Great dive bar full of good people, good food, & fairly priced booze. The owner of this place is an amazing woman.

My wife had the fish and chips. Food was good and plentiful. Service was very good, ate with some old friends, there was no rush, they gave us plenty of space. The menu is varied, specials are not typical fare, but also do not become science projects like so many "creations" do. The food is left to speak for itself. Affordable. Two small criticisms, can be loud in certain areas. They are very accommodating in moving you. The parking lot. Walking over the bridge can be an issue with cars. Worth the trip.

The broth is rich and deeply savory, the cheese pull is perfect, and the crispy rings add a texture you never knew the classic was missing. The pork chop remains the star of the menu--huge, expertly seasoned, and cooked with precision. It's widely considered the best in the city, and honestly might be the best in the state. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor, it's the kind of entrée you end up recommending to friends for weeks. Their octopus is another standout, prepared with surprising delicacy. Tender, not chewy, with a perfect char that adds just the right amount of smokiness. It's balanced, refined, and one of the most memorable small plates you'll find locally. And don't leave without dessert--the crème brûlée is phenomenal. Silky smooth custard under a flawlessly torched sugar crust that cracks just right. Simple, classic, and executed perfectly. Between the inventive dishes and the warm atmosphere, The First Post remains a must-visit for anyone who loves great food done exceptionally well.

Turns out it was the owner. Lol, what an idiot. The staff were very embarrassed by her behavior but kept it moving like real professionals do. She's lucky to have staff like that.

We happened upon Marietta Tavern on Market and decided to try it out. I have lived here for 3 years and haven't been here yet so I wasn't sure what to expect. Holy smokes!! I'll be back!! It's a cute little space, very cozy. We were greeted immediately and shown to our table. We were informed that due to the town event for the day it would be a limited menu. The menu we were handed didn't look limited at all. I can't wait to see the full menu on my next visit! I had the pumpkin praline French toast bake with caramel and a side of bacon. I'm not typically a pumpkin kinda girl but this was so amazing. The flavors were perfect and not overpowering. My sister-in-law had a crock of French onion soup that she said was the best she's ever had. It sure did smell delicious. She also had a steak tip Caesar salad. Service was great, attentive, friendly. I can't say enough good things about our first impression but I'm happy to support a hometown establishment that has delicious food and great service. I'll be back!

Traditional down home style diner with solid breakfast fare (apparently good food and drinks other…read moretimes as well) but we've only eaten here for breakfast over the past few years so we'll focus on that. I'm a fan of standard PA Dutch Country fare, so my first question was, "Do you have scrapple?" And the answer was, "Yes, we do." Ok, off to a great start. Along with that I ordered Eggs over easy, Home Fries (not those frozen thingies) - but real potatoes browned on the griddle, coffee and a side dish of SOS (more commonly called Cream Chipped Beef or Dried Beef in gravy). The scrapple was good, save for the fact that it was dropped in the deep fryer (a common practice), but I would have preferred grilled. Eggs done to ooey gooey perfection, SOS loaded with nicely chopped pieces of salty paper-thin beef in a thick white gravy. Toast topped it all off and I was stuffed with a smile on my face. My wife ordered her regular fare of scrambled eggs (which came cooked very well; cooked through completely but remaining moist). In addition she ordered Hash Browns (these were slightly underdone and missing the crispy brown edges we like.) Finally she asked for crispy bacon and received 5 dandy slices. All in all a great start to any day...but I think I might need a nap first.
