This is the worst healthcare provider service I have ever encountered, even after using diagnostic services in some very rural areas and in the busiest Metropolitan areas. maybe one out of 10 service and scheduling reps even listens to your issue, but every center will drop your call after waiting on hold for 10 minutes- and I mean at exactly 10 minutes. Their system is programmed to drop you without any concern when you are waiting on hold for a STAT appt or desperate need. Completely insensitive and unhelpful. Their reports are often blurry and illegible even after requesting originals multiple times. They send faxes with blurry streaks and multiple printer lines and marks making them impossible to read. I immediately called several places in Palm Beach Florida where I had no previous services and was immediately given my choice of appointments even for a Saturday. These clinics had NOT diagnosed the beast and spine cancers that are present so they had no idea of the patients history and they were very accommodating. The pictures below of my numerous calls to ARA that were dropped after exactly 19 minutes were placed on EST when the Austin clinics were still open. I addition, when I explained to at least 5 scheduling reps that ARA had rescheduled the original mammogram where cancer was suspected more than 4 times over the past 11 months, not a single agent offered to take any extra steps for the STAT orders this time. I arrived 10 minutes early for an MRI in Kyle but was refused because I didn't get there 30 minutes early for a 1:00 pm appointment.This throws off all of my upcoming appointments with other providers. I had no idea that 1:00 really means 12:30. I won't be coming to ARA again if they can't honor their appointments. read more

First time getting a mammogram, and I absolutely loved every staff member I interacted with. From the front desk to the technician, everyone was beyond kind, and that's right at 8AM too! Before that coffee hits! Super kind, informative, funny, and I felt very comfortable in their hands. read more

Was sent here when the urgent care facility I went to didn't have their X-ray machine working. I dislike going to any sort of doctor's office, so I wasn't thrilled to have to make a second trip to get my rib fracture checked out. Anyway, these folks were very helpful about getting us an appointment set up. My husband called first thing in the morning and they were able to slot us that morning. We arrived ten minutes early, as requested, checked in effortlessly, took a seat in the nice waiting area (they even had a couple of loveseats so my husband could comfort me while we waited). I was called in without much of a wait at all, and was not rushed as I gingerly and slowly made my way to their backroom. My husband was permitted to accompany me, which I appreciated (though obviously he had to wait outside the X-ray room to not be needlessly exposed). The nurse was kind to me and listened to my concerns and was very empathetic. She asked good clarifying questions about the nature of the pain, location, length of injury, etc. I was very happy they had an X-ray machine that allowed me to stay standing rather than having to lie down (laying down and getting back up are quite painful in my current state). It looked to be a well-equipped facility and efficient operation with knowledgeable staff. The nurse was quick and communicative, and the whole thing took no time at all. I think we were in and out in under twenty minutes, tops, start to finish. She instructed us to stop by the front desk and request the results sent to myself, since I don't have a primary care doctor and the urgent care people we saw the day before were useless pricks. Went home and had an update in my email inbox about the injury within two hours! read more

DO NOT ALLOW DR SARAH AVERY TO TOUCH YOU. I had a stereotactic biopsy done by her and she did not numb me enough I told her it hurt and she said "there's no needle in you I don't know what you're feeling" she continued the biopsy and I fainted from the pain with my breast still in the mammogram machine. All this just after being diagnosed with breast cancer. read more

I have been relying on ARA for most of the past 15 years, since I moved to Texas. I have always been treated respectfully, compassionately, gently, by all of the staff in Kyle. I recently had a biopsy completed by Dr. Sarah Avery which was virtually painless. Please feel comfortable relying on ARA, all locations. Communicate with the staff regarding ALL of your concerns and you will be very well treated. read more

For folks in Austin who are having a hard time finding an appointment in Austin this Kyle location is not a far drive, has no frills when it comes to parking, and has fantastic COVID precautions and measures to ensure you are safe. Do not hesitate to make an appointment here especially if you are having scheduling conflicts with other locations in Austin. These folks at ARA Diagnostic Imaging work hard and long hours! I had an appointment on a Friday afternoon at 4pm and the office was bumping with many others who needed to get imaging done. I appreciated the staff's professionalism, tact, and friendliness. My nerves were put at ease when I was greeted by my technician to get my imaging done. No judgement, professionalism, and kindness was all appreciated. Plenty of space in the waiting room to hang out until you are called to the back but do take note that no one else is allowed with you inside (due to COVID precautions) but don't fret! Your company can hang out at the coffee shop in the same shopping center located as ARA Diagnostic and/or any of the food establishments a little ways down the hill from the coffee shop. read more

