The food was definitely in the price range of what I paid in this economy. The service was great. The atmosphere felt like everyone around was family as everyone knew everyone while I was there.

3 of the 4 piece Broasted Chicken. Allow extra time for the Broasting Process. 15-20 minutes.

If you are in the York/ Lancaster area , you must try the Broasted Chicken at Rivertowne Restaurant. Warning: We ordered 4 piece platters. We were so hungry for this, that we decided to start eating first. Yes, it's that good! I tried the Cream of Crab Soup. The diced peppers made it unlike any other Cream of Crab Soup I've ever had. The Cheddar Mashed Potatoes were tasty and the Harvard beets for the vegetable completed our entree. They have a bar and a cold Yuengling was the perfect drink for our dining experience. Our server was very attentive and anticipated our needs. We can't wait to return. - Judy and Tim

My wife had the fish and chips. Food was good and plentiful. Service was very good, ate with some old friends, there was no rush, they gave us plenty of space. The menu is varied, specials are not typical fare, but also do not become science projects like so many "creations" do. The food is left to speak for itself. Affordable. Two small criticisms, can be loud in certain areas. They are very accommodating in moving you. The parking lot. Walking over the bridge can be an issue with cars. Worth the trip.

The broth is rich and deeply savory, the cheese pull is perfect, and the crispy rings add a texture you never knew the classic was missing. The pork chop remains the star of the menu--huge, expertly seasoned, and cooked with precision. It's widely considered the best in the city, and honestly might be the best in the state. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor, it's the kind of entrée you end up recommending to friends for weeks. Their octopus is another standout, prepared with surprising delicacy. Tender, not chewy, with a perfect char that adds just the right amount of smokiness. It's balanced, refined, and one of the most memorable small plates you'll find locally. And don't leave without dessert--the crème brûlée is phenomenal. Silky smooth custard under a flawlessly torched sugar crust that cracks just right. Simple, classic, and executed perfectly. Between the inventive dishes and the warm atmosphere, The First Post remains a must-visit for anyone who loves great food done exceptionally well.

The setting is absolutely beautiful. Their outdoor terrace overlooks a scenic garden area that looks like it might even host weddings--it's that picturesque. The ambiance is peaceful, charming, and ideal for a relaxing weekend meal, whether you've just finished a bike ride or are simply looking for a quiet dining spot in Marietta. The menu had a lot of fresh, well-crafted options, and the cocktail list was fun and inventive. I tried the lavender lemon drop, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well the lavender complemented the classic citrusy flavor--an elegant twist on a traditional drink. For dinner, I went with the jalapeño cheddar burger, which was flavorful, juicy, and made with noticeably fresh ingredients. The fries were crisp and satisfying, while my mom and sister-in-law each opted for different sandwiches paired with house salads. They raved about the house-made vinaigrette, which had a fresh, tangy balance. We also started with the whipped feta dip and gouda mac and cheese--both were delicious. The feta was creamy and flavorful, and the mac had a rich, smoky bite to it. Our Entrees looked so delicious that I forgot to snap a photo beforehand. Service was excellent. Our waitress was knowledgeable about both the food and drink menus, and her suggestions were spot on. In terms of value, I was really impressed. With so many places these days serving tiny portions at high prices, Railroad House Inn stands out as a restaurant that delivers quality, fresh ingredients, and generous portions at a fair price. All in all, this was a five-star experience. Great food, beautiful location, warm service--I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area, especially after enjoying the nearby Northwest Lancaster County River Trail.

Walking in to the right is their store. The store has sweets, novelty items, ceramics and great gift sets. To the left is the bar and restaurant which has that beautiful view! The service despite how busy they were was very attentive. My friend ordered a corned beef and sauerkraut grilled sandwich with a crab soup and I got a duck burger with fries. The burger tasted like grounded up duck meat and breading. It had some kind of Asian flavored slaw that had way too much salt so I removed it and enjoyed the burger with just the lettuce. The fries has texture and flavor of re-refried fries. My friend said her soup was good but she would not get it there again. It was too watery for her liking. Her grilled sandwich was very good. Though the food wasn't the best we did enjoy each others company and made a great memory!

Then she said, "you know who does great tuna salad? It's a diner over in Columbia!" But she couldn't remember right there what it was called. I googled diners in Columbia and I read back to her she shouted , "Black Olive"!!!! I'm here with two friends but didn't order tuna as it's breakfast and so I ordered eggs Benedict with turkey sausage instead of the Canadian bacon, and lemon on the side since I love my hollandaise sauce tangy. I get my order but not as I requested. Canadian bacon is in there and turkey sausage on a side plate. The hollandaise sauce looks like melted cheddar and no lemon on the side. Worst of all I cut into the poached eggs and they're too hard. Well I was just too disappointed in their skill level to ask them to redo. Our amazing waitress was trying to talk me into ordering something else if I didn't want a redo. She had a manager come by and I told him what I ordered and how I got it. It was ok I didn't want to trouble anyone. He insisted they'd get it right so I gave in. A few minutes later he presents me with jiggly poached eggs on top of turkey sausage and wedges of lemon. I will say I was impressed the second time around, though the hollandaise sauce needs work! Here's a quick blender recipe Ingredients: 3 egg yolks, 1 tbsp lemon juice, pinch salt, 1/2 cup hot melted butter. No need to make it from powder. You "can" taste the difference! Over all very happy with the cleanliness, service, attention and will be back mid March for that tuna sandwich. Mmm can't wait!

Not many people for a late Sunday afternoon, so food should have been perfect. Food - To start, I order bruschetta. It came on big thick slices of what looked like a hoagie roll. Could not enjoy it with all that bread. Don't order and pay for bread. Next for an entree I ordered their Broiled Seafood Platter - $29.00 for mostly bread. The large crab cake - all bread, no crab. The Stuffed Flounder - Nice large piece, however, sitting on three cups of bread stuffing. The 3 Scallops were broken and not completely broiled. The 3 Small Shimp - the same. The entrees came with 3 sides. I got the baked potato, Cole slaw and the crab bisque. I brought the food home - $41.00 worth, so I could dissect off the descent parts. I was never there before; I probably won't return. If they pair down their menu, they may be able to make peoples food to order. When the complex dishes come to the table as fast as a cup of coffee, you know, it's never a good thing. Footnote: There were flies all over too, that made it next to impossible to eat comfortably in the restaurant, with the flies incessantly landing all over the table.
