We're we're here again today. Sat at one of the side tables right next to the bar. Our server was the Bartender and she was great! Different menu for during the week so we stuck to apps and drinks. Menu on the weekends is far better, BUT mussels are not on the weekly menu but asked if they got make them for us and they did!!! They were awesome as usual!!! So appreciated them making them for us!! Also had the crab dip which of course was awesome!! I always get the same drink Kettle one and sugar free Red Bull always nice and strong!! Deep Eddy?! Whoever thought this was the best option for a flavored vodka crush should be fired. Update: I'm not sure how to respond to a comment, but to answer your question, there are many other flavored vodkas that allow you to mix a craft cocktail without adding all the additional sugar that Deep Eddy has in every serving. It's really the sugar content that should be looked at, and for some people who need to watch their sugar content this is the worst option possible. I also find it hard to believe that Deep Eddy is "popular" and not just being heavily pushed right now. Other options could be Stoli, Absolut, New Amsterdam. read more

My wife ordered a Buffalo Chicken Salad on Thursday. The red portions of the spring mix were inedible and one could easily see issues with the green portion. How this was served is beyond me. The person preparing the salad and the server both should have noticed. My wife picked apart the salad and ate what she could. The chicken portion was very small. When the server noticed the pile on the plate, the salad was immediately comped. In that regard, they did the right thing. McCleary's is a nice Irish Pub. It's a nice scene with live bands some nights. We used to go there quite often when we lived closer. I'm not saying we'll never go back, but it'll be a while. read more

I have become pretty disappointed with McCleary's. The last two times I've been here, depending on the waiter, they can be very inattentive. The food quality has gone down. It's dry, a salt bomb, and overcooked. For the price, I expect fresh and proper quality. Last night when we were eating dinner, they brought our entrees before our soup, and they said "oh we were out of cups" it took an awkward pause of me staring at the waitress for her to then ask if we still want it. Were they hoping we'd just forget? Why not say something sooner? I told them we do want the soup and then brought it out in bowls. What a brilliant idea!. And lastly, there's always a table where they're wrapping silverware. Fine if you're not busy. But now I know if they accidentally drop silverware on the floor, it doesn't get washed and instead added to the pile for customers. read more

McCleary's public house is truly a hidden gem. My friends and I went hiking this day and wanted to stop somewhere to eat and have a few drinks. This establishment did not disappoint. The first part of the building itself just feels so homey you can tell it holds so much history. While walking down the hallway you get a glimpse of that history because there are photos along the wall of past days. It's very neat to stop and read about them. Then on the back half of the building they have a stage because they have live music some days, which leads into a beautiful outdoor terrace that just makes you feel like you stepped right into another country. When you pull up, don't miss the driveway next to the pub as there's a parking lot in the back. It's gravel so if you're on motorcycles, you may prefer to park along the side street. It's next to a railroad with little traffic. You can't see the water, but you may catch a train coming through! So I have to start off with the Maryland Crab Soup... Being from Maryland and having a palate, I have expectations... and they were met and exceeded with the flavors! Made me sweat right under my eyes as it should. I would have liked a bit more cabbage and more crab (you can never get enough, am I right?!). The bowl is a good size for the price and I would definitely get it again. The fish and chips also blew me away. I wasn't expecting half a fish on a plate, but it kept the fish moist and flavorful. The breading isn't heavy and tasted similar to funnel cake. I could only eat half, but will be air frying the remainder when I get home. The fries weren't my favorite as they were breaded, too. I would have loved a fresh cut option to balance out all the breading. Can't speak to the tartar sauce or coleslaw as me and mayo, no bueno... Again, I would highly recommend this dish as well and would order again. Finally, and to some the most important part, the BEER!! Guinness on draft (of course) and a wide array of taste pleasers. If you like fruity beer, they have several really nice ones! The Tripping Animals Ever Haze has a crisp and citrusy flavor and was a very refreshing IPA. This one was ordered a few times at our table. The patio out back is one of the neatest settings I've seen in a restaurant in a long time. Ivy all over the inside with plenty of natural light, almost like a greenhouse! The candlelight setting is very relaxing and inviting. This was our first visit. Makayla was very accommodating. We were celebrating an Anniversary and a Birthday. We were placed in both near the stage. We started with a freshly baked Crabby pretzel. My family and I decided to come here for dinner tonight because we wanted to try somewhere new. It looked really appealing from the outside, especially the back room. There's plenty of parking whether on the street or in their parking lot. We were greeted by the hostess who was friendly and sat us immediately upon arrival. I will state that it's a bit tight in there but I truly loved the atmosphere. Our server was Lachelle who was extremely kind and very quick to take our orders, grab us refills, and anything else we needed. We started with mussels and crab dip which came out piping hot. The mussels had a great flavor and were of good size. They were cooked to perfection and not rubbery at all. The crab dip was good and had a lot of flavor. It was a smaller portion than expected. My husband loved the prime rib melt and essentially licked his plate clean. I got a decent side salad along with the fish and chips. The fries were hot, the coleslaw was tasty and the fish portion was huge. I typically prefer a thinner fish and chips with not so much of a thick breading. However, it was fairly decent and I wound up bringing over half home for lunch. My kids enjoyed their meals as well. Overall, I really enjoyed it here and hope to come back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor space while enjoying more items on the menu. Prices weren't too bad given the portions. read more

I was here once before for a live show and loved it. Then when I came here with friends in 2023- we were sat in the back room which has an outdoorsy feel with a fire pit, lots of windows, and metal furniture. It was so great! I ordered a special of the day- chicken Fiorentine and the protein was moist, pasta properly cooked and taste was delicious! The first time I came here I found it to be a pleasant and unexpected surprise. The front has a great classic Irish-American pub feel. The back feels like you're dining in an indoor park or wooded area. It's enclosed, but vines grow around the translucent ceiling panels and it very much feels like an outdoor dining experience. I was not expected that kind of atmosphere, but I loved it. Feels like something you'd find in NY, Philly or Boston. The location is right along Front Street, which is an underrated experience with some of its other historical buildings and bar & grills. It has a fun vibe on a Friday or Saturday night. The food is also very good - namely the burgers, chicken sandwich and fish tacos.Other underrated menu items include the steaks and the prime rib. I've always found them to be tender and quality cuts. My favorite dish is the Shepherd's Pie. It can be harder to come by, even in Irish bars, but McCleary's does a great job with it. Pair it with your favorite beer, and you're off to the races. Don't get around here as often I'd like to these days, but I always enjoy my visits and would recommend to anyone who wants to try a new bar. read more

That gave me a sense of confidence as my Mom is 83. And also, I've never been there before. The host, although being pulled in a few directions at once, (lunch hour rush) made us feel very welcomed, and got us to our table in a timely manner. We took a spot on the enclosed patio area.