Bathrooms are clean..... So unfortunately this review all has to do with wait and not keeping the patient informed. We got to the appointment very early and knew we had to wait. At the front desk we were told someone called us and left a detailed msg on the phone regarding payment, hate to break it to you but the voicemail isn't set up so how did you happen to leave a detailed voicemail? I also wanted to point out that talking bad about other patients in front of new patients I believe is a violation, isn't it? So we waited about 2 hours and after waiting the 2 hours our allotted time was pushed a bit further. Once we were called up we were asked if we were told they were running late, we were never told anything. Now after mentioning how long we waited and no one said anything we were told in a very nice manner "you can reschedule if you would like to". Yeah we weren't going to reschedule after waiting and no communication. So once that was said the front staff quickly rolled their eyes and made some comments under their breath, unfortunately that couldn't be heard. I see other reviews and people are happy but unfortunately our experience was not a good one at all. Thank you ARA I'm sure you get enough business but we will make sure to voice our experience to others besides this review. We live so close but will make sure to drive a bit out of our way to get treated the right way. read more

I Travel often and after a small procedure had to travel for a few months. When I got home they had sent my bill to collections making 0 attempts to contact me by phone or email. I also am not sure about one of the charges and they say it can take up to 3 weeks to review. What a horrible patient experience. read more

I don't understand why some companies don't think that we still have a choice as to where we do business? When you tell us that our part of the MRI is $800 and we have full coverage and it's only $65 I have a problem with that! You may not think you owe us an apology but you do. Used to love them. Now it's frustrating to deal with them due to outrageous hold times for assistance and tons of red tape. They stopped taking United Healthcare Insurance a few weeks ago. I now have to pay out of pocket for my mammogram. To add insult to injury, they just cancelled my mammogram that took forever to schedule because my doctor did not call in a diagnostic mammogram with ultrasound. So I now have to reschedule everything. I care about my health and I'm trying to stay on top of my screenings. They make everything so difficult and costly for the patient. Do better!!!!! read more

Had a very bad experience last year with the staff at ARA in San Marcos, reported to the office staff, the manager, Precious. She went out of her way to assure me that I was going to be taken care of and would not be treated in such a way again. Fast forward to today. Treated like they had never seen me before, rushed in and out of the imaging room, being made to undress in the imaging room, having the manager ask me about my service dog(after I was assured that they were aware of her) and told that I would receive a letter in 3 to 5 business days. Nothing that I was promised last year happened today. Not going to be a great time for me. Changing facilities, not going to be duped again. read more

I was very nervous. I was having a biopsy. I threw up. Believe me when I say I don't normally react this way when having a medical procedure. The poor radiology couldn't handle it. She left the room, the nurse was stellar. When the doctor entered the room, her first question was "do you think you can do this?". Not good morning, sorry to hear you were sick....nope, not one kind word. So thanks Doc. I appreciate your understanding and consideration. Well it's medical screening/testing, which is absolutely no fun and occasionally (often?) terrifying. ARA is admittedly the dominant player in the Austin region, so they invest in their equipment and their staff. That makes a difference. That said, I've visited many of their locations over the years, with varying results. This one was good. I liked the staff and the scheduling, though it's a bit of a drive from South Austin. If you're a female, your doc will likely send you for screening x-rays/ultrasounds on a regular basis. I dread it. ARA has a focused Women's Health Center in each quadrant of the Austin area, and they tend to see more women there. This is one of those centers, though it isn't in Austin. Thankfully, they read my results quickly and I'm done with that for at least a year. Billing is tricky at all the ARA centers, like most medical providers, so have them check your insurance at the time you make your appointment so you know what to expect financially. Just having tests done is stressful enough. read more

From the encouragement I received from the gentleman who made my appointment to the gentlemen who checked me in and did the MRI, I received EXCELLENT COMPASSIONATE CARE and reassurance. No judgement, just positive encouragement. I know without that I would not have been able to do it. I feel now I can do this again if needed. This review is given for lack of knowledge given to me while I was calling to get information on a pelvic ultrasound. First gal I talked to was informative and said there wouldn't be a problem paying with cash day of appointment. Second gal I talked to said they don't offer services without a referral from a doctor and I can't get work done there while I was trying to make an appointment. She also sounded irritated that the person I spoke to previously didn't have an account created for me (I don't even know why she told me that, I don't know their process on how they do things regarding a new appointment) She also didn't sound like she even knew 100% of that was truth or not, sounded very hesitant when saying the info. Wasted 40 minutes of my time going back and forth speaking to people. Glad I'm not getting work done here, super irritating. read more

