My husband walked through the process with the templator and was never informed of where the seams would be placed. The template showed no seams and a solid piece of quartz. At the installation though, we had two seams. I pushed back and requested a reinstall of one of the larger pieces so that it reduced the number of seams from 2 to 1. After some back and forth, we got it installed. I wish the templator made it clear what we were getting and to provide us an opportunity to change it rather than being surprised the day of. Communication with Rebecca at CCM was really clear. She set expectations about what the reinstall would look like, clarified with us that in order to make it one piece it would have to be curved (& not at 90 degree angles). We approved of that, and it turned out great. So happy to have worked with Rebecca and happy that CCM made it right.

Ours was through Home Depot, and this review is based on that experience, which was NOT a good one. For starters, California Crafted Marble was supposed to contact me once everything was ordered through Home Depot. After 4 weeks, they had still not called or emailed, and so I had to initiate the process. This general lack of care on their part continued throughout. I had the unfortunate experience of being forced to work with a representative named Lorenzo. I had a number of specific questions about the job, in regard to scheduling and about the installation itself. Without exception, I found him to be rude, almost always condescending in his tone, and on several occasions, he lied to me outright about a number of important details. Any time I'd ask him any sort of direct question, he would invariably obfuscate and be as unspecific and vague as possible. I was genuinely baffled by this behavior, and yet it lasted throughout the entire experience from beginning to end. There were a number of attempts to bait-and-switch with new charges early on that were never part of the original quote, and that only added to my frustration. My experience with the measure tech was fine as was the final installation, however there were issues with the materials as they were prepped. In the one corner where two pieces are supposed to be cut such that the pattern flows seamlessly, the measurement/cut was/is off by 1/4". Similarly, the hole for the faucet was also off by the same amount - 1/4". Because we kept the original plywood from our previous counter, the location of the hole was important, but because the hole was off, we had to bore out the hole wider than the faucet which then required that I create an additional reinforcement piece underneath before it could be installed. Could we have rejected the materials for being cut incorrectly? Sure, but that would have started the clock all over, we would have had to wait an additional 4 weeks and I would have been forced to continue working with Lorenzo. The thought of that was unacceptable to me. In addition, there would be no guarantee that the pieces would be properly cut a second time. Perhaps other representatives at California Crafted Marble are more pleasant to work with, but if your job is through Home Depot, you might want to think twice.

My experience with Kaminskiy Design has been great!…read more We are doing updates on our house and started with the most painful (to me anyway) - the kitchen.  While I desperately wanted a new kitchen, I was not looking forward to dealing with the hassle and scope of the project.  We reached out to KDR on their website, they answered within minutes.  The Sales and Design team had really great ideas about how to increase our cabinet and counter-space, totally things I never would have thought of or envisioned. The final product turned out so much better than we imagined. They listened to every concern I had along the way and actually addressed it, very professional and friendly.  We will be working with them again.

UPDATE: The Contract State License Board (CSLB) has concluded its review of our complaint and ruled…read morein our favor. We provided detailed evidence demonstrating that the "waterproof system" installed by Kaminskiy quickly failed and was the direct cause of extensive water damage over three years. As a result of the CSLB ruling, Kaminskiy was required to reimburse us for the necessary repairs. Our situation has been fully resolved, and our deck is now solid and, as proven by recent heavy rains, completely dry. We extend our sincere thanks to the CSLB for their assistance during this difficult time. We also highly recommend Optimal Waterproofing for their excellent work in effectively fixing all the mistakes made by Kaminskiy.

If you've ever laid awake wondering whether your workers will show up tomorrow -- let alone at all…read morethis week -- you know exactly the kind of contractor experience we'd been living with for years. BRR Contractors was the complete opposite, and they honestly renewed our faith in finishing this renovation at all. They completely redid our balcony: tore it down, found and replaced rotted wood, removed some railings and added glass, refurbished the old railings, rebuilt the stairs, and painted the whole thing. There was one change order for the rot, but Mike Spencer flagged that possibility upfront during the estimate, so it was expected -- no surprises, no games. Here's the contrast that matters. Our previous contractor would demo and vanish, sub out everything to crews doing C+ work at best, blow past finish dates by months, and leave horrendous messes with almost zero oversight. Worst of all, I was paying for project management but ended up doing all of it myself -- chasing subs, tracking schedules, riding herd on quality. With BRR, they handle ALL of it. You're reminded why you hired professionals in the first place: so you don't have to be the one running the job. And they have their OWN crew -- these guys are pros. Tyson and Jay handled demo and construction and showed up at 0730 every single day, on time, every time. Bill's paint work was excellent, and the glass and railing crew was just as solid. They cleaned up at the end of each day, and communication couldn't have been better from start to finish. The last few years were a hard lesson in what a contractor shouldn't be -- but it made us appreciate exactly what we have now. I'm genuinely glad we found BRR. We'll be using them for future phases of our renovation without hesitation. If you've been burned before, this is the company that restores your confidence. Highly recommend.

He should be called the "hillside therapist". He came up with an affordable solution and did not try to upsell me during the process. He methodically went through the whole process with me and boy did I have a ton of questions for him. He assured me he would rectify the situation. He fit me into his busy schedule and I got to know his crew very well. I would go down the canyon on a daily basis and his crew worked like clock work. Pete would instruct them on what to do but it was like they already knew exactly what they were doing. They worked to together so well and completed the job in about a week.
