Reasonable kayak rentals out of a slightly-dusty marine shop…read more This place isn't on the water --- kayak rentals involve a guy with a pickup driving your kayak to the shore, with you following. At the end of your adventure (about 10 minutes before you're done), call the shop from your cell phone and the guy will bring the pickup back to collect the kayak. This whole system worked better than I expected. I got a single kayak --- a quite reasonable Perception Swifty 9.5 sit-inside in good repair. The basic aluminum-and-plastic paddle was nothing special, but in reasonable repair. They also do tandem kayaks, small motorboats, and very small sailboats (Sunfish). The marine shop is a little dusty, and looks to do lots of outboard motor repairs.

Great value for boat rental. We rented a 19 foot boat for a full day on the weekend for $350. Boat…read morewas about 15 years old so nothing fancy (no AC outlet or radio), but boat itself was in good shape, functioned well and we had a fantastic day in the harbor. Note to boat renters: the shop does not use credit cards except for boat rentals, and required a $2000 authorization that it appears they ran through an old computer in the back office, so we initially had issues with finding a credit card that their system would not decline. Just be aware that this can take a significant amount of time even if your credit cards have never had issues previously, and they don't take AmEx. As mentioned in the previous post, the rental shop itself was not on the water, but was an easy 5 minute drive with the shop bringing the boat on a trailer and then picking it up at the end of the day with a stop by the gas station on the way back to the shop to top if off that the customer pays (very economical, only went through 12 gallons of gas). The shop requires that someone in party is an experienced boater and they take you out on 5 minute test drive before letting you go. Even though we were never in shallow water and convinced we didn't run into or over anything, there were some dings in the propellor noted at the end of our trip. Steve verified that that they could have been there prior to our trip, and was honest in not charging us for them. If you are fine with a more social (we got to know Steve quite well) while not the most streamlined renting experience, then good bargain!

I came to her at my heaviest weight, unconfident and feeling the worst about my body. I knew I needed a change! Over the past year she has kicked my butt and whipped me into shape! She started off slow and kept building and building every week. Each week I was amazed at things I could do so much better than the week before. She pushes you through even when you want to give up because she sees the potential in someone and she won't give up on you! She has not only helped me lose 30lbs and change my body in so many ways but she has also given me so much self confidence and made me feel so strong. I never thought I would look at a progress photo and see what I see. I still have lots more work to do but I can't imagine doing it with anyone else. One last thing- if you are overweight like me starting a fitness journey can seem impossible and I understand that totally but anything you think that you CANT do, Karen will show you that you CAN. I never thought I could do what I do and I could've never done it on my own. Do not be intimidated and mislead at a big box gym, come see Karen! You will not regret it!

Like a lot of people we used to be super fit, but found ourselves entering the next phase of our lives looking for someone to get us back on track. She has been amazing. One of the things that really makes Karen stand out is the focus she has when you're in a session with her. She follows your moves closely and always ensures that you have proper positioning with the weights so that you get the most out of your workout and you don't injure yourself. She also is incredibly understanding and compassionate and is heart centered in all that she does. I could go on and on but the bottom line is if you're looking for a passionate fitness expert who loves people and walks the walk, contact Karen at Raise The Bar Personal Training. LOVE this gym…read more Clean. New. Bright. Vibrant. Very updated space. Locker rooms are nice, feels extremely high-end for a gym. Classes are great - Yoga, Zumba, and Step are favorites. Decent schedule and variety. All instructors are great. Offers once a week free Zumba to check-out the gym. Separate room for women-only workouts, which is a nice option. Staff is friendly and accommodating. They are always looking to improve. A little pricier than other gyms in the area - if you aren't going to attend any classes, I am not sure if the added expense would be worth it. But if you like gym classes at all.... ABSOLUTELY worth checking out.

I think my favorite part about this gym is the excellent temperature control. Nothing's worse than a room temperature gym. All of the rooms for classes (each class has it's own room because the place is HUGE) are decorated, classy, and properly cooled. They have smaller sized changing room then is normal for most gyms, but it does have two showers, two bathrooms, and two sinks. Lockers and towels are free. There are plenty of machines, a room for women only, and from what I've seen it's never been too busy. 426 looks like a big warehouse, but they've done a really nice job with it. The manager, Paul, is also very nice - you can get a free 3 day pass to try out the gym and there are a ton of different priced membership/qasi-membership options depending on what you want to use the gym for. They have a parking lot off of Rosa street, with plenty of parking.

Music and mounds…read more Burr's Hill Park is a seven and a half acre park that sits right across from the town beach. A very pleasant place with nice views of the water but this park also holds a bit of a mystery. The park has baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, and a bandshell where a summer concert series is held. Other events and gatherings are also frequently conducted at the park. It's also right next to the East Bay Bike Path so it's a convenient place to use the bathrooms or get some water while biking by. One of the things that first struck me when viewing the park are the strange mounds that rise up on the perimeter of the park. If you look closely it becomes obvious that these are not natural but created by people a long time ago. These enigmatic mounds are actually the remains of a Revolutionary Fort that was built here centuries ago and long forgotten. No signs or historical plaques are around to mark the site but it's still pretty cool. I couldn't find any signs of recent archaeological activity nor any reference to any digs that have been conducted in the park so who knows what treasures lurk below the surface. Burr's Hill is a nice place that serves many of the recreational and artistic needs of the people of Warren. Interesting to realize that several centuries ago the value and function of the park served a far more martial and less pleasant purpose.