I just completed a stereotactic breast biopsy of my left breast. Chad, Brenda and Dr. Gallagher were beyond awesome. They used kind tones and explained every step along the way so never did I have a question about what was going to happen. Additionally they went the extra step to make a personal connection so that I was even more at ease. Crissie Seibert was my technician 2/22/22 for mammogram. My first visit to this clinic. Crissie was WONDERFUL, explaining everything to me in detail and always anxious to answer any of my questions. I'm originally from Lubbock, TX, but moved to Dripping Springs to live with my son and daughter after my husband's death in March. I cannot say enough kind words about Crissie - she was so patient with me and answered all of my questions. Crissie is a WONDERFUL technician for mammogram and consequently I didn't suffer any unnecessary discomfort or pain. I will absolutely return in 6 months for my next mammogram. ARA at Kyle is now the only ARA we use, even though we live in Austin. Both the Lady and I have had to have very complex MRI's and hers had been one of those last attempt sessions due to the injury and other places not being able to get clear images. I have never had a problem with billing, and our insurance is complex. However, we are very proactive in providing very clear order of insurance and who is the sponsor. The facility is spotless, the front of the house has always been kind and accurate and the techs are the best with which we have ever had. Well done. Well done. read more

I started going to this Imaging Clinic over a year ago, and would prefer not to go anywhere else. I have had several different types of imaging done there and have always been happy with the experience. From the Reception Staff to the Imaging Techs... everyone is extremely kind, respectful and efficient. There's no where I'd rather go to have these procedures done. read more

I was to have a MRI at ARA today. Didn't happen. First they made an appointment at a location who could not do the 3T my doctor prescribed. They I was told to drive to Kyle where they could do it. That's when things really went badly The technician told me he could not do my MRI for 30 days because I had an iron infusion last week. I told him it was a Zometa infusion as part of my chemo not iron He said no it was iron. I asked why my oncologist would request a MRI if it needed to be 30 days after the Zometa. He told me, "your doctor doesn't know the protocol." While crying I asked him to call my doctor @ TX Oncology because I was afraid based on blood tests my cancer was back. His response was reschedule your appointment after 30 days and YOU call your doctor after rescheduling . After again requesting he call me doctor, he said no and escorted me out to the scheduler. My doctor informed me Zometa is NOT iron and there was no reason NOT to do the MRI. Zometa is part of my chemo. I called the clinic back and spoke to the manager who said the tech should have called the doctor with any questions. Of course it was too late then to get the MRI. I also live over an hour away from Austin I will never go back to the Kyle location and am not feeling positive regarding ARA in general. Nobody especially cancer patients should be treated so callously. Definitely avoid the Kyle location and if you must go, be prepared to be your own advocate with the techs. read more

Made a MRI appointment, due to my oncologist's request, over 6+ months ago with ARA. While making the appointment the young man asked me when my menstrual cycle starts each month and I told him It regularly starts at the 1st each month. He then scheduled my MRI for the 12th and of course I trust the person making the appointment that this timing works. Went to my MRI, my IV is put in and the radiologist comes over to tell me I'm past the 10 day window when my last period started. I asked him why the scheduler would schedule my MRI for the 12th and he just looks at me and shrugs his shoulders. Wow. ARA, you really need to get this fixed as there is no reason when told this menstrual information that the appointment isn't scheduled within 5 days of the start date given vs 12. Just using common sense here. read more

