the former Nikko Sushi with fresh decor and management. We had our first visit tonight and were very happy with the changes. The service was quick and efficient; the food was all very fresh and delicious. Nicely presented. There are many menu items we will return to sample. There are some very nice wood-block type images transferred to textile that are framed and are an interesting addition to the new decor. A couple of minor downsides - lousy music in the background, at least to my liking, thankfully not too loud or intrusive; and some cool drafts in the place - but there is a heater and some blankets for use if you are sensitive to drafts. They have a take out menu and some good prices for lunch. We look forward to returning. read more