I recently came here to get a CT scan done after traveling from a doctor's appointment in North Austin. My three year old son had been with me all day and was getting tired and fussy...my phone was about to die....the last thing I wanted to do was bring my son with me to try and get the scan done. The staff at ARA were so patient and helpful with my son. They had let me borrow their phone charger while I briefly waited to be called back. The technician thoroughly explained what steps she would be doing and took the time to explain to my son that she would take him back with her but he would be able to see me behind the window. Everything was completed in about 15 minutes and my phone was charged....which means an entertained and happy kid for the car ride back home. Unfortunately I have had to be here several times in the last 6 months, however they have great staff who are caring, compassionate and explain the procedure well. They also have appointment times throughout the entire day, evenings too, which is such a relief when you work. I will never use ARA for my imaging needs again. The problem is not their professional staff, they're good. This location was great and they did their job, but here's the breakdown of my issues with this company. 1. I felt a tiny abnormality in my breast one month before my regular screening mammogram was due. I told my doctors office I would wait to have it done as I did not want to pay out of pocket for the exam. 2. My referral stated "screening mammogram w/ sonogram if needed". I called to schedule the exam and my first indication of trouble should have been when they kept insisting that the sonogram be scheduled 1st because, "that's the way we do it". I told them that wasn't going to happen. A sonogram would occur only if needed as the paperwork indicated. I also told them that I wanted to schedule the exam for the next month, when it was due, so insurance would cover it. The scheduler said we could put the exam on the books now, and they would see if insurance approved. 3. I went to the Kyle office and prior to my exam I told the front desk staff that I needed confirmation that the exam was covered 100% and the reply was, "Yes, all covered". 4. I had my mammogram and was told that I would be receiving a sonogram. I assumed that a radiologist had viewed the film and saw a need, but now I have my doubts. 5. A few weeks later I received a bill for a diagnostic mammogram and the sonogram that was done. Insurance had covered nothing and I called the billing department. I was told that a different exam than the one that had been ordered had been done and that ARA had called my doctor and changed that exam. I would be responsible for this bill, my doctor had been informed and that they should have told me. When I asked why I wasn't told during the check-in I was told, again, that the doctor should have told me. Here are my issues with this part: 5a. My doctor didn't perform they exam, THEY did. Following sound logic, ARA should have told me and NOT MY DOCTOR since ARA performed the exam! 5b. Don't interfere with the relationship I have with my doctor by putting YOUR irresponsibility and lack of service on her or her office staff. That's slimy, predatory and morally bankrupt. 6. As you can imagine, I told the billing representative that in no uncertain terms, I disagreed with her assessment of the situation and that she should have someone in management call me. 7. Someone in management called me and said they would call my doctors office to see what communication occurred. Again, I told this billing rep that it didn't matter who talked to the doctor, NOBODY talked to ME and that I had been SLAMMED with charges I was not expecting and I had done all that I knew to make sure that didn't happen. I told them that any future communication should occur via email because I could not rely on their spoken word. 8. I called my doctors office and they got in touch with their ARA rep, Cindy(?). I have not received received an email from ARA about writing off the charges incurred by submitting me to a test I didn't know about, but they feel comfortable speaking with my doctor. Apparently they told the doctors office that a portion would be written off, but I've yet to be contacted. In closing-ARA's culture is, in my opinion, criminal. The patient matters when they're in office, but once they're out the door, all bets are off. They are comfortable employing nasty tactics and lies to make more money for a company that obviously has expanded far faster than they were prepared. I consider conducting an exam I was unaware of on my body without my consent a LIE. Slamming me with charges that I made perfectly clear I was unwilling and considered unnecessary, I consider criminal. Still haven't received communication on what or if they will be writing the charges off. Also, person who eventually calls me, do yourself a favor and don't tell me what you'll do for me "this time", as if I did something wrong and you're doing me a favor (as I've seen in other complaint posts). I will be contacting Texas Association of Hospitals, JHACO, Texas Insurance Commission and the Better Business Bureau with this information. Staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Whoever I spoke with on the phone to schedule my exam never said her name and wasn't the friendliest. She made me feel as if I was interrupting her day to schedule my appointment. Once I came in the experience was excellent. I think next time I'll just walk in to schedule instead of calling. read more

So, if anyone is sent to an ARA, for the most part you're like "oh, crap", but these folks make it a LOT easier. I went to this location and had a wonderful experience with their staff last October. The technician spoke to me about the benefits of having a 3-D Mammogram, but that the insurance companies typically did not pay for this service. I was told that in the event of them not paying, ARA would only charge me $60. A couple months go by with no bill and I think that the insurance company has paid it in full. Imagine my surprise when, in January, I receive an invoice for over $400. Before I have a chance to digest this bill I receive a final notice to be sent to collections within a couple of weeks. My first call (pre-final notice) ended with a sorry we did not present the charges correctly, but there is a payment plan. My second call (post-final notice) I asked why this company would threaten to ruin my credit a mere 3 days after receiving my first invoice. After no resolution, I stated that I would pay the invoice but that I would like to cancel future appointments. The response was that ARA dominates the Austin market and that it would be difficult to find anyone else. Thus, acquiring quality, sincere, service for something as delicate as potential breast cancer is going to be forced upon me because I have no other choice. As I said before, the experience in office was great and I do believe that the technician merely made a mistake in presenting the cost of the mammogram. This being my first examine also did not help because I did not know what to expect. My frustration lies in how all of this was handled on the back end. read more
